  1. I was thinking of trying to start a kind of AAA for Subie owners. It would contain people who like helping other people. Say if a Sube owner ran outta gas, another would bring them some gas for little or no charge. Just cost of gas milage and the gas itself. OR maybe someone like me who got sand in their fuel filters and spent 2.5 hours going from FLorence OR to Eugene OR (about 60 miles), could call one of the people from the network and they'd hook them up with another filter. I thought, if the network was big enough we could have response areas or even shifts. EH just an Idea. Any suggestions/comments? Spread it on. THanks for your time HTi-Johnson
  2. when is WCSS? SOrry, I tried searching and didn't have any luck within the span of my attention.
  3. I looked in my haynes manual, it doesn't ahve a relay(flasher) in the schmatic either. THat's weird, you hear it when it works. Oh yeah...Subes are the greatest cars ever. They just have electrical problems...probably the biggest downfall. But nothing is perfect...subes just come damn close. HEY ANYONE LIVE CLOSE TO K FAlls OREGON to help this guy out? Good Luck
  4. Maybe you can hook up with a Board member that lives in oregon (if you go with the sweet home radiator shop) and have them pick it up and ship i tto you. (I live in Oregon, and like to help people out.. HINT HINT)
  5. I'd say fuel filters or clogged CAT maybe? He says it takes a while to rev down? Maybe because too much back pressure? Keep us up to date
  6. I've heard of a couple maybes... a head gasket could be leaky and exhaust could be getting in your water, heating it up.:-\ Maybe your radiator needs to be cleaned or replaced? If you suspect the gasket do a compression check. If it is your water pump, take the belt off and see if there is a lot of play in the shaft of the pump by moving the pulley in different directions. It will move slightly, like micrometers, normally, but if it moves too much it is dead. Or check the weeper holes a little bit after you run it, if they are dripping...probably dead. Keep us informed on your progress.
  7. Have you checked connections? And when you say starts again...do you mean by itself?n Check the coil, alternator and disty wires. Fuel filter clogged? Something in the fuel lines? How about if you rev it right after you start? Does it stay started? Fouled plugs? Good Luck. Keep us informed.
  8. PSSH Honda parts on a SUbe WTH!
  9. just in case All 1981s throught 1984 MT 700rpm AT 800 1985s DL Model 4 spd- 650rpm 5 spd- 700rpm GL Model MT - 700rpm AT - 800rpm ALL TURBOs MT - 700rpm AT - 800rpm 1987 thru 1989 All Carbs - 700rpm SPFI - 700rpm MPFI MT - 700rpm AT - 800rpm 1990 throught 1994 All models - 700 All turbo models - 800
  10. all 1986 turbo models are 25btdc. Did you check your coolant temp sensor? or your air intake temp sensor?
  11. Fine then, use a spiffy hammer when you plan on saving the axle. But why when you are going to replace it?
  12. All 1981s throught 1984 MT 700rpm AT 800 1985s DL Model 4 spd- 650rpm 5 spd- 700rpm GL Model MT - 700rpm AT - 800rpm ALL TURBOs MT - 700rpm AT - 800rpm
  13. Oh and, I think i used two hammers, one on the axle then another one hitting it to transfer the force.
  14. HIt the damn axle straight on with a hammer, just a normal hammer. THen it will pop off, after a couple hits.
  15. Maybe a switch for o2 sensor on or off? To test/perma fix?
  16. HEy just in case...seafoam is a type/brand of cleaner. So don't go to the ocean and get some, then pour it in your engine
  17. A way to see if your coil wire is sparking is to pull it out of the disty cap and stick it close to a ground and have someone turn the car over, if a spark jumps from the end of wire to the ground source, your coil is fine. WARNING: you yourself can become a ground... for some reason the electricity likes me. How many volts through a coil 40,000? But weak amps (THANK GOD). I have been zapped 3times by plug wires and 2 times from coil wires.. and I am still around to eat sleep and live Subes
  18. Markings on the engine? If it wasn't swapped? I think on the heads it says
  19. Fuel filters can cause a lot of problems. When was the last time you changed them? If your car has 2, I know EA81s do and they cause hell every now and then. As for the CAT you can do what some people do, take the guts out. I've heard some people cut open their CATS and rip the honey comb shiz out, I think it might be asbestos so watch out.
  20. I take it that Subes have a little bit of tolerance between the valves and pistons....since breaking belts doesn't seem like that big of a deal. I've heard on other cars if the belt goes while driving....you just ordered yourself a new engine.
  21. Cold it be the coil itself? He said he wasn't getting a spark on the coil wire, I'm assuming that's what he meant about the wire going to the distributor.
  22. Valve Clearance (Engine COld): Intake - 0.010 inch (0.25 MM) Exhaust - 0.014 Inch (0.35 MM) That's straight from my book.
  23. The Goat...within a week of reading this message board I learned that NGK or Bosch Platinum plugs are the choice...and you want a little more power/efficiency? Get an Accell SuperStock Ignition Coil it's number is 8140. And plug wires...I have no clue. Good Luck and welcome to the USMB!
  24. What kind of filters do you use, i've looked for some holley triangles...no luck.. I'll take a picture of the cars and check the tire prints. This 4rth of july weekend, i took my sube back out on the sand... she did awesome. No problems. But I only aired down to 20 PSI and the tranny temp light came on after about 45 mins. I actually had to put it in 2nd gear...that's the fastest the car has been on the sand...of course the hard stuff.
  25. I cut the CAT and took all the guts out and welded it back together. now I ordered the Flowmaster for it
