  1. If only I had $7500 to spare i would drive there tomorro and buy it:slobber: Oooooooooh I Wants It, I Wants it BAD I just sit back and think,... out of most of you guys, im probably the closest one too it.
  2. Well i know its not 200K miles, but my 92 wagon has done 221156kms with the only major repair being a new clutch. I think this is a lot of ks for a 92 model. Ive done nearly 14000 ks in it since i bought it in feb this yr... and ive only had my P plates since jan.
  3. Not too sure about an XT, but on others i know the resistors are in the air duct itself beside the motor. There is a current thread on this titled... "blower quit working...couple questions" This thread shoud give you an idea of what is wrong:brow: Good Luck
  4. When I try to start my car while it is hot, i have to hold the key on for several seconds for it to start. It starts instantly when the engine is cold but now that the weather is heating up, its rather imbarrasing to have to wind the starter for several seconds before it will fire. There are no engine mods (except there is nothing on the end on the airfilter pipe, air is sucked from engine bay) Any help would be greatly appreciated:)
  5. Im in Aust so I imagine it would be quite expencive to get something like that here,.. But I would like to construct some of my own, but need ideas of size, length ect. Do you have any pics or dimensions/specs of the N/A headers???? They would be greatly appreciated,.. I have a welder and pipe bender on hand. 'Thanks in advance' to anyone who can help me out:drunk:
  6. I doubt the speakers have anything to do with the problems with the dash problem Are all Fuses ok? ive heard that a loose earth on the alternator can cause irratic gauge problems... Reading your 1st post again it says it does with the lights on,... If I were you I would check the connection where the amp was connected to the battery, check this connection is tight, a loose connection will fail under high loads and resistance will increase across the connection, causing a voltage drop.
  7. I suspect faulty switch or wires from switch to resistors In the wiring diagram for a 1987 Carbed Wagon (87 - latest cars are supposed to be the same) Black wire from (Turn signal flasher Unit to switch) (then from switch to resistors) Black, Blue/Black, Blue/Yellow, Blue/White wires. (then from resistors to motor) Blue, (& other wire from motor should be Green/White and go to the heater realy Hope you can follow that
  8. Im not 100% certain this is the case in subes, but i have seen it in another car, the resistors are loopy wires mounted inside the vent ducts, (resistors disapate heat and this heat needs to be carried away so it dosent cause a fire ect.) Im suspecting a faulty switch, or wires running between the switch and resistors There should be 4 wires (i think) running between the switch and resistors (Blue/yellow, Black, Blue/Black, Blue/White), then from the resistors to the motor should be 2, (Blue, Green/White) Note. these are the colours from the 1987 carbed car, but should be similar.
  9. I am somewhat confused:banghead: Premium petrol has a higher Octane rating dosent it...? Premium is supposed to increase performance isnt it...? Octane is added to fuel to decrease pre-detonation (knocking) which means it contains a substance which reduces its ability to ignite Please correct me if I am wrong on any of this as I have probably just got my wires crossed Thanks
  10. What year is your brat? I assume that the gauges ect. are still playing up after the radio is disconnected(are you sure everything is disconected, this includes the switched 12v+ that comes from the ignition switch [but this SHOULD blow a fuse if shorted]) Are there any loose wires that may be shorting on the metal frame. Although if something is shorted, it should realy pull the charge voltage down Best bit would be to get your friend to reverse everything he did and see what happens from there Goodluck
  11. it wouldnt need to be copied exactly, a black one would be fine, it only needs to imply that it is a sports wagon (there are many differnt designs for this decal, it depends on the year)
  12. these are the sportswagon and 4wd decals on my car but i have seen many variants of the sportswagon ones. If you can find one just post it back on this thread or something  I cant realy see the photo from the link u gave me very well but i assume you mean that the top of the decal is broken up by horozontal lines Thanks (BTW. i dont mean to be a P in the A, but what do I do with the old Decals on my car, how do I remove them????)
  13. In Australia, an Accel Superstock costs about $90, and a stock type (Bosch) is about $45, is the performance boost from an Accel coil worth the double price??? Now there is a range of Bosch coils ranging from stock replacements to transformer types, apps.bosch.com.au/products/saa/ignition_coils.pdf The GT40 sells for about $60 I was under the impression that all coils were transformers???? How do these coils compare up to the Accel coil and are they any better than the stock one????
  14. What about a gearbox or driveshaft adaptor that simply reverses its direction, im sure ive seen gearbox designed for tractor use which is designed for changing the direction of the PTO.
  15. A sports wagon is the name given to Australian L series wagons, there are also Touring wagons which have the raised rear roof. Does anybody know how to remove the old stickers? I have never used paypal so i will have to look into it Thanks
  16. I was wondering if you have any of the "sportswagon" stickers Also,.. how do i remove the old stickers without ruining the paint? What is the best way to pay from Aust? Credit card, money order?
  17. Is it turbo or naturally aspirated, carbed/spfi/mpfi ? I'm in the process of obtaining information to re-build the pipe from the heads to the Y join, hopefully to make it a tuned pipe to increase low end power. I think the prefered length for these pipes is around the 26inch mark The general notion for the exhaust in the n/a subes is from 2 up to 2.5 inch piping from the cat back with turbo or hi-flow mufflers Hope this helps:brow: (if i have made any mistakes, anyone please feel free to correct me)
  18. But the mounting brackets for them should be the same for whichever country shouldn't they? Thats assuming that non Aust soobs can have "bullbars, brushbars, metal thingys on the front"
  19. I will pop down to the wreckers today (P.S. My car is a wagon) Would the weight of 2 speakers realy affect the car that much, i have 2 6x9's in 6X9 boxes just sittin on the floor in my boot, only problem is they slide around as i go around corners
  20. I want to put a switch that will lock and unlock the rear tailgate of me wagon from a switch on the dash (saves me from having to switch off the ignition to remover the key to get something out the back) Has this been done before,... i know from a gregories service manual, some soobs from 86 had central locking. I was gonna put some 6x9 speakers in the rear door while i was at it also, anyone got any tips on this.
  21. A kind friend of mine 'gave' me an alloy bullbar off one of his (many) broken down ea81 series wagons. I looked under the front of my 92 wagon to find it dosent have the mounting plates like the ea81 one did. Has anybody ever but a bullbar off an ea81 series car on an ea82 car? What kind of adapter plate do I have to find? Please help cos I realy wanna put it on ASAP
  22. I've decided that there should be a thread dedicated to informing new users of abbreviations and terms used in the forum If a new user is unsure of a term, they can simlpy post their question here and have it anwsered, and it will be here for anybody to view. I shall start the thread with...... N.A = Naturaly Aspirated D/R = Dual Range Transmission Disty = Distributer WOT = Wide Open Throttle Questions..... What is long block and short block? What is a RICE? What is the thing againtst Hondas?
  23. Im not sure how effective it would be, but what if you used the heater blower from the vent system. it mightn't give much boost but might over-come the restrictions in the intake and the filter, (especially at WOT) and may even give lower end boost cos of the higher pressure at lower air speeds. it was just a passing thought cos a heater blower could be picked up at the wreckers for next to nothing and dosent drain heaps from the battery
  24. the fuel filter is located infront of the fuel tank, underneath the car on the righthand side, its on a mounting bracket beside the fuel pump, realy can't miss it, it connects pretty much directly to a pipe from the tank Go a new air filter while you're at it, they arent that expencive, (in my opioion i wouldn't bother with a K&N one, not worth it) p.s. Mine is hard to start when its hot, (i have to hold the key on for up to 4 seconds sometimes), but i haven't touched the timing
