  1. This is a very common problem. The timing is off someplace. A lot of people make this mistake. unfortunitly you need to dive to back in.
  2. A subaru clutch is notihing special. Any reputable shop can fix it. nipper
  3. You thermostat is stuck open. Also i bet youve noticed a drop in gas mileage. nipper
  4. From what i understand they just look at it. Others on other sites have had it done and were very dispointed in what they did. A few had the system scanned for codes. The check is originally because they werent sure what the systems would be like in 10 years. nipper
  5. Key word "properly" Thats why iasked what was done before. nipper
  6. Now i played with this. I forgot how it turned out. But the spedo is made up of two parts. There is the spedo head, and the board which it plugs into. The 140mph spedo has a different electrical connection then the 120. When you get the gauges, get the pigtail off the back of the cluster also. It is a two wire plug in the center of the back of the cluster. Just have him snip it. When you hook it up to your car, you use that pigtail and it should work. Wire it in temporarily by striping the wires, inserting them in your connector and taping them up. you wont hurt anything. Then i am 90% sure it will work. nipper
  7. Chevron has a product for cleaning gas gauges. i forget the name. And as it was said, go by mileage since the cars are pretty consistant, and the fuel light always goes on at the same level. Its independent of the gauge so you can trust it. nipper
  8. Technically its very simple. Its only four bolts on the steering wheel and the connector. Like was said, someone else will chime in on how to do it. You may not even have to removes the sterring wheel, but you do have disconnect the battery for 30-60 minutes to be safe. nipper
  9. so he does belly slides :-p (sorry getting our first snow now, couldnt resist) nipper
  10. and if your getting four it wont matter at all. nipper
  11. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=53539 nipper
  12. Radioshack. look up climate control lights for the number. Luckily subaru uses the same bulb for everything. i think you get 2 for 3.00 . You need to be careful, but you can thread in a new bulb. This may even be a sticky. nipper
  13. Not to mention they need to get balanced anyway. What will take you all day to do will take the tire shop 5 minutes. Some things just are not worth doing yourself. nipper
  14. What he said. Then stick somone back there and see if they can find if the noise is in the hatch, or from the hatch itself. Also check the two spring loaded door(hatch) jamb thingies to make sure they work. nipper
  15. there could be a very good reason why it had no engine, and that was it. Someone bought the engine becuase the tranny is shot. You can try the brake band adjustment, but that only takes care of one gear (2nd i think). If your slipping all over with fresh fluid you need a tranny. nipper
  16. i'm curious how did a thread from 2003 come back to life? nipper
  17. FWD reduces losses from the driveshaft, tail shaft of the transmission and mass from the rear axle. It reduces unsprung weight (the rear axle). You loose less torque to trying to spin the driveshaft and the rear axles. nipper
  18. I think they are the same height wise. nipper
  19. Do you live near a radio tower, or does it happen all the time. I know when i park in NYC and im near a taxi dispathcer, sometimes my fobs dont work untill im in the car. Sucks cause i have to set off the alarm. nipper
  20. Misfire is either ignition wires or the coil packs. If your engine is new you really dont need a valve adjustment. i never get mine adjusted (never seems to make a differnce). It is possible that there are hairline cracks in the coil towers. This is a common problem it seems and is usally fixed with replaced coil packs. nipper
  21. You can always follow the other rule, turn up the stereo. The only other thing that can be done is the oil drained, geares dyed, and check for how the gears contact. Now let me ask you this. Is the clicking a 1:1 ratio, 2:1 ratio or a 4:1 ratio in refernce to wheel speed. nipper
  22. That may be their way of avoiding the issue. Also i dont know how straong or weak consumer law is in Canada. nipper
