A amp will prob need its own supply from the battery (depends on the power level = current draw) I put my 6x9's in boxes behind the drivers seat and it makes my bum vibrate with the bass Im gonna add a sub with an amp soon too but need much required $$$$ Gannon -

Runs well:banana: but it leakes water from the water pump:banghead: (but not from the weep hole) So it looks like im in for a new water pump seal and i may as well do the timing belts at the same time. I'll do a compression test too. Thanks poormansimpreza, I will attempt it in the next few weeks. Maybe convert one door per arvo too. I took some pics but when i got there with the camera i forgot what u asked for so i will try again soon Some pics here http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=6651 Gannon

Yippee it starts:banana: It was the wire that was damaged in the crash, it was the black/white wire from the coil. repaired it and all is good Now i have to fab up something to cool the engine in the absence of a radiator I am thinking i will use a 200ltr plastic drum plumbed to the cooing system to store water which will be pumped between the engine and drum Thanks for your help,. much appreciated Gannon

loyale gas cap- vented, non-vented?
ausubaru92 replied to bgd73's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
U said vaccum pressure,.. aren't they opposite to each other???? When you open the cap, does air rush out or does it suck air in? Mine blows air out when i open the cap Gannon -
Jxavierf, u said that there was no change in rpm when the ac is switched on?, that would tell me that the clutch isnt coming on. have somebody switch on the ac while you are watching the compressor, the front of the compressor with the 3 prongs stickin out should start to spin Quote. I noticed that my positive terminal to the battery has its own ground.....a wire coming off the red terminal connected to the body........is that suppose to be there. Where abouts is it connected to the body? there should be one thick cable going from the negative terminal to a lug beside the starter motor, and one thick cable going from the positive terminal to a connection on the starter motor and one thinner cable going from the positive terminal to a small plastic box (fusable links) mounted on the coolant resivior And yes Northwet, there is no way a shorted A/C clutch will draw enough power to drag down the system voltage that much UNLESS it is also pouring out smoke from extremely overheated wiring,.... Unless there is a bad connection somwhere in the circuit, which would cause a voltage drop. Gannon
-
Its got me stumped that the volts are only dropping at idle > which would make me think it was the alternator But for it to drop that low with the ac would make me think there is a short in the compressor clutch circuit (stab in the dark) It could also be bad grounding,... check all your negative straps between the motor, battery, chassis ect. for corrosion/loose connections Get your voltmeter and test 1. between the battery negative and chassis, 2. then between the battery negative and engine block 3. then between the chassis and engine all 3 should show 0 volts if a voltage is obtained then you have a weak ground Hope this helps Gannon

Air conditioning won't stay on (and it's 110º out)
ausubaru92 replied to Ryker's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Last summer i had pretty much the same problem. I would switch it on, it would cycle on, then off and stay off,... grrr very frustrating indeed. I dont know what caused it but i did notice that it got worse with hotter temperatures, which lead me to believe it was the pressure switch. I never got around to look into it but i will have to when it gets hotter. My Quick fix was to just switch it off then on again when the vent air temp started to warm up again:brow: Gannon -
If you are gonna go just RWD, i dont see the problem, other than your speedo will be out. Correct me if i am wrong, but i think i saw somewhere that they are 4.11 as opposed to either 3.7 or 3.9 on ur brumby (depending on the yr model) Gannon

Brumby's / Brats still in production in Japan
ausubaru92 replied to ausubaru92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
What was the Ag-Quip Brumbys, ive seen a few around with Ag-Quip stickers and was not sure what was with them I suppose the idea of new brumbys was a nice idea while it lasted:rolleyes: Gannon -
I bought a parts car that ran up the side of a cattle grid (89 MPFI Touring Wagon) so i can hopefully MPFI my wagon The front end is stuffed (mostly to the left side) so i pulled off the radiator and surrounding parts I connected the battery with ignition on, the oil light comes on, the fuel pump cycles on and off, the ecu flashes 7 short flashes, and the purge solenoid clicks on and off I tried to start it and it cranks, there is a fuel smell from exhaust but no fire, obviously spark prob Suggestions Please Gannon

ausubaru92 replied to ausubaru92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Would it be possiable for them to be only making them for the Jap market? This guy might have had the wrong end of the stick, he could have been confused with the Baja. But by the way, any of you Oz or NZ guys have an idea of what the Brumbys were worth brand new? Gannon -
