85 Brat Power issues
Coils in the Brats are prone to failure. If your coil has been going bad, it might cause some issues similar to your situation. Just a guess. A more thorough description of the dying process might enlighten us more. Does it just die off? Or does it cut in and out? ?

Newb in Alaska
Welcome to the board. If you go into AAA, look for a black Brat. It is my old Brat and the owner had better be taking good care of it.

Not a Soob or a Toyota....
Honda makes a good, reliable product, but I prefer the older Suzukis or the newer Arctic Cats because of their true differential lock set ups. I've taken mine to places I had no business being.

I blame SubaruJunkie...

Wish I could be there to cook crab abd salmon for you guys again, but I'll be moose hunting instead. Enjoy.- Pics From NW Washington Offroad / Offroo'd Mid summer Meet
I'd like to find (like everyone else) a Gen 2 Brat - pretty clean - with the 2.2 swap already done - again, cleanly - with a 4" lift, 5 spd transmission conversion with Jerry's kit, a LSD, and of course for as cheap as possible. FAT CHANCE!- sourcing parts for a dual carb EA-81 *updated*
Try Dave Miller's Auto repair in Eagle River, AK. (907) 696-2096. I know he has a dual carb motor and a huge stash of old stuff.- Hello..from 1st time Brat owner..have a few questions
As for the problem of no gas, did you change the fuel filters? If it has been sitting for 5 years, there is probably a bunch of gunk/rust in the fuel and it could be clogging up the filters/ not allowing gas to flow to the carb. There are 2 filters, by the way - one under the hood, and one underneath near the gas tank.- windshield leak
northguy replied to rjohnson67's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXNo glass company I know of will guarantee that they will not break the shield in the process. It might be better to pull the trim, pump in some flow-grade sealant to seal the leak, then reinstall the trim using urethane. If you're insured, hit it with a rock and get the whole thing replaced by someone who will warrantee their work.- WCSS Caravan for the South (California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah)
Sorry. My fault. He's still in Eugene. He keeps ingnoring my email.- WCSS Caravan for the South (California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah)
Why do you guys hold this the opening day of moose season? (I know why.) Jibs, if you drive through Beaverton, stop and ask John Bloom for some money for me. I keep asking, but he's not forthcoming now for over 2 1/2 years.- 03 baja needs a little lift

northguy replied to johnny9k's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI'll probably be blasted for this but... It's a 97. It's 13 years old. It probably has close to 200 k on the clock. You could invest a bunch of time and money in fixing something that will probably spring a new leak somewhere else next week. Drop in a pint of stop leak for $8.00 and forget about it.- What to get on my License plate?
