  1. I found these on ebay and they have leds on the sides as well $20Aus a pair
  2. I actually thought of the same thing not long ago but was thinking ej18 what is the ej20g? i know the ej20t is obvioustly the turbo'd one Gannon
  3. Hey Phizinza,.. U do know that the SPFI isnt avaliable in Australia The SPFI, MPFI and CARB ea82 motors have all the same dimensions. EA81turbos do exist Have you considered an ej22, there are quite a few aussies with big tyres that use these engines in their brumbys and pre 85 subes Gannon
  4. does the light in the ac switch turn off or is it always on. If it is always on, your problem is in the switch or wiring, try disconnecting the connector at the compressor If it turns off when you turn the switch off, your problem could be in the clutch on the compressor.
  5. As far as i know, the door switches switch the negative. ie. Positive power from the ignition switch goes straight to the door lights on the dash, and the negative of these lights are switched by the door switches. The door lights on the dash are each connected to a diode behind the dash (the diodes allow 5 individual lights to feed one) which then connect to one point to feed the interior light with power. Hope this helps Gannon
  6. Just to throw a spanner in the works, my Haynes manual says that the efi gearboxes have a 4th gear switch. Gannon
  7. Does that mean it could handle the hole in the fuel map and fuel cut ect. when running extra boost:brow: or even make a NA ecu handle boost? Gannon
  8. Only 6 bodies,... you should have bought a wagon:brow: Yeah my right hand vent is a bit like yours and i think my labels are wrong, especially the passenger side rotating wheel one. Joshu,.. Where are you from? Gannon
  9. Just to 'throw a cat among the pigeons' My 89 Tourer is MPFI but doesnt have a check engine light???? --------- Gannon
  10. Well done mate,.. good to see it back What are you gonna do with it? 1/4 miles? Track times? Or frightening ricey teenagers? Goodluck Gannon
  11. If by 'lean' you mean change your air/fuel mixture so that there is a higher air percentage than fuel, stoich is around 14.2:1 and it involves tweaking your mixture screw and/or playing with the jets. But be warned, running too lean will make your engine run hot and you could melt a piston or two Why do you wanna lean out your carb? Do you think it is running too rich? Gannon
  12. I was under the impression that the turbo cams closed the exhaust valves earlier because scavanging of the cylinders wasn't nessaccery when there is boost. Therefore with NA cams in a boosted motor,.. part of the boost is pushed straight through the cylinder before the exhaust valve closes. Have you ever heard of this and is it of concern Probably not a concern though as you run yours with NA cams Say,.....what kind of turbo would spin up earlier and give me power in the lower part of my rev range,.. say,... 1500-4000 rpm (probably not possiabe but im hopeful.) Cheers All Gannon
  13. Ok thanks, thats good info I was only planning low boost, say 5psi. What are your opinions on the cams,.. do you have turbo ones or do you use the spfi and suffer from 'blow-by' I assume there is nothing on a 89 MPFI ecu to tell it that it is under boost? Thanks guys Jack:rolleyes: (Gannon)
  14. This is kinda a hijack, but I was told that i couldn't put a turbo on a NA mpfi because the ECU wouldn't allow for the extra fuel needed under boost and I would end up cooking my motor. Doesn't the ECU meter fuel proportional to MAF intake and use the o2 sensor to tweak the mixture? Sooooo TurboSPFI,..... How does your ECU handle the boost and allow the extra fuel???? Because if u can do it,... maybe there is hope for my NA compression - low boost motor yet:brow: End of Hijack Gannon
  15. This is from a technical service bulletin stating that cracks between the valves are ok Gannon headcracks.pdf
  16. Is it a efi or carb? Is it oily or muddy? Is there any gunk on the intake hose, on the motor side or the outer side (the part between the filter and the mudguard? Gannon
  17. BUT WHERE WOULD YOU MOUNT YOUR "TOP MOUNT INTERCOOLER" Id think that in the engine compartment, there is much less protection (especially from a front end collision) than the origional fuel tank place (down low, between the rear wheels) and if sub zero liquid spilt onto a hot engine, the results could be catastrophic. But dont get me wrong, i love the idea:cool: Gannon
  18. What about adjustable coilovers? I was reading a Hot4's mag and it had an article on adjustable coilovers (also strut replacements) but it said it was more for the track scene as it creates a noiser ride cos of some rubber thingys are replaced with plastic thingys. Cant remember what they are Gannon
  19. There are a few aussies with ej22 transplantsVisit www.ausubaru.com and do a search of the posts or ask a question, im sure there is somebody who is willing to help Gannon
  20. Hydraulics,... now i was only thinking about it tonight when i saw the plymoth on Mythbusters with the adjustable suspensionI know some soobs had air suspension, but hydraulics.... It would be awesome, -Low for the streets -High for the Offroad Gannon
  21. I dont know much about the 3dr, but i think it should be an EA82 MPFI 1.8 litre Motor (does it have a turbo?)The engine ID number is found on the valve cover and the engine No. is stamped on a pad at the front of the engine Gannon
  22. I just did a service and used Shell helix 20w-50 (On 'Special' cheapy) It has quietened my lifters heaps:banana: Gannon
  23. As Ross said, Liqufied Petrolium Gas The same gas that is used in gas stoves, water heaters and room heaters Gannon
  24. Yeah the not turbo sides are the same. the turbo side head has the oil and coolant passages drilled out. On the mpfi NA head, the left and right heads are identical, the bosses for the coolant and oil are there so they only need to be drilled and tapped if needed ( i havent done this, ive only been told) Gannon
