  1. Because on the highway you have high airflow against the engine which is doing a good job of cooling it. In the city you have no such airflow, so it overheats.
  2. It is possible that the block is warped. You might be in the market for a new engine. I would suggest an ej22. I put an ej22 in a few months ago and I love it.
  3. Was the radiator burped properly after it was replaced or the HGs replaced? Were both HGs replaced? What type of HG was used?
  4. I've seen people do that. I am a fan of Seafoam but ATF should also work.
  5. Sounds like the charge coming out of the alternator isn't getting anywhere. Follow the wires and see if any of them are cut, bare, etc.
  6. I once poked around on this engine to see how I could change the spark plugs. I think the easiest method is removing the engine. I second the idea of changing around the coils and see if the misfires follow.
  7. They are called stealerships for a reason. There really ought to be laws regulating how much they can steal...er...charge. Wow. It is possible that you have bent valves. If the engine is sound good and you're gas mileage isn't terrible then go on ahead to your final destination and worry about it then. Find a good independent shop that specializes in Japanese cars. If you want to do it yourself then we can probably help you.
  8. I did this swap a few months ago, from ej25 to ej22. Loss of power? Can't tell. It accelerates just as well as the ej25 and I don't feel any lack of ooomph. OP, sorry I can't help. With till GeneralDisorder comes along.
  9. Totally find to drive around. Will just be jerky on shape turns. Why not replace it yourself?
  10. Some is lost to evaporation/boiling from the heat of the engine. It's also possible you have a small leak. If it continues to disappear quickly then you likely have a leak.
  11. Just had a lady today with a Honda Civic who had a brake light on due to low fluid. Topped it off and no more light.
  12. Yup, the engine is toast. Sounds like a main bearing has broken off. The end of an engine.
  13. Sounds like a fuel delivery problem. Either volume or pressure. I would check the fuel pressure.
  14. Their website is.....difficult. I email them for part numbers and quotes. I've been to their actual store and told them in person that their website is poorly done. They know.
  15. Just a regular socket set and thin arms to get all the bolts of the extension housing off.
  16. If it hasn't gone bad yet then it probably will very soon. I would definitely replace the Duty C Solenoid.
  17. NGK Laser Platinum plugs are the same as the OE Subaru plugs (same model number, same manufacturer). Start there.
