safety issues with rust
if you are riding it hard and they have not busted through yet, then keep trying.i had a hell of a rust bucket at one time and romped the piss out of her in the oregon backcountry and drove out several times.granted it wasn't pretty, and it wasn't noiseless, but it worked.if you are that concerned,do a 4x swap onto the other car and forget about it.

55 willyswagon.....ej22ishness
the gearing is in the willys is 4.88.so technically it should push it. the torque ratio is more of what i am looking at.how can i get more low end torque from the ej?at the weight difference they have, pulling the 6 and going to the ej should even out the weight pretty much.i mean ,what am i not understanding about the torque issues?can someone please educate me for ************ 's sake

strut tower lift block input
i would really think that you need it to be "loaded".......ya know, give a couple shots of whiskeyand some beer:lol:i would think that you would need to load it so that your camber can be adjusted, unless you have a way to adjust it.........cheers,brian

55 willyswagon.....ej22ishness
i am currently contemplating putting an ej22 into my 55 willys.i have been looking at weights, torque and horsepower ratings and i am wondering if they will even each other out.the 137hp,137@3400rpm... legacy ....opposed to 105 hp,190@1400..willys.....the weight of the vehicles, believe it or not ,only has a difference of 500 pounds or so.whatcha thinkin?

Plan B..er C? D?.....A New Plan
the airflow characteristics i was looking at with my dubrod had the placement exactly where you are locating it.i actually was going to take the entire firewall and flipupside down with the 90 degree angle going into the cabin and just add sides.cut a hatch and voile'.with more room you are able to mount pretty much whatever fan you wanted including ,possible a 12 volt operated squirrel cage fan, otherwise known as a heater fan on steroidws(was going tobuild if could not buy reasonably).was hoping to find one with enough power that it could push hot air from the radiator through something like you have into the cabin for heat.just thoughts of the maniacal carbuilder in me.who knows.yours is definitely on the level.the only other thing i came up with was to build a roof wide scoop about an inch tall to curve down through the side pillars in the rear with sculpted venting onto the radiator, wait, your building a baja.why don't you just get a roof vent and pipe it to your radiator.i was dealing with a rod.you have the perfect out ,at least it seems that way to me.cheers, brian

ej22 to vw beetle
they cannot help with clearance issues, subframe issues, weight distribution, and so on.at least not as much as someone that knows his subie engine, and his dub chassis like the back of his hand.

6 inch plus lift Steering Q's
old school tie rod.cut steering shaft, place into ends of desired length of tie rod....weld. it helps if you use a piece of angle iron to keep stuff squared up.... with that angle you will probably have to grind a bit off of the end of your steering column so it doesn't rub horribly.

ej22 to vw beetle

Why dont you guys take I.S. to the next level?
i have been researching this for a while now.longer travel struts, rebuilt crossmember with hoops at the top and cvs that are extendable like some driveshafts.of course custom control arms.these are all in the works for the brat.i have already built a prototype for the struts, but not long enough for what i want to achieve.it is all coming around slowly.you know as well as i do morgan that money plays a huge part in all of it.when another rig is less modified and more capable, people tend to gravitate towards it.whatever rig it may be.just my 2 cents.
