Brat Build!
Thank's and I have no problem with people giving me suggestions, half the time people on here give me advice I would never think of so thank's! But this Brat is going in another direction, plus they have made It pretty much a pain to go offroading anywhere in this state :/ I also have a Gl wagon I plan on lifting, but that's another story... -SB

Brat Build!
I have a five speed d/r but I'm going to put that in my 82 gl wagon because I need that to have a fifth gear real bad! And I have like 5 awd legacy transmissions just lying around needing to be used! Also I think awd would be a good life choice with the engine I'm putting into it. Plus with the amount of $ and time I have put into the body I don't want to beat it off road I have a $150 Nissan pathfinder for that

Brat Build!
Just pulled the whole OBDII harness out of my 97 Impreza 1.8 brighton coupe, and am going to have to stop with progress as I'm off to school this week where I'll be building my 2.5!. Plans for next weekend, pull the diff and trans out of my outback donor car and get ready to put the drive train in!

Brat Build!
So I got this 1986 Brat when I was 12 to do a restoration with my dad, and to learn about cars. It didn't look nearly as good when I first got it Now I'm 18 and the Brat is going into it's final (for now) build up. After driving it around this summer with the stock 1.8 and comparing it to my 02 wrx. I wanted something a little better! So I have started doing a frankenmotor Ej swap as of yesterday when I, on a whim, decided to pull the whole drivetrain out of my Brat! Future plans include a five lug swap, suspension upgrades and brakes of from a 97 legacy GT! I also am going to use an ObdII harness! Sorry about the size of the pic, I can not for the life of me figure out how to make it smaller! I will post more as I go along! -SB

need lots of help with project
100% agreed Ej it and get it done with! That's what I'm doing with my Brat, I have been down the older turbocharged engines road once, after a year of wiring issues I stuck my stock engine back in. Now I'm doing an Ej engine, skip the step I neglected to and you will be MUCH happier! Just my .02 -SB

OBDII into an EA81 documentation?
Okay thanks! That gives me a starting point! I just got done pulling the whole drivetrain in the Brat tonight, and I'm in the processes of building a frankenmotor at school which should be ready in the next couple of weeks! I'm also going to run the outback 5 speed that may go in tomorrow, I will probably start my own thread at some point soon as well!

OBDII into an EA81 documentation?
I'm working on this swap in my 1986 brat right now, does anyone have any advice on how to thin out the harness? The harness I have is out of a 1997 outback 2.5 five speed. Any help at all or advice on where to start would be greatly appreciated. -SB

What Have You Done to your Soobie lately? (Please post in here and keep it going)
Loving the pugs! Too bad the tires don't fit well, but if you get some flares on the beast she'll look real nice!

Older Generation Becoming Historic?
I agree, I would never give up my classics for a new car. Heck I don't like 99% of the new cars out there, and the ones I do like I couldn't afford even with a discount. Plus nothing is as reliable as a 1982 ea81 wagon

Removeable Jumpseats
I drilled holes in my bed and welded nuts to the bottom of it. I then strengthened the rails and put bolts down through them so I can just unbolt them anytime I need too

Have you seen this car?
I agree with that I had a 1989 Volvo sitting in my back yard since 2006 with a broken timing belt and 4 bent valves. Last week I decided to resurrect it 237k and still kicking strong:lol: It's out there, you just have to find it!

Engine Question
Trust me it's not worth it! I found a ea81t with the whole harness and decided to put it in my brat, after a year of chancing down wiring "issues" and rebuilding the motor, I gave up. I would suggest doing a weber swap, or if you want bigger power gains (way more than the stock turbo) for less money do an EJ swap. They are also way more reliable than the ea81t and get better fuel economy! just my .02. Even if your's came with a turbo originally, and it is carbed now it probably has the normal aspirated ea81 heads and block, which are entirely different from the ea81t. And you can't put the factory turbo fuel injection on that engine.
