  1. if you just put a 2x4 between the strut tops you can roll the front by lifting up on the tailshaft of the tranny. they obviously have to be attached somehow.but this affords the ability to roll over gravel and such.just sayin.cheers, brain
  2. the hard part is moving it after you have it on the ground.as a unit,as the struts having no top mount makes for a squirrely ride. the other part is lifting the car.we have actually ran a strap from the front bumper up over the top of the car,to another soob behind it. blocked the rear wheels very well, let me say that again BLOCK THE REAR WHEELS WELL,and pulled the front end up. i would just suggest using an engine crane, and recovery strap ran through the wheel wells up front.cheers, brian
  3. hubs drilled. jig i made to hold the hub engine crossmember pattern.looks like cardboard, but is veneer from a project at work.it will be fabricated out of some structural angle iron i have layin around. cheers, brian
  4. well, it seems that the welder i ordered is on backorder.so i am trying to find one local in the same range.hopefully that happens tomorrow. that is pretty much what i am waiting on to get more motivation. now,i do have some pics of the hubs, and can snap some of the patterns.i'll do that in a bit. and as far as actually mounting anything i'll have to wait until we do not get snow for a couple of days, then shovel out the rest of the hatch.seeing as how it is buried under the temp.garage i tried erecting. let me rephrase that.i erected a temp .garage that was only engineered for about 1/64th of the snow load we have gotten ,and in turn it collapsed.with the hatch under it. we just got another 5 inches this morning.so, when i can gain access to everything it will start wholeheartedly.until then i will do small updates.. cheers, brian
  5. so, little progress, but i did get the other front hub drilled.i started making a pattern for the engine crossmember.my new welder should be here in a few days so, i will be making up all of the pieces that i can until it arrrives. i have to go get square tubing for the subframe. as i do not think i will be using the schedule 40 pipe i have. i am looking at making some longer strut rods as well. just thought i would check in.i will start a fabrication thread when i get some more done,as this thread has gone a little arai.unless there is a supercool moderator that can clean this one up for me....and i know there are several here;).cheers, brian
  6. i just love the bugeye look.thats why i initially did it.then i took a trip to wcss 8 and found another that had, way before me. i was goig to do it in the hatch and inset some lifgts in the grill as well!but alas, there are other plans for her now........as far as lights go anyway. glad you like it mate. ps,better change that avatar.... cheers!brian
  7. search.it has been covered a bunch of times. as a matter of fact it is in the perfect place to find. the usrm(ultimate subaru repair manual)cheers, brian
  8. just because they made it does not mean there is one available..call ARB in renton.they'll know.cheers, brian
  9. i was just reading back on this r180 locker.it appears that when i checked before the national arb did not have any,and neither did anyone local.low production, low sales i am guessing.cheers, brian
  10. umm, clutch type lsd's are not the best for snow.now a vlsd would be perfect for snow stuffs.which i am sure is what you meant gary.as you know way more about this stuff then i do.cheers, brian
  11. well, 1st means first gear 2nd means second gear....etc.... are you looking for the final drive ratio?that would be 3.9 or 3.7...... the reduction?are you talking low range?for a 3.9 tranny it is 1.592 3.7 tranny is 1.196 you have to be more specific.learn about what you are trying to ask and folks are more than welcome to help you.do you want a class on how reduction works?i mean,ok you don't know what you are looking at......do you know what you are looking for? in these vast interwebs we gots all kinds a' knowledge yo.but you have to know what you are looking for to get a straight answer. most of us are willing to give it.if we can.cheers, brian
  12. a simple search for tranny chart shows: cheers, brian
  13. search is yo9ur friend but in short, there is speculation about availability from nissan/nismo to fit the r180/r200 applications.the little research i have done has been unrequited.it seems to be a unicorn.but then again i am not a thorough searcher. a majority of the application is geared towards the rear wheel drive aspects of the "z" model cars and later. the sx line as well. the r160 diff found in almost every subaru vehicle has changed very little.there is ,as far as i can find, only an lsd option.these are available new from nismo for ONLY around 950 dollars.they were only an "option" in subaru vehicles.besides one . the RX. anyways,it does not look good for us in subaruland.but we live with our lsd's,vlsd's and 4wd/awd...... people have tried mounting attacks against this anamoly.but alas money stands in the way.no one that has the money , wants to spend it on a market of cheapos!:lol:cheers, brian
  14. we went through that......it may be here and not there.i have one in the hatch, but the one i sent you was in the basement.and i stripped the turbo car, before i got the hatch...... someone has to have two that are marked!!:grin:i may have to send the other one! cheers, brian
  15. the radius rod mounting plates ripped.you will need the entire subassembly that is your radius rods, plate(attachment to the body,or in your case lift)and tranny crossmember.maybe tranny mounts too...pics help alot.cheers, brian
  16. notice any difference with the weber?nice wagon, and damn, your ugly:).cheers, brain
  17. wrong link mate.......gottsta fix it sos we can see!it might be mine.cheers, brian
  18. they aare not the same.......but it is only like 2 or 3mm difference.like 19 and 21 or close anyway.your adjustable wrench i am sure is not accurate down to the mm......cheers, brain
  19. some cooking spray works on the gaskets....my temp garage collapsed under the additional 6 inches of snow we got.bummer........but i am getting round rather well.i was looking at those heaters scott, home depot?how well does it work. cheers, brian
  20. what up spark?howsit? good to see ya.cheers, brian

  22. you don't own a shovel?i mean comeon, where is your sense of urgency? i have been stuck a bajillion times.and i have never left a soldier behind.:eek:holy crap.i'm not trying to be a wongleflute, but dude , you have alot of money in that thing, time , and most of all love.what the hell are you thinking leaving it up to someone else to not hit it.for ************s sake cheers, or not....brian
