WJM replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
JWX can have it. I dont ahve time or $ to mess around wth trying to get it to me. -
EA82T is the lack of cats, and a slightly different fuel map and some had EGT sensors instead of O2's....so tahts the whoping 20 HP difference.

WJM replied to Bratenstein's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
335/35/17 Khumo V710's are still not wide enough. -

time for that Asheville clutch now, eh? -
I would guess it was around 105~110 for Euro.

I autox every weekend I get. If I went to the dragon every weekend, id get bored real fast. ~4 times a year is enough.
-
No, I was getting 29~31 MPG's reguarly crusing along at 75 MPH @3500 RPMs...thats about 120 KPH.

87 FI Turbo - is the mechanical stuff salvagable?
WJM replied to karinvail's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
its hit or miss....i wouldnt trust the engine until I got it running and it ran well....or took it apart. The rest of it should be good to go tho. -
excellent. are you going to be at the dragon march 19th weekend?
-
The most power I've ever heard of from an EA82T was about 400~450 hp from some of the rally teams.... but documented proof...theres QuickRX in Australia thats got something like 215 (cant remember if thats at the wheels or crank...) and there is mine thats 161/205 at the wheels, which is 230/295 at the crank.

Time to build a killer motor
WJM replied to Do It Sidewayz's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My setup. Its proven 161 WHP/205 TQ....TWE header, Downpipe...WRX (Now STi) TMIC, GReddy Spec II EBC, an intake...thats it...otherwise its stock and Ive put 10k miles on this, and the Dragon trip last time was most certinly about 20 miles (went thru it about 4 times) of nothing but WOT at high boost. No issues. AND on top of all that...NO LAG!! You can go to a PnP TD04L13G and not have much lag still...but you will certinly need some engine management and injectors...I imagine you can get about 250 at the wheels on a 13G. -
Thats right, I've got the ONLY RX STi in the USA. :-p Got a Forester Leather shift knob...kinda looks STi'ish with the semi-red stitching...a "JDM STi" steering wheel off ebay...and a USDM STi Version 8 TMIC. YES it IS larger than a stock WRX one...btw the WRX one is for sale now. I just got done putting the coil overs on it, and I need to get the ride heights correct SOON rather than later...gotta get time and daylight for that.

XT digi speedo and odometer quit working
WJM replied to Tcat55371's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
$35 shipped for it. But sounds to me either the cable slipped off the back of the dash or the cable broke. -
22~30 mpgs for me...mostly a combined average of 24.
-
Exactly.

XT digi speedo and odometer quit working
WJM replied to Tcat55371's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
what year is it? The speedo is cable driven. I dont know what could be wrong since I never had a failure. I do have an extra 85 XT turbo 2WD 5spd digidash laying around. -
So JWX's RX was on the dyno this last sat. the two 84 hp runs were at stock boost...bottomless intake airbox, and bone stock everything else. The 100 hp runs were at 13 psi MBC. The ONLY difference between this time and the last time this car was on a dyno is the muffler. It had a glass pack on it then....for these runs it had a OE replacement muffler...an ACTUAL muffer. It put out 88 hp at the wheels on a mustang the last time...so I can see the 4hp loss. http://consumer.inkfrog.com/pix/WJM/jwxrxdyno.jpg
