Running temperature on EA82T ?
rllywgn replied to habib99's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
the 2 row is from radiatorbarn.com, about 130 bucks and free shipping. I've purchased a few from them for various subaru's.. excellent service and shipping. The mechanical fan is still in place and the electric is run with 14g wire and a 25 amp fuse with a switch on the dash. i must say though i have done some modifications to the front but it ran like this before i cut things up.. rllywgn -
Running temperature on EA82T ?

I've got an 88 turbo sedan.. it runs at 192 all the time... it has a 2 row radiator and i run the fan on a switch.. long hills it will go up a degree or two but thats it... rllywgn -
most amps have plastic or rubber feat.. if they dont the amp doesnt ground against the case. sounds like your amp is going into protection mode.. what make and model is it? how are the speaker wires run? rllywgn
-
check the heat of the amp when its shutting off. amps are pretty straight forward when it comes to hook up. power wire with a fuse (no more then 16" from battery), ground , remote turn on (use your switched on), and your audio input RCA's. if your just running subs, the cutting out may have something to do with how the subs are wired... series, parrallel, bridged, etc.. how is yours run? also is the amp new? used? are you sure the amp isnt toast? rllywgn

rllywgn replied to Durania's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...

egr solenoid maybe.. my turbo was doing that also.. replaced it with an egr from an older carb civic and all good so far (2 months). rllywgn

I put it on Cardomain! my work in progress..
rllywgn replied to rllywgn's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
leon, you should throw up a cardomain page... took me about 20 minutes, you got a good basis for more building. nice car rllywgn -
the dynamat is great for sound deading! but heavy too.. on the inside of the doors use the spray stuff (if your going that route), alot easier then laying the mat in there.. Also spray foam works awesome for filling cavities and does wonders for sound deading without adding heaps of weight. hope this helps in some way... rllywgn

I've been under the impression that the 2wd disty has a different advance.. is this not true? rllywgn

New (to me) '92 Loyale, pics, questions.
rllywgn replied to Syonyk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
the wagon wheels you have 3 of are cool.. keep an eye for a 4th and have them painted or powdercoated and they'll look real sharp.. imo rllywgn -

ill give this a shot.. 1. your pressure sounds good, 50-70 on cold start, when warm you should have 10psi (or so) for every 1k rpm.. 2. mine leaks around the resevoir base.. maybe there.. 3. the fenders may be easier to replace then repaire in some cases (money) your local junkyard should be able to help.. 4. your paint process sounds good, the rear wheel well has a tendency to rust through pretty easy.. take care of the rust soon.. POR15 works well for rust if it isnt major 5. same as above 6. no pics but tint is always nice 8. the stereo.. get a scosche harness ( any car audio store should be able to get this) running your own speaker wire will help ALOT, the factory wiring uses a common ground. I used 5 1/4" speakers in all doors.. very easy.. very few 5 1/4"s will NOT fit.. meaning almost all will work.. 8a. i always thought the rear hatch panel would be a good spot to put some speakers, but it would need bracing and cutting.. 9. use grease on the window brackets.. they "dry" out.. certainly after this long.. sometimes the motors due go south but, start with the grease 10. with the mirror off the door (3 screws and a plug) you may be able to get to the fold back hinge.. 11. hmm... 5 lug conversion.. rear disks conversion.. are you gonna be more street? or more dirt? hope this is a step in the right direction for ya... nice car rllywgn -
so back in 98 I made a bad decision and traded my pristine 89 rx turbo coupe in for a front wheel drive 93 impreza (totaled). it was black with red moulding stripe. it was originally a black/gold combo but it didnt sit well with me.. the interior was grey and it had an auto tranny.. when i traded it in it had 85k on it.. so it went to wongleflute hannah automall in Vancouver, washington after that i have no idea.. does anyone here have it or seen it? just wondering how it is.. rllywgn

front suspension use the xt6 lower control arms and tie rod ends. use the impreza axles, hubs, brakes, struts and what not.. the front strut tower bolts can be modified for impreza struts... just some grinding.. you may want to figure out something for an e-brake.. you will lose this when using impreza calipers.. rear suspesion you need the hub, rotor, and backing plate from a xt6 and your good.. rllywgn

the 60ft time is good.. a better reaction timewould have probably got you near the high 13's.. good show chap! you have an ej tranny... it takes alot more abuse then the ea trans.. give it hell! i need some cash and a wrx front clip.. you got me drooling superdave rllywgn

Just to let you guys and girls know... in case your wondering... last week i replaced my busted EGR solenoid with one from a 86 honda civic 1.5 carb. and i imagine other hondas will work... i rewired the plug from old subaru solenoid onto the honda unit, drilled out the mounting hole to fit the subaru bolt and viola... no check engine light since... car still boggs down though... gotta get that figured out.. rllywgn

im posting this here because it's the most visible section and the car isnt for sale in the general sense of the word.. At the Tigard, Oregon U-pull-it theres a new edition to the yard.. an 85 maybe 86 (judging by the front turn signals) RX sedan.. faded stickers on doors, bodykitless, ft4wd trans, ea82t. its dark grey with grey interior.. from what i could see the only thing that appeared missing were the wheels, and the fuel tank was in the trunk.. a upullit thing i guess i think someone should buy it.. iirc theres 134k on the ticker.. I'm getting ready to move again so it's outta my hands if not the whole car, theres a whole cars worth of rx parts for someone rllywgn

i have an idea. has anybody beat me to this mod?
rllywgn replied to dragonfire's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i dont know if anyones beaten you to it.. but it should be as easy as swapping the assembly with the buckets and all.. both core supports are the same from what ive seen.. is there something wrong with the factory 1 peice or just like the looks better? rllywgn -
Radio adapter for 87 GL-10
rllywgn replied to Gl-boost's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
scosche makes the dash adaptor and harness plug about 25-30 bucks for both. wal-mart may have the harness but you may need to get the dash adaptor from a stereo shop yeah it will stick out an extra inch but the adaptor makes it look nice and pretty... . make sure your harness plug comes with a single wire plug. i've seen some without it... its your memory/12v constant iirc. also for best results wire rewire your speakers. the factory system uses a common ground rllywgn -
the 16g is a lovely turbo.. you could get 200-250 for it on ebay.. i'm not terribly sure that even with supporting mods the ea82t could handle it.. not with stock heads atleast.. you could run an external wastegate and regulate it at 8-10psi get some 280zx 83-85 nissan fool injectors too.. rllywgn

the td05 on the eclipses uses a t3/t4 style exhaust inlet flange. you would need to modify the up-pipe flange. also you will need to fabricate an elbow for the intake tube, the td05 eclipse intake runs straight in.. the oil and water lines will just need to be modified to work, the downpipe flange at the turbo will also need to be modified, use a wrx unit with the flange from the eclipse.. hope this is a start.. rllywgn

i have the same problem, cel will come on once in a while for a moment... almost always when under throttle, not wide open though. when i let off the gas it goes off... when i get home and try to pull codes.. nada.. the all clear is all i get.. ack.. im i hijacking a thread? im thinking o2 sensor but egr solenoid could be it too.. at seperate times the car bogs down under initial throttle input, but no cel.. it baffles me on occasion.. the other times i try to figure it out... nothing yet rllywgn

i have noticed some inconsistencies also... the movement on the digi fuel gauge doesnt seem linear at all.. i'll get 110miles out of the top 1/4 tank and 120 on the rest of the tank by what the gauge says. I'm almost positive i need a new O2 sensor but, how much is left when the gauge has 1-2 bars or when it shows empty?i think im around 19-20mpg on a ft4wd sedan.. rllywgn
