  1. yes, buy it.And If you don't end up using it, I'll buy it. I need another one.
  2. The Suzuki transfercase is ridiculously stout. I have seen a guy on 40's spin his tires and beat on one for over a year before it broke in half. It was geared at 6.5:1. Trust me, they are HIGHLY underrated by people. The hard part is, finding one for sale. lol If they are mounted right, they can last for a long long time. Oh, and FYI, the gears are about 500 a set. At least the last time I bought a set they were. cheers Oh, and you are over thinking it. Until you reach like 50:1 and below(numbers going up), it really is all the same. tens and thousands here are irrelevant......
  3. Your first gear ratio x diff ratio x t-case =crawl ratio That trans would be like, 3.59x 4.11 x 2.7(just an example)=39.83 The final drive ratio in our world correlates to the entire system, where as in a Toyota world it is simply from the diffs. The lower your first gear is , the better. Hence as to why you may have heard "Granny gear".

A 2 incher is uber easy to make too........ Long time no see yo....
  5. The 34/34 from some old Fiats works pretty well, I did a 32/36 with an RAF custom manifold. I could not get the clutch to catch so didna ever drive it.But it ran GOOD. cheers
  6. There is probably a vacuum diagram under the hood. I would get it running and take it to Subaru for a coolant flush. They MAY not do it for you .But aS clean as that car is, I would give it a shot. That way you totally get the right coolant in there. And done by a tech. Or you could just let me trade it out of you. cheers
  7. I ended up making my own. the t case mount anyway. My buddy basically draws stuff on the fly,he is kinda really good that way. So I dunno if he kept the file or not. There is a website that has some free share files with a link on Pirate4x4 ,or an internet search ...... Umm.....there Is no divorced Toyota adapters anymore. So ,if you would. Private message me and tell me how you decide to go about that. Cheers By the way.if you are talking about the engine to trans adapter, that's a Bill Hincher special. And there is not a damn thing funny about it. Its flat out awesome:)
  8. I'm already here. Cheers biatches
  9. I started assembling the engine yesterday afternoon. So far,New Waterpump, front seals and cleaned up the coolant tube.Got some plastic on her too. I will obviously be at the show this weekend. So I will get back to working on it next week.
  10. He is not setup for stuff like that.lol But I would be interested in a 4l80e adapter to an EJ car!
  11. You can actually cut the bottom inch out of that pumpkin and still clear the diff ring gear.It equates to about 2 tire sizes of clearance.
  12. I would say that it would be alot more work. BUT, if it is what you want to do, then do it. I would not try to run bigger than 31's though.Unless it had the awesome first gen rear axles. cheers
  13. Stock tires with aheavy foot nets me an average of 21-25. And we all know how I drive..... cheers
  14. I started cleaning up the EJ18 I will be stabbing in there. I plan on putting it in all freshened up to get her running and driving. That way I can test out my suspension and make sure that my front axle does not hit the oil pan. I am thinking about keeping the entire harness for ease. That will be fun to put in. I have found a couple of hiccups in the tubing. Gotta get on fixing those. Bunch of little stuff left. haven't BEEN very motivated to do the dirty work..lol Still need to swap the shift fork around on the t-case, and seal it . I'll hit the parts store in the morning, and get some more brakleen. Then on to the cleaning.. cheers
  15. Samurai t-case.Tuck it up.Totally do-able because of flat nature.Uber strong case, light and semi available.
  16. Less talk more build. lol You have the capability to build something good. Now do it.....
  17. monstaru replied to Uberoo's topic in Off Road
GLAD you found another body!!! Jeff should chime in here pretty quick . As for the axles. Just take them out and physically inspect them. After all, you have time. cheers
  18. We are trying to help you not make a fab mistake. We are not looking for Subie gearsets. .... Not saying it cannot be done. That's what your not hearing. It just isn't the proper route to go . This is from people that have thought about , drank about, read about a billion different offroad ideas. Oh yeah, We might build stuff too.........lol cheers
  19. NICE FIX! PICTARS!PICTARS!
  20. I don't believe in TACT, I believe in shock loading. I believe in gaining skill. Reading and hashing things to death whilst not understanding is not learning. GO PRACTICE DRIVING. It is the only thing that is gonna help you. Unless you mount the proper size winch on your vehicle. If it is your wifes, and under warranty, STay on forest service roads. Because you don't belong in the area you are talking about. Having the capability to utilize your given tools is not easy if you don't even understand the concept. I can see the winch cable snapping now. Hurting someone that has no business being there in the first place. Costing taxpayers tons of cash for the extraction ,and at the same time giving "wheelers" bad press. Believe it or not, I am all for helping. Ask anyone that ACTUALLY knows me. Instead of people on here that are to damn sensitive to see it. I would say the higher heart rate is good for you. But I don't get it this way. lol Literally a simple search on winches would have covered ALL of this info. Instead we have a bunch of engineers, that have "read" this , or "seen" this. And a few that have used the wrong equipment and keep breaking it. The damn reason is because it is not meant to be used that way.DUH So I'm the spardnubbin that has to say , "hey dumbass, buy the right equipment or don't put yourself in harms way?" For fawks sake. I got tired of living in a "PC" world a long time ago. I hope you hurt yourself just to tame the stupid.......
  21. Billy knew Exactly what he was doing. Going with a small pinioned rearend is not smart when you beat on spoob. On top of the fact that LOCKERS and GEARS is the WHOLE reason for going to a solid rear.... He was beyond your thought process lol He has moved on to better wheelers . And More room for his family Billy built shiit more skookum than anyone else I have seen. It is a shame that he moved away from building our kits, and projects like these.
  22. You will have to find someone to build all of that for you. It won't be cheap .That is unless you just do a basic strut top block of like an inch, then gomore aggressive slightly larger(like one size)tires. You should actually read all of the old school information, so you are educated about it when you start trying to find someone to build things for you. I would not have bought a brand new car to do it with .Although the ground clearance alone is a good starting point . You should have researched prior to buying.Especially if this was the plan from the get go. You are more suited to be over at OUTBACK.org Good luck finding stuff to bolt on. And if all this does come to fruition, don't forget to post pics. I would like to see some new sheet metal getting bashed lol cheers
  23. K,So. I have taken an entire EJ Lego dash and cut it back, Then cut it back some more .Then some more. Then realized that it might just be easier to wire the Toyota dash to the Subie wiring. It is such a learning process. LOL DOH! I have had donations for an overflow tank by a buddy that just did his refrigerant for better AC . So that's awesome.. Is coming together well. Just need to focus on the little things. lol.. cheers

Unless it is considered legal for you to do that , Please don't talk about it here. Now , that being said. The Justy is pretty awesome. But unless you have several of them lying around. Finding parts is not an awesome endeavor. I will always love wheeling Subarus. But until I can have a park for JUST SUB?ARUS, I will not have another for more than tooling around in. There are few that can actually drive a Ru properly in the offroad scenario. There are a few that are learning as we speak.lol If you want more Offroad/wheeling , YOU HAVE TO MOVE ON. If not then, cool.jEnjoy it.BUT, know your limits. cheers cheers
  25. To me it looks like EA running gear on about 8 inches of lift.Six lug hubs, and aftermarket wheels.(obviously)lol The rear driveshaft is to close to the front of the vehicle for a divorced case. Never seen it.Seen ALOT of them. Several floating around I am sure. Not everyone is even close to wanting to be on the computer. cheers EDIT:Also, the rear driveline/propshaft would be at a greater angle due to the length of the drivetrain.
