  1. Maybe you just ran out of blinker fluid? Near the fuse block on the drivers side, i am just not sure which one it is exactly. Haynes is vague and i never had to replace one before. nipper
  2. And there is a bunch of wire and a few connectors between the two. Take it back and tell him he didnt fix it and your not paying for anymore work since there was nothing wrong with the first spedo. This is an easy thing to diagnose, so i dont know what the problem is. nipper
  3. If he had a crank issue to yes, but its cranking fine it seems, so there is a good ground between engine and battery. nipper
  4. Maybe not. How far did you drive it after the cruise dropped out. You also may have just shortened its life. nipper

  6. 98 spedos rarely go bad. 1999-2000-2001 are suspect. You have two VSS sesnors if its an automatic, one if its a manual. I would suspect the VSS sensors first before a spedo, they are easy enough for a tech to test. Was this a sooby tech?
  7. Yes i have a suggestion Always post year and mileage, otherwise can just sit here and throw gueses at you. Do you have a CEL on? Is this an auto or a manual? Always important information.
  8. On aluminum engines, its a MUST that they go to the machine shop. The head may be flat but the surface finish will not be what it was new, and that has to be restored. Both HG's need to be done. Also if its weeping you can wait months before you repair it (read summer). Just check the fluids regularly. nipper
  9. Hard Start is usually the TPS sensor. Clear all the codes and run the car again, then pull the codes. Alot of those are related by a common denominator of the car not starting when its supposed to. nipper
  10. CHECK YOUR FLUIDS IMMEDIATLY! If your turbo is sucking up the fluids in the car you can blow the engine. Get the car towed to the dealer. How many miles are on it? nipper

  16. AMEN to that. There was a time with points and liquid filled coils that they made a differnce, but not now with modern ignition systems. nipper
  17. Not here that i know of but i do have a bridge i can sell you. Soobys are simple cars they like the stock plugs, otherwise you can misfire codes on the ECU. They have been tried on the outback board and showed no real benefit except for the sale of code scanners to figure out the misfire codes. nipper
  18. Very cold weather does affect engines, machines, and animals too. Give the 5-30 a try. But make sure the oil is room temp and not sitting out in your garage when you fo it. nipper
  19. Can you start this as a new thread please, it would make it easier for us. How many miles on the car, also does it crank and not run, or just do nothing. nipper
  20. Just check the heaters at the seats for continuity. No reason to go nuts looking deeper just yet. Besides you have that lump of coal you can always use for heat nipper
  21. I forget, was this car in a crash? Drivers side seat heater commonly fails from us dragging our buts in and out of the seat repeatedly. Also the G force of an impact and the shifting of a body can do the same thing. nipper
  22. I wouldnt even bother getting the codes read right now. Look under the car make sure nothing is dangling anywwhere (nothing broke). Disconnect the battery for ten minutes, that should clear the codes. In some CEL failures the car will disable the cruise. If its still an issue get the codes read at a autozone. nipper
