well found another awd a/t legacy L wagon, 213,000mi , new tires, new timming belt, brakes all done, oil leak fixed, new fan belt, , some rust on both fenders, alittle rust on the back , only thing i could see it needed was an exhaust from the cat back, ac needed recharged , owner says the dealer put a new headgasket on, what size of pipe should i use if i buy it from the cat back to the muffler ? he wants 1500 bucks ,but i think i could get it for 1200-1300 , all the above work was done 2,000 miles ago , thanks

i am thinking about buying a 1994 awd a/t wagon w/ 142,000mi , real clean, no rust , no dents, light blue, it needs a passanger side drive axle, other than that seems good, but iam not sure of the timming belts or belt, is there just 1 timming belt? how long do they last ? is there anything else that is common problem ? working on them is just as easy as a ea82 motors ? how about mpg ? the used car lot wants 2200 bucks , but of course talk him down like 1900

here is a question , so can you put ATF in the oil and drive it for a good distance ? or what you are saying is pour it in idle it a few minutes and change it along with the filter ? how much ATF can you add ? thanks

i had the same problem , in the same place , i changed the oil / filter , with chevron 15w-40 over 1000 miles ago and it has not come back

no JOHN ,it is the sedan , it is the first problem i have had in 3 years since i got the car ,the other 2 are running ok, i have never pulled the motor from the sedan or any major work done, besides timming belts, front seals , exhaust , tires, the spare alt i have [1] will only fit the turbo wagon -

well it started right up , i dove it about 5 mi and it started to loose power ,just with the headlights on , i barely made it home , battery gauge was bottomed out , so i found a problem the hot wiring going to the alt, fixed that , but of course by this time the battery is dead , got a jump start , [ it is a very cold rain] car started , but alt is bad now , all the bottom lights are on, [ oil, brake, etc... ] so i looked around for a different alt , but all my spares are junk , the smaller type will not work , so i got mad , and put it all back togather , started it and parked it over to 1 side of the gravel , the auto stores around here have to order all my parts , [ wait till spring] -
thanks guys , but my wife wants a new 1 now , since i just spent 1.5 hours trying to get my 86 sedan running [ wiring problem] because less likely to break down , florida is alittle far , but hey spend some time on the beach , i may call him and offer 1900 , but it to can break down in a month etc...

the blower motor is good, also the resistor pack is good, i ran a wire from the green/white wire to fuse box [ 15 amp fuse] all 4 speeds work and heat, but i noticed that my battery gauge reads below 12 volts, it always read right at 12 before , and everything is moving slowly , wipers, windows, , so did i cause a new problem ? or is there something else wrong ? or should i put the wire coming from the green/ whire to a 20 amp fuse ?

Blue Book Value '86GL Wagon??
86subaru replied to Chongo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i think the biggest thing aleast around here is the amount of rust, and dents, and then interior ,any major work needed on it -
well there is no power there , i will look at it in the morning , i am not sure about the resistor at the blower motor ? i do have several spare blower motors if that is the problem , or is there a resistor on the blower motor or are you talking about the resistor pack that controls the speed of the fan ?
