It could be an a$$load of stuff, as Subarus are notorious for the check engine light. my mom's RS's light came on when the "Tiger in the tank" tail thing blocked the gas tank cap alittle. it could be anything. I just don't know what this anything could be. maybe the Maf or the emission controls? sorry I couldn't help more, but my knowledge is generally limited to EA81's and brittish sportcars.

I don't know, I know it is easey to put one in a Gen2. I think they made center lamps for a gen1, can anybody confirm this? if not you may be able to get one from a gen2, replace the light cover with the corresponding area from your grill. heres a link about wiring you will need link

generation1 brats had round headlights

They stopped round headlights when they went from Gen1 to Gen2 (82 and up are square) The hatchback Gen1 ones are round too. I'm not sure about the tranny, I think they started putting them in 1981 when they switched to the EA81 engine. your welcome.

It would be cool though, take out the passenger halo roof and have somebody stand on the seat and stick out the roof with an ak-47, mount a M-60 in the bed and have two guys in the jumpseats for hit and run assaults. Welcome the club, when i got my brat it had a valve cover leak so bad most of the under hood area had a thick coat of oil/dirt on it. I just replaced the gasget and scraped off the the layer of crud.

I have heard that the gap could be .45 - .50

I am almost ready to repaint my brat, so I will email him later to buy them.
