Ok, so remind me again (ECU reflashing)

What about Steveman09 and his E-Manage piggyback. From what he said, he had great success with it. The car idled cold, hot whatever using the stock ecu, knock retard worked and he used the emanage to extend his fuel and ignition maps. Isnt this exactly what you are looking for? I plan on using Emanage after i install my TF035 -
My wangon project and a different turbo question
ausubaru92 replied to IASUBE's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
By placing a restrictor in the uppipe, sure gas velocity is gonna be fast moving through the restrictor, but the turbo relies on the bulk mass of air moving past its blades to make them spin. Smaller turbo or an EJ would be the way to go -
Help... 88 EA82T surges at 5K rpm
ausubaru92 replied to ausubaru92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Bottom end was professionally redone. Heads were reconditioned but valvtrain didnt need attention. As for a break-in, i didnt 'flog' it but i didnt baby it either. Did as much varied driving as possiable. I noticed thisarvo that it gave a bit of a surge just before 4k too. When i get to 5k, it seems to run out of power. Kinda like as if i eased up off the accelerator pedal then reapply it slighty, repeated. Not a violent surge like rev limiter. It is still showing 7psi of boost at this point also I want to get a fuel pressure gauge and test fuel pressures. -
Help... 88 EA82T surges at 5K rpm
ausubaru92 replied to ausubaru92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Could i have a hole in my fuel or ignition map? Cos thats what it feels like I accelerate in any gear and it has heaps of power, but as i pass 3k rpm, there is a single surge and then all is good until 5k, then it wont rev much past there. Any ideas? -

Ive already cleaned the maf with some contact cleaner. No difference. It seems odd that it will give a single surge at about 3k, and then several surges at 5k -

Timing is on 20 deg. I cant see how a vac leak will affect my motor while it is pushing boost. If i was running out of fuel, i would know about it wouldnt i, it would be pinging/knocking and such? I was thinking i might give my airflow meter a clean. Spray it with some pure alcohol or the like. Gannon -
I have recently rebuilt the my EA82T. But when i accelerate at WOT, my car surges at around 5k so much to the point that i cant rev past 5k, its almost like a fuel cut or rev limiter. I sometimes feel a single surge a bit above 3k too. I can rev past 5k if i dont WOT it. I also had a problem of running rough at idle and it would shudder at medium load under 3k rpm, so i decreased my plug gap to .6mm and it made an inprovement Im at a loss. I cant hear any pinging, i havent seen any codes. Surely my fuel pump should be able to supply enough fuel at 5k. New KGK BP6R11's, almost new leads. MSD blaster2 coil. The engine is completly stock, except for 2" exhaust after the stock downpipe. Any ideas are welcome

I pulled appart a speedo a while ago and noticed an adjustable spring connected to the needle shaft, this might allow adjustment of the speedo

ea82t intercooled L series touring wagon
ausubaru92 replied to dj fbi's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Umm your pictures didnt work Have you checked out ausubaru.com Its more Aussie based Love to see ya wagon, ive recently converted mine to turbo -
I thought all flapper style MAF's had 3 plugs for the ecu, and all Hotwire types had 4 plugs. I havent checked for whether its spark or fuel that is missing. An easy way of checkin for spark would be with a timing light?
-
I thought the neutral sw stops the engine from cranking altogether. I could try it i suppose. Just ground the wire
-
Yeah fuel pump primes, i had 2 codes but i fixed them, knock sensor and WGDS, all gone now. The only code the ecu flashes is 3, which means Australian Turbo Auto. I have the car running with a non turbo ECU and it works, but i wanna run the turbo ecu. I will look apon the wiring diagram to find out more about the transmission signal. Cheers

I have converted my 89 MPFI wagon to Turbo. But it will only run with the mpfi ecu, when i plug in the turbo ecu, it just wont start. The turbo one is an 88 and from an Auto XT. Ive looked at wiring diagrams and both are the same, from what i can tell. Anybody had similar problems? Cheers

How so? I know that they vary a bit, but fuel input must be proportional to air input otherwise it would run lean or rich and not run very well at all. If i am wrong, please explain how cos i love learning about these sorts a things.

Seeing that air fuel ratios are always constant, if you read the voltage of the Air flow meter, that would give you an indication of how much air and thus fuel you are using.

Front diff interchangeability: The true answer
ausubaru92 replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Um yeah you can get AWD dual range transmisions, nearly all outback manuals have them -
The ecu will inject more fuel. When the air is cooled by the intercooler, it becomes more dense and thus takes up less space. This causes a pressure drop in the intake system, this simply creates a gap for the turbo to add more air. So the air flow meter will see this increased air movement and add more fuel. Up to a point of course where the injectors are at 100% duty cycle Gannon

That looks like an ea81 with a supercharger
