  1. i wouldnt go throwing parts at it unless i checked the clearances first and verified they are out of spec.
  2. you get the same thing in an air cooled vw, especially if its rare like a type 34 or something
  3. why dont i see that listed on kyb's website
  4. 5w40 for me its not the oil im positive. at 130k miles i say its safe to say that the engine is worn enough to rebuild. that and it has an unknown history.
  5. pcv was ok last i checked and virtually every engine seal leaks anyway. so i have to pull the engine anyway may as well rebuild it.
  6. the directions for the clock are in the owners manual!!! IM NOT KIDDING ok it goes like this if your lazy hold the dsp or similar button and push the clock one ^ is the minuites and the other is the hours
  7. the old car is starting to smoke when i start it and its got a ton of blowby. I hope its in good enough shape that all i need to do is re-ring it and get a valve job. maybe ill do a little light porting as well.
  8. i cant wait to see dyno of this. RickOregon, why would you want to do that yourself? It takes a very stout machine to do so, you just cant stick it in a bridgeport with a boring bar.
  9. if you want to move a torque curve why not have the cam reground?
  10. OEM subaru tools, spare coil, slimjim, jumper cables. fluids, jerry can off the top of my head
  11. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=38643&item=7963901836&rd=1 legacy?
  12. I love that sticker. I wonder where i can find one
  13. yeah that was just an example. theres quite a few on the market.
  14. no no no NO you need something called a strut plate or camber plate. they are marketed to imprezas but fit your car see how it allows you to position the top of the strut ideally http://www.renickmotorsports.com/oscommerce/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/132_138_183/products_id/514
  15. i figure the best size for the pre turbo exhaust is around the same size as the hole for the turbine? i wasnt thinking of the pre turbo exhaust in my post at all!
  16. you mean the inlet on the compressor side? i would guess any restriction would make it worse. lag is made worse by exhaust restriction more than anything, then the volume of air between the turbo and the engine inside the piping. huge intercoolers and sutch definalty make turbo lag worse. I think that every engine that i have driven with a variable vane turbo had worse lag than normal turbos. like the ford 6.0 wow it doesnt even kick in until 2nd gear.
  17. the company on my link sells offset lug studs, but i wouldnt trust them as VWs use lug bolts instead of lug nuts. so the hub would need to be threaded.
  18. ok ive never seen a 4 lug air cooled vw EVER. is this it? http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ACC%2DC10%2D1002
