  1. Glad you guys had fun and made it out OK. Nice subaru photos but that shot of the mountain, WOW! Im sure you guys are used to it but here in "prarie land" we dont see much of those big mountains BTW how did you fix that tire on the trail? Downloading the vidoe now, cant wait! Peace
  2. Since this happens to almost all air suspension at some point (not just on subarus) you would think someone has developed a niche market around it. Maybe there is a way to get them patched? resealed? white ooze in a can (fix-a-flat style LOL)? I wonder if getting them "rebuilt" is possible and maybe finacialy equal to or better then getting all new standard McPhearsons? Just a thought if you REALLY wanna keep the air bags. They are pretty neat
  3. Heck the 4EAT wasnt even that good. They produced more metal shavings then anticipated and were released with inproper filtration for the amount of metal shavings produced! There was an external filter made for a work around to help. Even still they go out before the 5speeds
  4. I too am putting dual range in my FWD scoob. Did you have a solid drive shaft made out of your 2 piece one then?
  5. Was way to tired lastnight to post so I saved it for today. THE LIFT IS IN! Also got the 4WD rear assembly in. The car is sitting on its own weight with all four 30"x10.5" tires! NOTHING touches sitting as it is. This is promiseing. I think I can make enough room to turn and stuff the tires a bit. My biggest concerns are the clearance of the tire and the front struts bottom spring seats. There is literaly 2mm of clearance. Now I've had tires this close before on my Legacy. They never rubbed. Hoping the same will be true here. Time to finish up the engine mods and get her running. Then throw in the 4WD DR transmission and its trail test time! I'll throw some pics up and post under the "Before and After" thread Peace
  6. rallyruss: if you suspect any of them to be troublesome do a quick OHMs resistance test on all 4. Thats how I found out one of mine was hosed on my old EJ22.
  7. That was alot of work; glad to hear its on the road again! Well done Pics?
  8. No problem I understand. I'll email him about it. Ya I bought this like 3 years ago and there was no core charge. Go ahead and delete this thread; I'll email him. Thx!
  9. Howdy! I live in the twincities. As do a few other members. I too have never done an axle but it doesnt sount very hard. I have all the tools to do it (36mm socket, 3/6 pin punch, etc et) I got an 88 GL wagon too! You live around Hudson then?
  10. Hey I know you have to fab up those steering extensions from old ones. Just want to know if you want my old one. No charge except for shipping is necessary. Peace
  11. I dont think the owners of those blown cars are free of any blame. WHen I had to use those "express" oil shops I for damn sure was watching them, asking questions, and making sure stuff is getting done properly. Even if they knew NOTHING about cars they should still take the initiative to be aware of whats going on. Just the fact that they are watching will make them feel the need to do it right. These people dont care about your car, you do; so get out and act like it That free cheap coffee in the waiting room isnt worth a blown engine.
  12. First weekend wont work for me either; it's my sons' B-day. Anyone else?
  13. True that! And it certanly does look trick. I personaly dont mind my long shifter. I can shift plenty fast with the current length and throw.
  14. That's just a "short shifter" not a short throw shifter
  15. Maybe it was just teh STP stuff I used but STP fuel injector cleaner did NOTHING for my dirty injectors. I ran 2 tanks of it over the suggested concentration level. Pulled the injectors later that week and they were still just coverd in black carbon. Just my experience with the stuff. Guess Prestone's formula is better?
  16. Way to go man! Glad to hear its up and running. Just time to tweak and test huh? How about a couple pics for us voyuers?
  17. After seeing the pics of your BRAT on 30"s I want to go so bad! Finished putting in the lift kit on my wagon about 20 minutes ago with some friends. Still a lot of work before she is highway worth I would still love to swing down to Iowa. I go several times a year anyhow and know my way around well enough to meet some people. October is looking like a more realistic time go on a trip. Would anyone else be in for a midwest get-together in October? Nothing formal or fancy (if thats possible in a Subaru? ) maybe just camping and offroading?
  18. I hear you ByTheSea. It would be alot of fun putting on solid axles and getting some BIG lift and LONG travel. A project I would like to do down the road is a solid frame, solid axel ORV with an Subaru wagon unibody on top WOuld it be a Subaru? No... Would it be ALOT of fun? HELL YA! I like the older Toyota truck platform. Looks like a good frame design. They are still relitivly small like the Subarus but you can do SO much with them. Ok enough day dreaming; I still have a 4 year project in my garage to finish
  19. Nice. THose LX 13s would look mean on a turbo subaru!
  20. That is SO cool! Why would someone trhow that out?! HAVE THEY NO CULTURE!? :temper:
  21. Skip is right on here. We are just kinda throwing info at you as we know how it applies to OUR subarus, not yours If you have a carbed EA82 you areally are not that far off in timing. If you have an EFI EA82 you are WAY off. Who knows untill we know what you are working on I dont think thats an EA81 car in your avatar picture so we arent THAT far off atleast!
  22. The BAJA is precisly why I NEVER read prototype specifications anymore. I read what the BAJA was supposed to be and then saw what it was released as. To say it was a let down would be an understatment. Maybe it was just the US model that got royaly screwed? I didnt care enough about it to even look into it seeing how I wiould never be able to import one even if it was better over seas. I would take an old BRAT over a new BAJA any day.
  23. Awsome! So do rear passangers get a little wet in the rain?
