Where is it? Rear washer hardware?
MorganM replied to bustle's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sounds like a previouse owner removed it; most likely due to it being broken. Junkyard should have what you need. -
.... it's still in park =P I see why they want those uber wide tires now however. Keeps them ontop of that hard pack!
-
Not trying to put words in Mudrat's mouth here but I recall him mentioning a lack of proper lubrication if you tip the rear diff upward. Something to consider. Maybe shoot him a PM on this.
-
Yeah does appear to be rough on the outer running gear. Looks kinda spiffy however. Bet it's tough to roll over!

Can I throw my EGR valve away?
MorganM replied to singletrack's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If your engine pings from just removing the EGR valve then you got other issues to contend with as well. -
Any pics of it doing anything besides sitting in park?

Can you remove Hill Holder 85 GL Wagon
MorganM replied to sregor13's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I just unhooked it from the throw out fork. It returns just fine still. It does feel a lot 'softer' when I push on the clutch pedal however. -
Offroad and Trail Work Day in MN
MorganM replied to MorganM's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Anyone? April 30th, SAT free? Fun in the sun offroading and trail work? -
thinking of moving to MSP area.. ideas?
MorganM replied to Ratty2Austin's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Oh forgot to mention http://www.mnsubaru.com/ if you wanna talk to more local Subaru duders. We have a couple people on the site that work for dealerships. One of the guys owns the Brooklyn park one; from what I gather or he's pretty high up the ladder. He also gives us a 20% club discount on parts. -

We would be glad to have you Austin. Plenty of places we could take that offroad modded Impreza. Just remember chix dig body damage! Housing in any way shape or form in the metro area is not cheap. Two years ago I paid $770/mo for a 2 bedroom 900 sq ft aparment and that was pretty damn cheap in a crappy neighborhood. Bought a "cheap" townhome for $150,000 @ 6%. So roomates or get out of the 7 county metro area for affordable housing Here's contact info for the twin city area Subaru dealerships. 235/75 R15 (28.9"x8.5") Liberator AT, 3" BYB lift, stock EA82 SPFI (I can still go 80mph and hit 85mph down hill ), stock clutch (no it doesnt slip and yes I can lite the tires up on dry pavement), stock nonadjustable suspension, front fenders cut in half, rear fenders trimmed just enough, front wheel wells beat to snot.
-
The Liberators never are first choice; but I'm happy. You will be too for what you paid. I'm quite supprised how durable they are after tearing around on iron ore and sharp jagged rocks for a weekend. No cuts or torn lugs at all! My only complaint with them is they fill up with mud really easy and don't clean out untill you spin the tires hard, hit gravel, or pavment.

excessive vibration after tranny swap
MorganM replied to northguy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Triple check bolts/nuts holding drive shaft to rear diff. Crawl up under there. Look at the crossmember for the tranny. There is an arrow on it; make sure its pointing forward Black gear oil is a bad sign Good luck -
Draw a picture or something... this makes no sense to me; cant picture it at all :/ Weight on the roof? I got my hi-lift jack up there on my Thule rack and with a lot of wind it makes for tired arms on the interstates Obviously it can hold a lot more weight but I wouldnt want it up there. I have a wagon to haul stuff in, roof is last resort for me. However areodynamics doesnt really seem to apply to what you are building here from what I can kind-of gather.

which tools for hard brake lines
MorganM replied to diluded000's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
3/16" ID double flared I use vice grips as mine are rusted BAD and a real PITA to take apart. For the new lines I put in my regular metric wrenches worked fine. Definatly play around on some scrap line for a while with the double flare tool. -
Timing light. Buy, burrow, or rent one. You can also do it by ear and get it pretty close Hmm I was jus thinkign more... are you talking about cam <-> crank timing or ignition timing ?

Offroad and Trail Work Day in MN
MorganM replied to MorganM's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center

Is your Subaru dealer competent?
MorganM replied to PictureChasers's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Parts: It's like pulling teeth to get any parts service. Plenty of attitutde, audible *SIGH*s, no 'good bye' just hung up on, etc etc. By the attitude I get you'd think looking in a book for a part was like cleaning up a raw sewage spill. And NO I do not give them any attitude back or to begin with. I call up and politly give them my VIN and ask nicely for what parts I need. Soon as they punch in my VIN their negative attitude kicks in... Service: I do all my own service and their's is not required. I'd never take one there anyway; costs too much. -
Damn that thing is custom! Definatly a nice looking hatch. Sits too low to the ground for me though

The Trail Lizards offroad club is hosting a day of trail work and riding on their private land they call "Mez's". Starting around 7:00 AM on April 30th (SAT) and working till...whenever Bring a shovel and some gloves. BBQ will be hot but bring your own food to cook on it methinks. I don't recall any working facilities last time I was out there so bring some water for yourself also. Bugs will be out so bugspray would be good too; I regretfully thought I wouldnt need it last year! I won't be posting exact location since it's private land. If you are interested in coming just shoot me a PM and I'll explain where it is. Generally speaking its near Little Falls MN. A lifted rig is NOT needed to come help and have fun! There will be plenty of vehicles there to get around on the trails with. I'll have an open seat and so will Archemitis. Great oportunity to support the sport of offroading and meet others in MN who like offroading too. Those who help out at Mez's are often extended invitations to come out and ride on their great trails! Not many legal places within a 2 hour drive of the cities to offroad anymore!
