  1. no. Newer TCU's communicate with the ECU to make for softer shifting (playing with the timing etc). The 92 doesnt do that, or at least not the same way. It may also talk to the ABS (not sure). if you look at a pre 95 diagram to a post 95 diagram, in the post the TCU talks to to the MPFI controller. It may not function properly. Also i dont even think you can get it to plug in. I dont think youll hurt anything besides the tcu by trying. Also your tranny may not be beefy enough for the extra torque load. nipper
  2. master cylinder or a frozen brake system (extreemly rare). There was a test for the Pwr brakes, but since you replaced that its the master cylinder. nipper nipper
  3. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=14078&cat=500&ppuser=597 it s a cable all right. nipper
  4. yay thats it its the yellow cap towards the center of the car. The third from left to right, first is the washer tank, 2nd master cylinder, third is the clutch. nipper
  5. show off. i was thinking something from a wider angle. Remeber we have a total novice here nipper
  6. if not email me at nipper.dawg@gmail .com and i can send you a few scans. nipper
  7. can someone with a stick please post a pic of the location of the clutch master cylinder? nipper
  8. i had a 1998 Legacy, and was really disapointed with the ground clearance. I was constantly hitting the parking stops and curbs in parking lots. My 1997 OBW does not do that. nipper
  9. I usually wait for a reason. Wires made today can go 50 -100K miles without any problem. The first sign that its time is some ignition noise in the radio, or a slightly rough idle in the morning. If I'm replacing plugs, I replace wires. I dont go by soobies intervals for plugs as they seem to be too short. nipper
  10. The transmissions shift differntly when they are cold (all cars do this for emissions). It helps the enigne warm up faster. Im just concerned about the flare up in engine RPM. When was the last time the fluids were changed. nipper
  11. Thast a good start, service the tranny (especially if its been a while). Check first to see if its full. nipper
  12. replace the clutch. This is wear item on any car. Any car with a stick will need this changed eventually. Selling the car because of a worn clutch is as silly as selling it cause it needs tires. nipper
  13. the mileage wouldnt be unusual for bushings to go bad. Get under the car and physically inspect the bushings. It will be fairly obvious (if you can see them) if they are dried out and cracked. a local shop is just as good as anyone for this. If its bushings, then you will be wise to get an alignment too. I would avoid midas (hate muffler shops) but have some respect for goodyear and firestone stores when it comes to suspension work. nipper
  14. well look in and see if it has an interior If your going with the 2.2L the only thing to look out for is torque bind. Make sure all the tires match, and drive the car in a tight circle slowly. It should move smoothly and not jerk or grab. Check the color of the tranny fluid. Thats about it (and this goes for all subarus with AWD). nipper
  15. i know im going to speak of blasphamy here, but go back and read the directions. There is a setting to keep it on while the car is on. nipper
  16. Folks, remember gritle has very little knowledge about cars, so please explain what you are saying. Gritle at the milegae on your car, a worn clutch is not unreasonable. http://www.edmunds.com/ownership/techcenter/articles/43837/article.html will explain clutch free play. The cap should just unscrew. The car does not have to be warm. nipper
  17. thats ok, the USMB site is being frustrating lately. If you dont get aproved quickly let me know ill post it, as i am on that board. nipper
