  1. I couldnt imagine tex saying he is done with mud... i mean, what else is there up in WA? -Brian
  2. Probably just dealer options and a nice "sport" decal on the side. Hey, when you were at the yard did you notice any XT6s?? -Brian
  3. I much rather preffer mud over rocks ANYDAY! Way more fun, and alot less harsh on the car. Plus, the mud covering the car gives it class... dust never spoke much for off-roading. Here in Cali i find alot of the guys who lift their rigs stay as far away from mud as possible. Maybe cause they're sissy-la-la-girls who dont like to get dirty... maybe cause there is no real mud here in california? Who knows... i just point and laugh. These are the same girls who play on rocks all day and build 52" tire running steel cages to crawl .05mph over half-vertical granite slabs all day (snore... boring). Give me mud flinging, tire squeelin 40+mph through creeks and down tree's anyday!! -Brian
  4. they probably dont want to drive into Longview... and hell, can you blame them I will renew my subscription and i am planning on sending in some photos of the RX when its ready to be shown off. -Brian
  5. Thats the plan. I need to finalize the monday off with my boss. I was thinking of wheeling monday night into tuesday. I guess it all depends on when the rib cookoff ends, but most my camp gear is already up in Reno and if there is no rig failure everything should work out right. Dont know if I'd be comming up sunday night or monday morning.... but i will definatly be there intime for RIBS!! -Brian
  6. Ram Engines makes some pistons I believe. No idea what the CR would be. -Brian
  7. 90 is OBD1 and 95 is OBD2 i believe. Goto http://bbs.legacycentral.org and ask there... those guys are legacy genious's! -Brian
  8. Now you know why I sold the car to you.... HAHAHA SUCKER :-p -Brian
  9. Craig I believe this was the last issue in the 1st subscription year... you will most likely get the next issue as your 1st month's. This is the last issue in my subscription. ive got the envelope to renew and I think i will end up doing it. Just cant pass up a magazine dedicated 100% to subaru. -Brian
  10. Im glad to see so many events going on up there. Seems like almost one monthly... do they plan to continue this? My RX is in no shape to be rally'n (no ground clearance as of yet) but I think i will start to transform it into a rally machine or something competative here in the future. Would need some time before I can make one of these events. -Brian
  11. I agree with skip. Get ahold of Kerry and have your carb rebuilt. Most likely there is some trouble with it after your rebuild. No offence, but how many carburators have you rebuilt? They arent that simple, and if one tiny piece is out of alignment or not installed correctly you will have a load of problems. As for your ignition timing... you need to make sure your using a timing gun and have it set at factory specs. I believe your timing for the 78 should be around 8 to 10 degree's BTDC. Check the FSM for all the details. And sorry this forum doesnt see as much traffic as the general forum. Feel free to post in there about your car... the EA81 and 71 are near identical, and I believe that hitachi is alot like the hitachi's on the EA81's. -Brian
  12. Damn jeremy... call in sick or something. Rib cookoff it is!! I wanna get in on that BBQ action! Then how about an overnight wheelin trip? I know theres gotta be a ton of trails around Jibs place. -Brian
  13. The boost light will only come on when your manifold reaches a positive pressure. IF the light isnt comming on, then the turbo isnt boosting enough to create possitive pressure. That, or the light is funky. Install a boost gauge and forget the light exists. -Brian
  14. I dont think im renewing my subscription. I was also stoked to see the full page ad with McBrat's brat... advertising the WCSS on page 28... which was a typo and should have been page 18. Funny how a weekend even FULL of subaru enthusiasts and hundreds upon hundreds of different subarus only gets 1 page with some pretty lame coverage... but a drift even with only 1 RWD WRX gets like 6 pages. Sorry, just isnt my type of magazine i guess. -Brian
  15. Yeah... uhm.... this thread is like... months old. I never got this Car. The owners sold it before I could get back with cash. So nothing ever came of it. -Brian
  16. Yeah, when the alt goes dead all your warning lights will illuminate. -Brian
  17. Im planning on being up there Labor Day monday and the following Tuesday. Maybe an overnight wheeling trip or something. I can come up sunday night after work and lend a hand. -Brian
  18. You shouldnt have a problem doing it in Dirt or gravel. Believe me... even the crappy AT's can do it. -Brian
  19. Oh... well, the NV crew will get to see me before the bay area IM planning on comming up after Labor Day to do some wheeling. This thread is for a bay area meet... thinking about Fairfield or Napa Valley. There's a really nice lake off of hwy 101 that would be perfect. -Brian
  20. first of all DO NOT ENGAGE 4WD ON DRY PAVEMENT!!! Do it in the dirt, mud, ice or snow. You want to make sure each wheel has at least 10% slip. If you do not, you will bind the transmission and may cause some problems later down the road. In order to test it, find some dirt. Peel out in FWD. Then hit the button. Peel out in 4WD. You should tell a difference. -Brian
  21. Cool. Do you spend alot of time in the bay area? I just got moved into my new place, time will start opening up soon. In a couple weeks I will be getting Sun-Mon off.... so a Sunday meet sounds like its in the works. -Brian
  22. You'll have no fun with 2WD and an Automatic. If you want to get into sube's, find a 5spd Dual Range 4WD I'd say $1500-$2000 as well. -Brian
  23. Score! Cant beat that. -Brian
  24. Ive only done brakes on old subies, so I dont know if RWD american cars are any easier. Since RWD cars do not have front CV's, i could see how it would be a little easier to replace things like pads and rotors. But doing any work on a subie is simple... a qualified mechanic shouldnt be complaining about it. -Brian
