Dual Cooling Fans in the Brat??
You need an A/C fan, which is skinnier than the larger Grey fan. The A/C fan is black and you should have some plugs already wired in the brat to accept them. If your brat was never intended for A/C it might not fit. Ive never seen one that wasnt though. -Brian

No this can't be
Just saw this on Legacycentral and I dont think it looks like a Subaru. The front end does, but the rear looks like a Cavalier wagon or something. -Brian

Reno Meet - Car Work
What did you do JB?? I'd have to say that was one hell of a wrench fest!! pulled 2 engines, swapped one and still have a WHOLE bunch of work to do. Dave, next time we'll give you a call. We hauled rump roast through Silver Springs and made it back to JB's by noon to continue the wrenching. -Brian

EA81 auto to Manual (4spd or 5spd)
I gotta swap this damn subaru from Automatic to Manual. I could do 4spd or since I have to swap anyhow, maybe I'll go 5spd. I need to know what kinda snags out there i can avoid? Anything to beat or cut before I start? The one thing that is bugging me right now is the peddle assembly, is it really that hard? -Brian

A final farewell...
This sube is only 1 of the 11 I have had. But this one held a special part of my heart... it was my dream subaru. But all good things must come to an end. The car is safe in Reno NV, where it will start its decomposition. I will strip it down to nothing, and transfer its bits and pieces into the next off-road rig of mine. Lift, Brakes, Bumper... Engine and everything but the body and tranny will be used. -Brian

A final farewell...
She doesnt have a name... I usually dont own my Subarus long enough to name them. THey are "he's" when im mad at them, and "She's" when im speaking good about them. Her replacement wont be any bigger, but will be better. We'll see where we go with that Thanks for the kind words guys, its going to make it easier to tear her apart. -Brian

A final farewell...
The TWB rack is on there still. Most those pix are pre-TWB time (notice the old brushguard as opposed to the new one pictured on the trailer). The new subaru will be revieled in a couple weeks. Going to pull a Zap and do a little secret work here. The TWB Rack is going to Subieman, and the guard and bumper and all other goodies (brakes, engine etc...) will go on the next rig. JB... we might be able to take it on one final, guilt-free, run before the dismantle. But its no fun to drive when your sitting on a milk carton -Brian

A final farewell...
It all started with a mint '84 Wagon: Had to add the brush guard to start it off: Oh wait... this one works better: But things wouldn't stop there. One call to PK Davis, a few hundred out of the fun fund and we have this: The car was complete. She served well. Made a round trip to Washington to wheel with the hatch patrol: A year later she made a trip to Medford to wheel with the Rogue Roo's: I even made a trip to the Rubicon & Fordyce Creek with a fellow jeepin buddy of mine: None of that could stop the little beast, except one thing.... ...California Smog Nazi's :-\ So now, here she sits as of today: On the trailer, preparing for her final trip into the mountains. After sitting for over 14 months, i slapped a good battery in her, turned on the fuel pump and cranked her over. A few revolutions and she fired right up! It sickened me to drive her onto the trailer, but its some of the last wheeling she will see. Her journey will take her to reno, where she will shed her parts and help another Subaru live long, to hopefully one day beat those Nazi's who took her away from me. Godspeed my trusty little wagon... you have served me well -Brian p.s. Stay tuned for the next rig.

14" 6 lug rims??
I'll have to double check with him... but Im pretty sure they are 15's. I guess i could be wrong... i'll see tomorrow. -Brian

14" 6 lug rims??
Too big as in the tire selection for 15" rims are usually 28" or larger. The coopers im looking for are discontinued... im in for a fight to find them. BUt since i have 3 good coopers left (slashed one on the trail last time) i want to use those 3 remaining as spares. Meaning i'll need to purchase another set of identical tires. So yeah, 15" rims are out of the question. -Brian

14" 6 lug rims??
JB is running 15" rims. Im only picky because I already own 3 good tires, and i plan to buy another set of the same type. I will use the old 3 from my last rig as spares, and run with a new set of the same thing. 215/75R14 Cooper Discoverer STT's My next rig will only have a 3" lift, and 15"s would be too much. -Brian

14" 6 lug rims??
You do get charged a core charge, but its not that bad. I need 7 rims cause i will have 3 spares. Ive checked toyotas too, but doesnt look like any were offered with 14" rims. I think i'll just walk the yards and see what I can find. -Brian

Milky/foaming Coolant
Only one of many. We have way too much work to get done... will take more than 1 day (which is all I got to spare this week). -Brian

I was gonna ask then but it was getting dark and there was alot of people around admiring (me being one of them). Anyhow, there's always next year and I hope its still running then -Brian

Reno Meet - Car Work
What a perfect time for my phone to get shut off But yes its true. Bright and early Wednesday I will be headed off to Reno, where the wagon will take its final trip to the sky. Not sure when I will be ariving. I would like to be at JB's and have the wagon unloaded by 11am. Earlier if possible. Then we need to travel to Silver Springs to trailer back, *cough* something *ehum*. From what I understand we will also be passing by Sparks and our destination isnt far from carson city. Both of which have Pick-n-Pulls. -Brian

14" 6 lug rims??
Why is it they are so hard to find. I've been searching for rims from old Mitsubishi's and Datsun's etc... All the styles I want are 15" but i need 14's. Anyone here running some 14" 6 lugs? The junkyard is having a sale this weekend: The following parts will be specially priced for this weeks upcoming Manager Special, July 26-August 1: Tires (All) only $7.99! Steel Wheels (All) only $0.99! Rally Wheels only $4.99! Aluminum Wheels only $9.99! yeah, so I think i will search as many pick-n-pull's in the area and try to find some, problem is i need 7 matching rims :-\ -Brian

Towing a lifted EA81 on a tow-dolly...
I'd get a trailer from work and just skip the dolly, but after I drop the wagon off we need to use the dolly to get a brat back to Jibs. The Brat wont start, and I dont feel like pushing it onto a trailer, would be easier to push it onto a dolly. -Brian
-
Milky/foaming Coolant
I should have an engine hoist up there in a couple weeks. Me and Jibs have alot of engine swapping to get done, feel free to use it for the day if you need it. We'll chat more about that later im sure. -Brian

Towing a lifted EA81 on a tow-dolly...
I rent these dollys daily to newbs and i know how to use/operate/safely tow vehicles. Just didnt want my car fishtailing or something cause of the steering being unlocked. and yes, i plan to have the front tires on the dolly. That way i can set the parking brake and be absolutly sure the car wont come off. That and it will have safety chains around the tow points, along with the straps. And mick... it'd actually be a tripple pivot point. The tow hitch is one, the swivel on the dolly is another and then the car turning... would be three, no way in hell im gonna try backing that thing up. -Brian

Milky/foaming Coolant
This is the next step. It goes from coolant, to foam.... to I'd say its a head gasket thats gone bad, that would account for the overheating as well. Have you checked your oil as well? Might want to drain it and see if its milky or foamy as well. -Brian

the megasquirted and edis'd rx !
I wanted to drive your car in comparison. You still running stock boost on that bad mammajamma?? Sweet car indeed. -Brian

Towing a lifted EA81 on a tow-dolly...
Taking the wagon on its last road trip to the sky... I plan on hauling my '84 Wagon with a 3" lift to Reno where me and Jibs will transform her into a new off-roading subaru. Problem is, my ignition is broke on the wagon and right now the key is stuck "on" so the steering wheel will not lock. Would this cause problems while towing it on the dolly? I would feel better if the steering would lock, but since it wont im not sure if I should just opt for the car trailer and scratch the dolly. Any suggestions? -Brian
