I was wondering if i can swap a 1997 legacy 5sp into my 1990 legacy 5sp? I have a friend with a totalled 97 legacy and I can have the tranny for $100. So will they swap? I'm really sick of driving around with no 2nd gear. Thanks

I'm not sure about the installation fee because they might have to do some fabricating on your bumper. I had a good friend do it so I got it done for cheap. 50 bucks for the install and 50 bucks for the muffler. Just try and get the most free flow open muffler that you can. No baffles.

Well I don't have second gear at the moment:-\ . So it is hard to tell, but I can feel a little difference. Maybe 5-8hp. Next I'm gonna put on my lightweight underdrive pulley. That should help some more.

I finally got around to getting a muffler for my wagon. Last night while we were installing it I started up my suby with no muffler and holly crap they're loud!!! No wonder they have such a restrictive muffler to quiet it. Anyway I am sooo happy with the sound and the looks. Its a Naxos muffler. Looks good!! :-D What do you guys think? I'll have to post a video clip sometime.

A subaru outback was in there. The one that went straight gaining speed into the cars towards the bottom of the hill. Some people can't drive.:-\

Another subaru enthusiast dreaming! It would be quit the sweet and unique rig. But a lot of what you want is somewhat improbable. No subaru ever came with solid axles so a frame swap would be best, or you could swap everything else under your car. It sounds really cool, but you better be a VERY WEALTHY person to build let alone maintain this rig. So keep dreaming!

Ya mine doesn't have ABS. It does have holes for the rear headrests but there aren't any headrests. I did a rally session last night with my legacy and had my first rally break. I blew out 2nd gear. Now I get to shift from 1st to 3rd. But at least it has enough power to do it. A new tranny will cost me 650 installed. Not too bad. I'll have her fixed in 2 weeks. And ready to rally again.

So I scored a 1990 legacy wagon LS for only $1000. I am amazed at how well these things handle and rally. Especially with nice studded winter tires on it. Also what does the LS model have different from the L model? heres the stats: 1990 Legacy Wagon LS AWD 2.2L 5sp sunroof cruise control rear swaybar stock 233K miles on the engine still runnung strong And I allready ordered a K&N air filter, a light weight underdrive pulley(http://stores.channeladvisor.com/hiprospeed-performance-auto-parts-accessories/Items/LUP-107?sck=45373373) and I got a sweet muffler I'm gonna be putting on it soon. Way before MP3 players but probably around the time that CD players were coming out in Japan. And my roomates 1991 legacy wagon and mine. What do you guys/gals think?
