ok, like i said pretty rusty , but good interior , yes i did notice the top of the motor leaking oil , drive axles look good, also very dirty , owner says it needs a brake line , i would say it has been sitting 1-2 years , if i remember 100,000mi ,it is a 5sp no 4wd
-
went and looked at it 100,000mi 5sp , pretty rusty , interior good, glass good, owner is trying to grt title and sell it
-
might be able to get one , not sure if it is a 4sp or a/t or even 4wd , are they pretty good cars, ? wife did not want to stop and look, been sitting in same spot for a few months , any thing to look for ? bad axles, timing bets, oil leaks, ?
-
yes it is a 2 row radiator , might just get a new radiator , but a oil cooler would be nice also , but remember my wife is driving it ,soooo all the extra stuff will have to be put some where nicely mounted , thanks
-
here is a answer for my problem , tell wife to stay home , do not run ac ,
-
the radiator was check out by a radiator shop , good pressure , all fins, no leaks, my wife drives it , can not take out ac condensor , very hot around here ,it only gets hot [ 3/4 on temp gauge] when the ac is on and running 75mpr
-
ok, the radiator will not get hot 3/4 way unless you have the ac on , if the ac is off radiator temp is 1/2 way running 75mpr , ok on a tranny cooler , remember it is a 4 speed a/t full time 4wd wagon , would doing a tranny flush help ?i am still thinking it is a bad radiator , because last summer everything was good ,but different radiator was in it ,
-
yes, on the shifter it says do not drive hard with light on, my wife was not driving hard , tranny fluid is good + the power light came on ,but is off now , the tranny lines were both replaced no leaking

my wife was driving the full time 4wd a/t 88 turbo gl-10 wagon, she said the oil temp light came on + power light , but also the ac was running and starting to get pretty hot , 1 bar below the red , she shut off the ac and temp gauge came down, i know now it needs a new 2 row radiator , but what about the oil temp gauge, ? i am using castrol 20w 50 gtx , oil was at full mark + coolant was full , thanks
-
my 88 d/r wagon has higher oil pressure ,but i am using amsoil oil 10w 30 , 75psi , with regular oil about 60 psi , and the oil has been in there 3,800 miles , so my guess it is ok,

backing firing problem /84 ea81 brat
86subaru replied to 86subaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
it will back fire after it warms up and winding up the gears ,like between 2-3 gear , but just a week before it ran fine , i took 1 plug wire off at a time to regap the plugs , tomorrow i will recheck and close off vac lines when setting timing , :-\ -
new stuff called motorkote
86subaru replied to 86subaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
it will all depend on the car ,each car will vary , just what i have been reading and talking to people using it , it is equal or better than mobile 1 , there is a board member using royale purple and will not use anything else , forgot his board name , as far as motorkote i was just wondering if anyone else has heard about it , there is a difference in oil ,just like oil filters
