  1. Would love to hear more about the turbo on the sammy. Any pics, suggested pipe routing, part #s, etc. I think i need a 5 psi bypass valve.
  2. It has the best brkes of all our cars now! I converted the rear to disc but I would not recomend it- just get a wrx booster/mc off ebay and bolt it on. You just adjust the shaft nut and use some washers on the studs. I had to drill a new accel cable hole as the booster is about 3 times bigger than the sammys. I have a ea82 turbo laying around too. only I already have spark knock with no boosting. and 92 octane.
  3. I have had nothing but trouble with my cooling fan on my Samurai since my engine rebuild. The first thermal switch only worked a couple cycles and quit ( chinese generic ). I switched to a Derale setup and it ran awfully hot before it would come on, then one night it switched itself on and killed the battery! Enough is enough. I dug the fan switch out of my parts subarus radiator and grafted it into the top rad hose with a 1/2" galvanized t and 3/8 brass bushing. That thing works perfect- stays the same temp even when launching off sand dunes on a hot day! Info may help someone trying to eliminate clutch fan... I also run a wrx booster/mc on it - easy swap , works fantastic!
  4. How did the test run go? are you loading your music on sd cards? It looks like you could plug a 8 gig usb stick into it and play , is that correct? Any big let downs on it? I may go this route as I have had sand and rain ruin several head units in my samurai.
  5. If only you weren't on the other side of the planet! There is an old guy named Jack here who has a built EA71 with matching tuned turbo wrapped up in his garage, it was for one of his home built helicopters but he lost his health certificate. He got quiet when I tried to buy it awhile back like maybe he hoped to use it someday. He now runs a built ea81 on a home made trike!
  6. If the gas tank off a 91 4wd wagon will work - you are welcome to it. Just be some shipping costs unless you can swing by page arizona sometime.
  7. yep, there is a lot of outbacks in flag but hardly any dr wagons anywhere. The junkyard in flag told me they don't even have any 4 lug soobs!
  8. correction ... It's from Tucson! Owner is a mechanic - wagon needs some work. Informed them I have parts. Now I need a lifted wagon again.
  9. I'll bet your right! It has a Yakima rack like all the Washigton soobs on the board. I can't stand it, I have to go talk to this guy.
  10. not exactly what I would do but -nice job! Very cool to see a clean brat instead of a low budget rusty hulk like mine have been.
  11. Anybody here own that black lifted gen 2 on 9th ave? If not I am going to knock on his door. ( you Washington guys won't understand the excitement , but here you don't even see old subarus , let alone a lifted one)
  12. Really nice! What type / brand of plastic epoxy did you use on the shifter?
  13. I just scooped my gl10. A unibit and metal blade jigsaw cut it easy. Make sure you absolutely have it where you want it before cutting. You can use masking tape if you are keeping the current paint. Try not to cut into the hood supports. If you attach with doublestick 3m tape ,prep area with acetone to get wax and dirt off.
  14. make sure you treat the rear bumper for termites! Nice score - I woouuld love to have an RX!
  15. well, looks like I am going to resurrect this old thread. I am searching for a part # to get a dual core radiator for my wifes gl10 turbo AT 4wd, I read in one of these posts I was searching about putting an extra heater core in front of the rad - I do have an extra core but it sounds kinda fab-tastic and does it work that well? I am pretty sure a dual core rad would be affordable and basically bolt in. :slobber:Temps are still just in the 60-70s and it gets one bar over the middle climbing long hills. By July we will be topping the 100s.
  16. Had a blazer that kept getting a clogged core- very strange- no solids - just thick looking liquid.
  17. That is a beautiful little car! How do you keep it rust free? I have owned two Subarus from Conneticut and they were both terribly rotted.
  18. We just took a 1000+ mile trip to San Diego and back - EA82T awd. It had been sitting in a field for 7 years , I have only had it running a couple weeks. Even the ac is ice cold! I changed the fluids and tires but didn't have time to do the timing belts but carried them with me. Coolest part -Best tank was 29.6 mpg! Most were around 24 mpg with 4 people and loaded with luggage.
  19. my neighbor has a blue dual range wagon with the center eye. He offered to sell it to me for $600 but I am looking for a second gen wagon (and he is a little odd). It's here in Northern Az
  20. 25 miles isn't that bad, our nearest dealer is 130! Actually , so is the nearest mall. I am pretty sure someone in Australia is going to top this! WELCOME!
  21. ECU is under steering column. To remove, loosen 3 12mm nuts and slide forward to drop.
  22. great write up. but glad I have factory cruise!
