  1. From what ive read you have to split the case. But then again there is the theory, its already broken, can't make it worse by trying. If i was you i would look for another engine. Would be easier in the long run. nipper
  2. ild like to find someplace here on Long Island in NY to try, but the 4wd permits are tightly controlled, and seem to be a huge secret on how to get one. nipper
  3. So then you have a really bright low beam and a lesser brightness high beam:confused: nipper
  4. http://www.epa.gov/otaq/consumer/warr95fs.txt http://www.aa1car.com/library/tr1196.htm i thought someplace they made it 100K, my mistake. Must have been reading propsed legislation someplace. nipper
  5. Not to mention in the winter the oil may never heat up, and thats a bad thing. nipper
  6. Auto windsheilds are hard to make, and you can even get ripples in a windsheild in a brand new car. Unfortunilty that cant be detected in facotry lighting. http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m3165/is_n12_v26/ai_9281678 Just an example on how that leg of the industry works http://tennessean.com/learn-nashville/archives/05/03/52169219.shtml?Element_ID=52169219 Maybe only ford makes them? wouldnt that be a hooot. nipper
  7. what code are you getting now. Do you hear nay noises out of the front of the engine, like a tensioner making noise or more piston slap then usual? Any accessory drive noises? Where did you get the knock sensor from? nipper
  8. The light coming on at startup is the bulb check. As long as it doesnt flash and goes out in a few seconds your fine. All idiot lights do this to some degree to tell you that they are working. nipper
  9. Well time to go back to square one and inspect the wiring harnesses and connnections. nipper
  10. Can they actually be removed? i know when they go off they tear the seat. He can just leave them alone and tabe up the connections to them and be ok. nipper
  11. Because it takes the TCU/ECU that long to learn your driving habits. The computers learn how you drive and adjust acordingly. Also subarus do shift hard, and if you really listen you can sometimes feel the TC lock up in other gears too. nipper
  12. I have always used a reptuyable glass place in the yellow pages. I am 99% sure windsheilds only come from one place for any given car. I have never had a problem with a replacment windsheild. I am guessing around 200.00 or less installed. Dealer would send you to a body shop, who has a drive up service do it. If not they will call the driveup service themselves. nipper
  13. Alas i think it is time to steer him in another direction http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/subaruvanagon/?yguid=281753844 http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/subaruVanagon2/?yguid=281753844 One is for the same conversion asyou, the other is where they have thier files. Since this is a conversion of german and japanese technology, we might not be abale to debug it. These people may have seen it before. nipper
  14. for 800-1000 dollars you can get the AWD unit rebuilt at the dealer. This includes a new housing. There is no need for a tranny rebuild if its running fine. Also if you do need a tranny in the future, the awd compnents can be swapped into the replacement. I would just rebuild the awd. nipper
  15. Has anyone checked to make sure the electric cooling fans are operating and operating properly? nipper
  16. Ive been wating for someone to be the lab rat for these things, way cool. nipper
  17. thats why i said it was the same as ... No one makes a manual for a subaru for your year. Also do a search here. Subarus dont change much, and when they do they are like giant legos. nipper
  18. In 2002 that may have been the mandate. I think now its 100,000 on the cat. Its federal. nipper
