  1. I ordered a new cable set from the local Subaru dealer (only 22 miles away) and they'll have it on Wedensday. Anything special I should know for installation?
  2. The cable inside the boot appears to be disconnected where it plugs into the bracket (as per the diagram attached to this post). I haven't opened the boot yet but I'd sincerely appreciate thoughts as to my options.
  3. Got in the car earlier and tried to shift from park to reverse and nothing happened when I stepped on the gas. Couldn't shift into drive or any lower gear, either. I got out got began to feel around the neutral switch and was able to put the Range Select Lever into reverse which worked. I palpated the boot leading from the switch which houses the cable and I definitely feel that the cable is disconnected in the middle of the boot. Does anyone know if the cable is meant to disconnect or if this sounds like a snap? I'm in an extremely rural area so getting parts takes a few days. Would anyone be able to recommend a part number? There's an Advance Auto Parts about 20 miles from me.
  4. You're throwing parts at a problem that you don't fully understand. Is the CEL on? If so what is/are the code(s)?
  5. A bunch of news stations did reports showing that those machines are likely to cause more problems than they solve as they tend to force the fluid through the trans at far higher pressures than the trans is designed for. Numerous manufacturers have issues technical bulletins indicating that these machines are not meant to ever be used with their transmissions and using them can seriously damage a transmission, voiding the warranty, and costing the customer thousands of dollars. Trans flush at 3:44.
  6. The hazard switch is the actual button/switch on the dashboard. It's where the lights from both sides cross over, but it appears to not be where my fault lies. I am going to look for this "little round thing" now.
  7. Electrical guy says it's a hazard switch. I got a new one from the dealer, it lights up, but the turn signals still don't work.
  8. I plugged in my backup multifunction switch. It was able to turn on and off the window wipers and headlights but I was unable to activate either of the turn signals. It appears the issue is not in the MFS but elsewhere. I have an appointment with an auto electrical genius on Monday.
  9. Oh, sorry, multifunction switch is the name of the module that is in the steering column and has the various levers/stalks.
  10. Hazards are not working. I happen to already own a full multifunction switch for my car (long story). Is it possible that the signal switch might be loose and just needs tightening or is it more likely that it's simply failed?
  11. My turn signals have suddenly stopped working. They don't flash either on the console or on on the car itself. They worked one night and the next morning they just didn't. I have checked all the fuses under the steering column and they all light up on both metal contacts. All of the fuses under the hood do as well (at least those that have metal contacts). Any leads or places to start would be useful. I will report back here with my progress. Thanks, folks.
  12. You need a genuine Subaru part. There's also an aftermarket one that uses the same as the Subaru part, but I can't recall the name.

  14. What is the purpose of the switch other than to drain the battery?
  15. It's likely the HGs are gone. Perhaps they are drill a few holes in the theromostat in order to limp home.
  16. You MUST only use a Subaru OE t-stat or the Stant Exac-stat - part number 48457. If you use whatever they have at the parts store then you will have issues.
  17. Subarus, not Subaru's. Never use an apostrophe to pluralize a word. You will be judged.
