  1. i guess i should have worded that different.. my past experience is the stud does come out with the nut when removing the exhaust.. pb should help this from doing so.. i misplaced my haynes.. but, is there an actual torque rating which should be applied when retightening? rllywgn
  2. if your worried about about stripping.. spray the nuts with pb and let sit over night.. should be good to go by the next day.. ive had to spray and respray before, but that depends on how bad they are to begin with.. should be easier to undo when the motors stone cold due to heat expansion.. 2 cents rllywgn
  3. turbo sentra.. not that im aware of.. Im going jy'ing on monday... hopefully with a little luck ill find something.. rllywgn
  4. it is a pita... but it can be done with small hands.. it is a molded tube and recommended as a dealer peice. i found a tube that was similar at napa and used it. retain the factory heat shield tubing and patience is the key.. it is possible to do without tearing everything apart, but it easier if you remove the turbo..
  5. what about evacuating the original r12? must this be done before the conversion? mine runs pretty good with it's original r12 but converting seems tempting to get it ice cold.. the kits ive seen come with adaptors and fill instructions.. but what about the trace amounts left when not vacuumed out? or is this even an issue? rllywgn
  6. those were 6 lug wheels, some shop redrilled, filled and repainted the wheels.. the kits is crazy similar.. i saw an oldschool sentra 4 door the other day with a very similar kit.. if i can find it at a jy ill see how close it is to our ea82 sedans rllywgn
  7. I'll second radiator barn.. I've purchased two different radiators from them, very knowlegable, semi fast shipping (5days domestic) and free shipping to the U.S. and parts of canada.. get a two row.. rllywgn
  8. a shop once recommended in checking for cracked heads that loosening the blots to the exhaust manifold and sliding in a piece of white paper then retightening the bolts, let sit overnight and remove the paper in the morning.. if theres a fluid leak in the head it will show there.. when the engine cools and the metal shrinks fluid will leak.. it helped diagnose a cracked head for me... not saying thats the issue you have, but an option for checking.. rllywgn
  9. i had what seemed to be the same problem a few years back on my rx.. is it blowing the gaskets at the head? that is where mine had the problem, each week i was replacing the gaskets.. car sounded like a lawnmower.. the solution to my problem was a new header (if thats what i can call it) the shop ordered a new oem at 174.00 and viola... never had the problem again.. they said the original was warped i imagine you could probably find a good one at a PaP for alot less.. rllywgn
  10. on turbo cars i would think it's a must.. I have a fc rx-7 oil cooler that I'm hoping to hook up... keep the turbo a little cooler and from what i've heard the heads have very little wall thickness.. anything to keep from cracking a head.. my thoughts is the sandwich adaptor of the oil filter or lines intersecting the turbo oil inlet.. from the turbo inlet im worried that it may interupt flow to much so the adaptor at the filter may be best.. plus increased capacity couldnt be bad rllywgn 109 degrees with a/c blasting in vegas, and the subie is still runnin at 190... lovin it.. RLLYWGN DESERT PREP!
  11. on 87 and newer hotwire ea82's its been said that there's a nissan adaptor that works and suberdave has a nice one with an elbow... anyone have part numbers or know's which vehicle specifics yr/make/model? thanks rllywgn
  12. yes that river is one big party... i worked at a bar called roadrunner... all i can say is wow... those were some crazy summers..
  13. i lived in parker, az for 3 years (just south of lake havasu) and i think i had the only subaru in town.. las vegas has a handful... lots of wrx's though rllywgn
  14. neither car had rust visible.. the brat had some dents that needed to be worked out (fender and tailgate) and the wagon looked pretty not bad. the wagon had the tartan rear seat and what appears to be later model front seats and a manual (4spd?) dual range. I'll have to take a closer look at the brat to see what its drivetrain consists of. both of them had what appeared to be complete motors.. most subaru's down here sit relatively untouched (what few there are) at the jy's I would hope that some fanatic could save both of them but it's a long shot.. as for parts i know they both have some desirable peice's on them.. I may be able to help with this but a 6 day work week makes time precious but im willing to pull a few peices for those willing to pay for them.. rllywgn
  15. like this.. except silver striping with turbo decals... same wheels.. same t-tops.. and 4wd skip... i had to "borrow" your picture.. sorry and thanks
  16. in case some one has been desperatly searching for a ea81 turbo 4wd brat with glass t-top's theres one in the nevada pick-a-part... sorry no pics theres also a ea81 wagon with a push bar and cyclops eye sorry about the pic size... the brat is very restorable and almost complete... my knowledge of the ea81 cars is slim but all i can see that its missing is the turbo on the brat rllywgn
  17. you need the custom type intake.. basically, ea82's don't have much for aftermarket support.. your best bet in some cases atleast is making your own.. depending on how your fuel is delivered (carb, spfi, mpfi, mpfi turbo) you'll need an adaptor for the MAF and tubing or just a cone filter with an adaptor. some toyota celica's and a few nissans share the same pattern for the intake adaptor. be creative and in some cases you'll save money good luck rllywgn
  18. so if i understand this correctly... for those in the process of doing a 5lug swap (myself) i can use legacy hubs, spindles, rotors, axle's and xt6 brake calipers? this is a good thing... not to hijack but do all legacy's have 25 spline axles? i think im going sunday to grab some legacy stuff... and some xt6 calipers rllywgn
  19. any suggestions on how to actually hook up a oil cooler.. best place to run the lines and from where? I have one from a 2nd gen RX-7.. would be pretty not bad to throw that in the mix.. rllywgn
  20. i try to align my karma every few months... it's a good thing.. this post may be better aligned in the classified section rllywgn
  21. get an aftermarket gauge, mine had a tendency to trip out also, most digidash cars do. theres alot of gauges you can throw in there. I used an equus temp gauge which is available at wal-mart and has the correct adaptor in the package. with your cooling system in ship shape condition there should be very little change under boost conditions atleast not for a few minutes or more.. rllywgn
  22. the PaP's here arent exactly the best for subaru's, Pheonix on the other hand is a goldmine.. i found more ea82's there then in the portland area yards.. styles if you have a idler pulley i'll buy it from ya. mines locked up so no a/c for now.. i havent found an ea82 in any of the yards here.. i used to live in az, just outside of lake havasu... I've nearly mastered desert prepping subaru's. my turbo wagon ran like a champ down here with a/c. it's somewhere in colorado now living the good life.. rllywgn
  23. well, after spending the last year in washington state, My lady and I moved back to Vegas.. the T-sedan on a car hauler behind a PIECE OF $^% budget truck that had a willingness to overheat on any incline.. so yeah, the drive sucked... but we're home now and the subaru is safe and sound. Just wondering If theres any subaru folk here? I know reno has a few people.. but is vegas too hot? if signatures ever make there way back.. mine will once again read "no mud.. damn desert.. rllywgn
  24. the shop that rebuilt a set of turbo heads for me told me there the same except for a few plugs.. but the plugs can be swapped.. i assume he is right, havent heard any different.. as long as the disty is on the correct side.. rllywgn
  25. which dual electric? i'd like to be able to ditch my mechanical fan if there was an electric that was capable of the same or better airflow.. my soob will be on its way to las vegas pretty soon so keeping cool is a must.. rllywgn
