  1. Someone has offerd to sell me a mpfi intake, turbo heads and u turbo up pipe:brow: This is perfect timing cos i wanna megasquirt my carbed wagon:banana: one of the heads has a crack in the exhaust port which leaks coolant, it is fixable? will it be reliable and is it worth it???
  2. The hissing came from the vaccume hoses that control the servos that operate the air vents. no big hassle, they just are a tight fit remove the steering wheel to make it easier, but mark its position. is it the wires from the sensors like temp, fuel & tach that you need help with or is it all the display lights, i.e. the open doors, headlights ect. I can remember most of the sensor wires, but not the display ones. but i can help u work them out. Do you have msn messenger,. my email is camelman99@hotmail.com, i mite be able to walk u through it this weekend, (no promises, i have 2 jobs)
  3. yep, cut the tube at the flange on the exhaust and welded a bolt head in there but my exhaust gaskets leak and my fuel mixture isn great either Ive decided to go 2" back from there and i spose i should prob put a cat on, maybe i can get one from the wreckers
  4. I suggest the accelerator pump, it squirts a dose of fuel as the accelerator os pushed down, it just adds extra fuel as you accelerate. to check this remove the air filter, and look down the primary carb barrel, you should see a squirt of fuel as the accelerator is pumped, but u will need a torch and look to the front right hand side, its below that pipe that points up at an angle
  5. if the tach is jumping i.e. engine rpm staying constant. i would suggest bad grounding in the electrical system check the earths where they connect to the chassis otherwise there could be interference in the electrical system
  6. Ok, i have welded it and put it on my car to test all i can say so far is its bloody noisy, and has a cool tone (except for a bit of backfire on deacceleration) Low end is improved (around 2k) but not sure about top end would there be much difference between 2" and 2 & 1/4" in noise and power I want good tone but not loud. i spose that will depend on the muffler
  7. Well how much is a megasquirt likely to cost (assuming i already have a efi motor) in $AU SPFI is not avaliable in Australia I can get a ea82T import from SSS automotive for $1200, but its kinda expencive
  8. I'm also looking for lower end power, mabe around the 3000rpm range.I like hti's sugestion (made plates that bolt to the head, the same shape as the head ports....and welded a tube from one water port to the other...with a vertical pipe on each intake/inlet part) But I have limited money and very few tools So you are megasquirting your carb'd wagon? Are you gonna turbo it? Can the MPFI intake be modded to the single port heads with an adapter? That way all i have to do is add the ecu and wire up the sensors BTW,. thanks for the compliment hti
  9. I finally got the Mig ready and thought about the perfect length of the Y pipe, If the volume of the first piece of pipe before the 2-1 collector equaled the volume of the cylinder that fed it???? so by this theory, 1.8l ea82, 2 cylinders per exhaust, 0.9ltr volume per exhaust pipe , at 40mm (1 & 3/4") pipe = 72cm of 40mm pipe gives 904cc of volume Would this be right?????? Ive seen somewhere before that 29" is the good length, this = 74cm
  10. I dont know much about this yet, i only started researching the other day I assume you have a MPFI Turbo engine?, I have a carb'd one My origional plan was to have 2 seperate spfi injector bodies, (off any car) (one over each head) but then i realised that the coolant track is part of the intake. I assumed that the MAP was was part of the throttle body, i will need to fab a throttle body adaper I live in a town called Bowraville, about an hour south of Coffs Harbour
  11. the electrical load is not what i was worried about, it was if i put a brighter globe in the oem lightholder, would it melt? Aren't those high brightness LED's expencive?
  12. I looked but didnt measure Im getting a horriable noise when under load, nearly all the time, its really embarrasing in the centre of town. im gonna pull one off and see if there is any wear on the shaft (or get a mechanic's opinion)
  13. I noticed that the thermostat is part of the intake, does this mean i cant make a custom intake? how well will megasquirt work if I drill the injectors into my carb intake just above the heads? (i will have to fab up a map sensor) can this be turbo'd? (down the track) Thanks for any thoughts, ideas, suggestions
  14. Sweet:slobber: Makes me wanna get me an RX But I agree that some better rims would make it just that touch better
  15. Ive recently done one in my wagon, just make sure you label both sets of dash wires and then you can pop them out of the plastic connector and replace them in the propper slot (as milesfox said)
  16. Has anyone noticed that the interoir light is less than bright I was thinking of putting in a higher wattage globe, but higher watts = more heat > chance of fire I also want to add a boot light as i cant see a damn thing back there Anyone got any suggestions
  17. Its hard to describe, and im not going outside again tonight, but I think there is way more than there should be. I will check tomorro
  18. I have a similar scenario Changed to 2 new front shafts and now i have this horriable noise which sounds very much like old CV's but they are new. They make noise when I am driving "almost" straight, curves or whatever, fast or slow. Getting realy pissed off with it
  19. Ive noticed that when i tap on the roof of my wagon, it sounds very metallic and very much like the sound a iron watertank makes when you tap the yop of it. is this normal?
  20. Im a bit slow on the uptake, but 1 ms ecu, 2 throttle body injectors (1 each above each head), 2 o2 sensors, could it be done with 1 air flow sensor? = more low end and more overall power??? Im gonna post on their site and get more info
  21. I thought about megasquirt But i still have to find all the parts, MAF, injectors, TPS, ect dont I? Is it expencive? (remember i live on the other side of the globe) how complicated is it? I was thinking, if i got a complete efi from another car, installed it and used the megasquirt as a upgrade. If I got 2 efi systems and had 2 throttle bodies (one over each head) 2 o2 sensors, 2 ecu's, ect ect. would this improve my ecconmy/power? Im just playing with ideas at the mooment
  22. I have my toolbelt, (pliers, wirecutters, screwdrivers, testlamps, multimeter, heaps of cable clips, connectors and scraps of wire) I also have the subaru toolkit, (wheel nut spanner, dual ended screwdriver, a few open enders and multi-grips) thats it I know im slack:drunk:
  23. I should have explained that better,.. the one in my car has a clear back, the old one that is sitting on my bedroom floor has a green tinted back.
  24. As I said, its easy, just as long as you label your wires as you go. and if you run into any problems, just make a post. Both I and alexb have done it, so I am sure that we will be able to help:brow:
  25. Mmmmmmm, UV there's an idea:brow: My illumination is a yellowish colour (when i had it apart, the clear plastic wasnt tinted like my other one, it was green) so i assume that changing the colouring wouldn't be that hard.
