  1. Really? Why did both of my '86s have ECS lights... and they're SPFI
  2. alright im sure most of you know my car by now, if you dont, it's an '86 SPFI, non-turbo. oh yeah BTW i tried searching... nothing seemed to fit my specific "problem" I've been having an idle problem... Go out in the morning to start the car, idles... wherever it wants. anywhere from 300rpm to 3000rpm. drive car some, idle fluctuates from 300rpm to 1000rpm, never goes high while driving, having the AC on does affect it at times, makes it drop. the car NEVER stalls, even sitting at 300rpm for 10 minutes wont kill it stop car, put 'er in Park, idle goes to 1500rpm instantly, cold or warm oh yeah, and it has the shakes really bad... i'm used to that though what are some common causes of this problem... i'll start replacing stuff now, money's finally coming in EDIT: ALSO... the secondary fan is ALWAYS on.... even with the car shut off and the key in the "ON" position...
  3. That would make for one SWEET wagon! I think it looks awesome the way you photoshopped it!
  4. I thought "air conditioning" meant having a cracked windshield, myself.

  6. I cant tell you for sure on your starting problem, but I'd put another fusible link in that empty spot, who knows, it might help. Either way, always good to have a spare
  7. The "Potland" PD? Out here, if you have a car with a loud BOV or any sort of loud exhaust, you get crap. Same goes for the "air conditioning"... thats a $200 ticket immediately. I get pulled over AT LEAST once a week, for my car being too loud... I cant afford to repair the rusty exhaust One of the cops was really cool though, "hey my grandma has one of these! fix your exhaust, alright buddy?" Hard to come by nice police officers in these parts...
  8. I'm having thoughts... as I might be getting an EA82 (GL-10) wagon soon. I want to make a rig for camping/fishing, granted I could get a cheap van or truck, but I want to stay strictly Subaru! And the Vanagon, plus the conversion, too expensive... I want to figure out some way where I can fit a small sink, and a small stove in the rear cargo area, while managing a side to sleep, just in case I stayed late fishing and didnt want to drive. I'd remove the back seats, and possibly rig up a way to make everything perfectly flat and secure all the way from the back to right behind the front seats. Ideas? (Also, pondering a back slide-out and a tent type setup for when the rear hatch is opened, for more room...)
  9. There you go, quite worth the X-Box IMO. And only the X-Box, I'd keep the PS2
  10. The car in question is an EA81 ('82) I believe. I'd try talking them down, maybe only give them the X-Box if it doesnt have an engine Hope it works out for you!
  11. Doesnt look like mine's wired for it... So, how do I get them to work? I only have the lights and the switch. What kind of wiring and what kind of relay do i need? also, the donor car is gone. and i didnt take the wiring
  12. Four months of heavy/maximum use and no problems, and the fade works fine so does the balance... but believing you guys over my idiocy, I did this: i just drove to santa monica (close to an hour round trip) blasting music... came home, pulled out the radio... it IS hot as hell which i know for a fact isnt the deck... im running it right now on a PC power supply and four small computer speakers... not hot at all after 30 minutes of play. I bought 100 feet of 14 gauge wire. (i am gonna install component speakers also while doing the wiring, which will be tomorrow) So yea, even though it's possible, they're right, it'll mess with the deck. :-\
  13. I've hooked up a Pioneer deck with stock wiring.. Mine's an '86 though. Stock speakers. I dont need loud music anyway. I dont think new speakers would like the common ground system, but the deck doesnt seem to care. Just my .02
  14. I have a blank spot on the left side for the rocker switch, but I'm still trying to figure out wiring (did 86's come pre-wired for fogs? My old '86 was)
  15. Here in CA, $800 would be a more than fair price for that Legacy.
  16. You race them, take their pink slip/car, and sell it, for more parts for your car! Or even another Soob or two!
  17. Would there be a way to stick some really small cold cathode lights back behind the dash? I have like six small blacklight CC's, but I dont know if there would be room for them... I've never pulled a Subaru cluster.
  18. +4million on the fusible link thank goodness for the local J/Y and 15 cent fusible links (i dont pocket stuff)
  19. I learned a lot about meters with the TPS ordeal Mine's fine, I just didnt know what I was doing. Thanks for the tip on broken probes! The TPS is (i'm assuming) repaired... Another not-so-quick removal of the TPS, sprayed the bejesus out of it with MAF cleaner, (it's the best i have) bought me a set of feeler gauges, and went to town. No CEL anymore, no flat spots, no ODD idle, but now just runs like absolute crap and idles really low. my car's possessed i'm just going to live with the fact that I'm stuck with 3AT transmissions and crappy running NA EA82's with low mileage. three subarus, same thing... still, gotta love 'em
  20. I want to install XT6 fogs on my 3-door. What all do I need from the XT6 to make it work? Any wires in particular, maybe a switch? What's a good way to run them?
  21. its looking great! i have to fix rust myself... :-\
