  1. Um..I have a 97 Imp OBS with a 5spd and it has the fwd fuse holder under the hood. If you cant go into fwd mode with a manual then why is it there?
  2. Any advice out there on good replacement engine and manual trans mounts? Im not looking to spend a whole lot. I have a few mods, nothing major. But I definitely need new mounts. At 264,000 it feels a bit sloppy. Maybe just new stock mounts would be fine?
  3. Hey Im having a conundrum. I want to add a turbo kit to MY97 Imp OBS 2.2. Found a killer deal Anyways, I did some research but it looks like the front cat is deleted. Is this accurate? I just bought a new Magnaflow front cat. Im also getting some EL headers. Will all of this work together, without having to delete the cat? Thanks.

  5. Hello everyone. I looking at adding a turbo kit to my 97 2.2 Imp.The kit comes with a downpipe. My question is do I need to change the exhaust manifold? I was about to get some EL headers, but need to make sure first. Thanks for any help on this asap.
  6. Im preparing to change front and rear diff fluid and the manual trans fluid. My question is where do you fill the trans at? Is it the same as the the front diff dipstick, or is it a different location? Its a 97 Impreza OBS, 2.2. Thanks
  7. Well I have a 97 IMP OBS and love it!! Its super reliable. 2.2 manual with 260,000. It runs great, has 185psi in all cylinders. The best year of Imprezas as far as Ive heard.
  8. Anyone know if its possible to change dual port phase 1 heads to the roller rocker type valve train?
  9. A pigtail? You mean the coil plug from the Neon wiring? Then cut off my stock plug and wire in the neon plug?
  10. Hey have you tried the coil on plug ignition mod? I read some not so great things about them. Iam interested in the MSD 8239 coil that DOHCEJ22E posted about. I looked into it and MSD said it will not fit. I tried to get some info from MSD about how to make it work, but was like pulling teeth with them. Do you know if he did some kind of mod to make it work?
  11. I removed my intake silencer and added a flexable hose attached to the stock air box, with a K&N filter, and ran the hose down to one of the open vent in the front bumper. Basically its a forced induction, cold air intake. I did notice an improved acceleration from 1st to 5th and on the freeway at 70 plus, around 3000 rpm. It really jumps at that rpm. Its a 97 ej22 in an Impreza outback sport with 259,000. The hose, a flexable universal cold air with aluminum couplers on both ends, I got from Amazon and it only cost me $20 plus about an hour to install. Def worth it, plus it sounds a lot better.
  12. Hello, I have a question on porting. I have a 97 imp obs ej22 and want to rebuild the engine. As for the heads I want to port them and add some delta cams. I have the option of using the 97 heads, or go with some ej22 heads from a 90 laegacy. This thread seems to have some knowlegable members. Any info/opinions would be appreciated.
  13. Sooo, I have a question on the ej22. I have a 97 Impreza obs ej22. This subie has a phase 2(interference) engine correct? Im looking at a used 90 ej22. This is a phase 1 engine(non interference). If I put the phase1 heads on the phase 2 block is it still an interference engine?
  14. Hey all, looking at a used ej22 for a project performance build, came out of a 90 legacy wagon and has 194,000. No cracked heads, and its tore down. Asking price is 200.00. Is this a good year to re-build for power. Would be going into my 97 Impreza obs.
