Well this sucks 2005 rolling to an end and I have yet to do any wheeling at all. As a matter of fact, this is the only time I have taken any pictures of my wagon all year. Wish I could say I was trailering it to the trails for some hardcore extreme off-roading, but i cant -Brian

How to get the front Hubs off?
TheSubaruJunkie replied to Kostamojen's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Glad that worked for you. For people who might not have a brake piston tool... here's a DIY version: Steve I might need to borrow the tool you made. I think im going to have to do brakes on my RX tomorrow. -Brian -
Some JDM AWIC goodness
TheSubaruJunkie replied to subaru_styles's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Dont use the AT side of your new radiator. I thought of doing that when i had my AWIC and I was explained that the radiator temps will be much higher than your AWIC's radiator. Chances are the engine coolant in the main radiator, will only heat up the AWIC's radiator if attatched to eachother. I'd suggest using an ATV radiator. From a 4 wheeler or a motorcycle. They are all over ebay and you should be able to find one to replace your AC stuff. The other problem is pumps. What are you going to do to move all that water? I was thinking of using two smaller pumps rather than 1 large one. It will be cool to see when you get it done. -Brian -
Custom Gauge Question
TheSubaruJunkie replied to fredrogers's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ive ran my oil pressure gauges through the plug in the firewall as well. Just cut a slit through the plug and it acts as a good gromet. The main problem I had was the type of tubing that came with the kit. It didnt take long to get fragile and break, and that makes for a nasty mess if it happens in the cab somewhere. -Brian -
Turbo Boosting Options
TheSubaruJunkie replied to mid-knight's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah, i wouldnt be messing with boost until you have it intercooled. And that home made controller didnt work for me. I think im just going to save for a real boost controller, but wait until my downpipe and new turbo go in. The Home made controller is a better idea than the hose with a hole in it. -Brian -
Nope, i dont see a thing. -Brian

I'm a newbie with an 87 RX
TheSubaruJunkie replied to rallyrx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I might be selling them soon after I do the 5lug swap. The 13" spoked rims are from some Subaru i found at the junkyard. ive never seen a set before in person, but I did know they existed. -Brian -

TheSubaruJunkie replied to rallyrx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Just some subie rims I found at the junkyard. Here is my RX with 15" Pugs on it: After I put the new front struts and lowered it, the 15" rims were too big. I had to replace them with the 13" spoked rims in order to save my fenders and tires. Too bad you arent in Sacramento. There are a few sets of pug rims in the local junkyard. -Brian -

When you rebuilt it, did you replace all the gaskets and use new ones? -Brian -

Did you buy it like that or did you paint the trim white? The decal looks good, but the hubcaps gotta go. Cause I like to share, here's my RX -Brian -

putting turbo on a Brat
TheSubaruJunkie replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
There is a dude who put SPFI on his hatch and then a turbo on that. He ran it pretty well, cant remember his name but he hasnt been seen for years. -Brian -
F*CK O*F??? Thanks.... i think i will. I sent you plans, we agree'd. Even tho the car it was supposed to go on is now dead, doesnt mean I dont want the bumper i paid for. I never told you to stop production on it, although I do remember saying it wasnt a big deal and there was no hurry... but that was 2 years ago and no hurry doesnt mean forget about it. But now, you know what... you can forget about it. Next time im in Eugene, i expect to recieve my money back. Or you can mail it, but im not waiting another 2 years. -Brian

Looks like my plans are off as well. I just went to do a brake job on my RX and realized the tweakers who broke into my old house have gotten ALL my tools I cant even take the rims off my car. Im going to have to go shopping for some new tools and some new house stuff, which will drain my bank account. -Brian -
ABS for Older Soobs?
TheSubaruJunkie replied to Tom63050's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Never heard of any type of system. Dont know how safe it would be, you would be altering your brake system which might be more dangerous than just having standard brakes. You'd need to impliment sensors and install computers and such that would be pretty involved. -Brian -
