plugging the EGR valve?
i did mine for safeties sake.just in case i guess.plus it looks alot cleaner under the hood. the pipes getting crimped is a whole other issue.i usually found something to plug the holes with as opposed to crimping them as well.usually i take the fitting out and cut the pipe completely out of it,then fill it with jbweld.cleaner look as well.i do the same with my ac outlet/inlets at the fire wall. cheers, brian

"Vin 4" "Vin 5" "Vin 7"
its funny because when they ask that about gen2's they are asking about carb vs. f.i. or 2wd/4wd......

Which solid rear axle do I buy?
your not the first, and won't be the last. i have been tossing an idea around about 4 linking the rear of an ea81 hatch.......using coilovers and negating the torsion bar,or 4 linking the torsion bar and getting mad flex out of all of it with a solid "acting piece like hti is talking about..........

plugging the EGR valve?
i would put a plate over it.and have several times i made a very thick rubber gasket out of a coolant hose to go under it.....then peened it with the 16oz'er to bend over the edges and get a good seal.......cheers, brain

Nissan Xterra issue
as odd as it sounds,i had a boss with a late 90s truck that had to have the wiring harness"fluffed"...........it seemed that it was losing power continuously.....they took the engine wiing harness loose and seperated all of the wires, added some insulation to them, and it never had the problem again..... it was a heating up issue.there was no burn through on any of the wires, but the heat was not dissipating properly through the loom.so it was breeding gremlins. i dunno, sounds odd,but everything worked for a long time after that.still is.cheers, brain

What's a Headlamp "Motor"?
never did it.and i had an 86 brat.i went with what you have now jason.i liked it better.if you can find one of the independent grills out there it could be grafted to the existing piece. or you could just cut a hole ,like the man said.cheers, brian

Which solid rear axle do I buy?
from what i gather.......the older nissan cars had some pretty burly axles from what i hear.and the driveline might even match up. an isuzu rear axle out of an early truck might work.ken did that.i dunno,i say figure out u joints for the rear axles, and put a solid axle up front.thats where the real limitations are. cheers, brian

Urgent: Drive shaft broke: 88 GL10 turbo AWD
thats a broken u-joint.should cost about 20 bucks. but you may be able to pick up an entire driveline for that from the junkyard.just measure yours and find the appropriate vehicle then pull it.it is merely 4 (12mm) bolts at the rear differential.you'll need two 12mm wrenches. by appropriate vehicle i mean one that has the same tranny setup obviously.the measuring is to keep you from having to pull one then find out that it is wrong.cheers, brian

out with the old.......
the funny thing is,the only attribute that not having good electrical service gives me is not being able to weld continuous for hours........:lol:so, i do not worry about burning it up. and lincoln has a 3 yr manufacturers warranty,so regardless ifyou won it or not,you should call them and get another one.cheers, brian

out with the old.......
okidoki.......so this will be the last post to this thread.i am going to start an actual fab/build thread now.because i went out today and got this...........its on ***************es....... she is so pretty......best i could get for 120v.....................(that i could afford, and it wasn't cheap) with her new cart... i will pop her cherry tomorrow.it will be nice to have her around .i switched out the downstairs breaker from a 15a to a 20a so hopefully it helps. my ol'lady is off 'til next week , so i can at least see what it can do.the goal is to get the crossmember made.tomorrow i think i will make a gift for the woman.don't know what yet. more pics cheers, brian

Headlight conversion complete!
wait, maybe that was something else.damn dude,i just don't get it....... i thought i remembered having a grounding issue with those when i first got them mounted.and then i taped the inside of the metal rings holding the actual headlamp bezel so that it could not ground anymore.i searched for a thread , but did not turn anything up.just when i posted them after being done.........damn.

Headlight conversion complete!

Front end removal
if you just put a 2x4 between the strut tops you can roll the front by lifting up on the tailshaft of the tranny. they obviously have to be attached somehow.but this affords the ability to roll over gravel and such.just sayin.cheers, brain
