  1. Measure your car. That should tell you how wide it is.
  2. Thats alot of cash for a rear veiw mirror!! And I don't need a compass on my mirror to tell me whith direction I'm going, and if headlight are bugging me, I can turn the mirror down. I like things simple.
  3. Most 16.5 rims are 8 lug. The look alot like the "rally" style rims on my buddy's old K-5 Blazer
  4. They look alot like chevy "rally" rims off a half ton 4x4
  5. And one of these:banana: Whenever I hear ticking, I just turn up the stereo. That seems to make it better.
  6. On my old Brat, way back when, I took as much rust off with a wire wheel, and shot them with primer first. I did put about 4 or 5 coats of white paint on them, but the didnt flake or peel in the 2 years I had the thing.
  7. Can't go back to work until its better, another 3 weeks:rolleyes: , but I'm getting paid for it, so I might as well take advantage of the time off and get the car back together. The old dd is gone now. Anyway, I would love to find some spoke wheels. I always liked that look. If the paints peeling, you might want to think about using primer first next time.
  8. For the first time in 2 years, I have absolutly nothing in my wagon!! Except for the alt thats in the back, instead of under the hood. I actually emptied it the other day. It did make for good dry storage for a couple of months, though.
  9. If its 4wd, and the axle breaks, pull it off the tranny output, and leave the outer stub in the knucke, put in 4wd and your good to go in rwd.
  10. T-belts are easy!! Heck, I'm pulling the motor to do a clutch right now, and I have a broken hand.(Its going slow, but I have some help also) And what does thinkmi mean? Is that spanish or something?
  11. Wax on the headlights is equally important!
  12. You live in WI. You don't need ac!! I wish I had ac sometimes down here in the south!! It was 95+ most of the summer and humid. Come to think of it, I've never owned a vehicle with working ac.
  13. Don't you know that speeding leads to tickets. And tickets get expensive. I've had three in a years time. Cost=$900. Thats more than what I paid for my subaru, and twice what I paid for the old honda!
  14. I just drive mine. Ok, I haven't had it on the road in months, but when it was on the road, I just "drove" it. Its more of a workhorse than anything. I don't give a flying fart about the body on it as its not a priority to knock the dents out. The frame and running gear is solid. The motor runs great. I don't flat out beat the snot out of it, but I definatly don't bady it. Once I get the clutch in it, it will be back on the road doing dd duty. My honda couldnt do half of what this car can. The only reason I got the Honda was because I got a really good deal on it. I was going to clean it up and sell it, but I got in a wreck with it. Man, you would problebly s--t if you seen the things I have done with that old Loyale.
  15. I'll have to have the flywheel resurfaced. This thing was slipping BAD when I parked it, very unroadworthy. I'll problebly attack this thing next week if I can borrow a hoist for a couple of days, or get a couple of buddy's over for lifting duties. It might be a trick for me to do much lifting with the broken hand I have right now, and I can't go back to work until this damn cast is off, I'll have the time to work on the car.
  16. Did you go with their clutch? I'm leaning toward Advance anyway. I alway seem to have a good run with what they sell, with the exeption of axles, and most of them in there actually know what an older roo is. Most other places around here, the guys behind the counter only know legacys imprezas and "that real quick turbocharged car they make" REMAN AXLES SUCK!!
  17. The psi rating on the side wall of the tire is the psi of a fully loaded tire.
  18. If you reallty want to get super technical about it, the proper psi varies from one cae to another depending on tire brand, size and how the car is loaded. Here is one way to find out what pressure to run in your tires. Put air in the tires(this is a given) Take a piece of chalk and draw a line across the tread surface of all 4 tires. Hopefully you are already a your favorite streach of pavement that you can drive in a straight line for a block or so. Jump in the car and drive about the said distance of about a block or so. Now hop out of the car, and look at the line drawn across the tread. See where it wore down. If the chalk line wore down on just the edges, tire is underinflated. Wore down chalk line in the center, overinflated. Add air, or let out some air, redraw chalk lines, and keep doing this until the line is weaing evenly across the tread. When its wearing evenly across the tread, that is your correct tire pressure. Before anyone asks, no I haven't done this in my subie yet. I did do this in my old 4x4 toyota pickup when i stll had it about 5 years ago, though, and it turned out all I needed was 23 psi in the rears unloaded, and 27psi or so. I think I might do this on my wagon in the next couple of months to see what I come up with. Do yourself a favor, The Loyale, and go back to school!!!
  19. OK, back to the original topic of this post. Cooling system. Make sure everything is all good. Good hoses, good coolant, well, I'm sure you get the idea. Frozen water in the motor is really bad!
  20. Whats a hole grill? Some folks like to go a little overboard on the whole decorating thing.
  21. Nice thing about new cars. Warrenty's. And, yeah, toyota parts arn't cheap, but subaru parts, at least around here, sure ain't cheap either!
  22. I might just put one on my cb ant. Its mounted in the center of the roof and is about 6 ft. tall. I'd have to find one big candycane. If I could find a flouresnt(I think I spelled that right) buld to go up inside of it, the RF would light it up when I key up the mic!
