  1. Yeah, i used new gaskets when i rebuilt the motor. They are probably 4 months old... maybe 3 (cant remember how long ago i got the thing running again). My exhaust is one piece though. Had the exhaust shop weld 2.5" pipe straight from my downpipe and it runs to a new cat, then runs back to the end of the car with no muffler. Sounded real good before I put that gash in my cat. I was talking to Caleb who sais the 1 piece exhaust could be putting too much stress on my up pipe, which is what could have caused it to split, if that is infact what happend. I guess as soon as im done with my hatch, i'll have to put the RX in the garage and start tearing into it again.... *sigh*. -Brian
  2. 3/4 inch, thanks I can order pretty much anything through work... so i wanted to make sure i get the right stuff before i lay down the cash. Did you use a 9/16" bit for the rims Monstaru? -Brian
  3. I know the studs are like... 14mm or 9/16. So i was thinking maybe thats it... but dont i want the holes alittle bigger than the studs? Also was thinking of picking up a larger bit like 5/8 or 11/16 to use to bevel. -Brian
  4. So for the past week, my boost gauge stops at 0, and the EA82T makes no boost anymore. Sometimes, when im at high revs (past 3500) and at WOT (peddle to the metal) i can get it to jump up to 5-6psi. But off throttle, if I gas it, the gauge will go from -20 hg to 0... but no positive boost at all. Car runs great. No problems, other than this stupid boost thing. I pulled my downpipe off, and checked the shaft on the turbo. No free play or wobble and the shaft spins freely. Im wondering if it maybe my Wastegate or maybe my up-pipe? I know my 2nd cat has a huge gash in it. So i cant tell if the up pipe has developed a leak since the 2nd cat is so loud. -Brian
  5. What size bit did you use on the rims? And what did you use to bevel the holes? -Brian
  6. Can you get me a real pic Stinky? -Brian
  7. Did you ever pull codes? Thats the 1st place I'd start. -Brian
  8. Oh man, its sad to see a split gate in the junkyard!! Very sought after vehicle. -Brian
  9. So i read a thread on this board that said Chevelle shocks would fit lifted EA81's, and eliminate the horseshoe adapter. So i ordered a set of Gabriel's, then i go to install them and find out the bolts to mount the top part of the shocks are too small. Who else is running these and what did you have to do to get around this problem? I think i just completely fubar'd one of my shocks trying to drill the hole larger. -Brian
  10. All the relays should be located under your drivers seat. Remove the seat and that should help you start your search. -Brian
  11. check to make sure the coil wire isnt grounding out somewhere. -Brian
  12. $2300 TOPS. Even that XT you posted is overpriced. -Brian
  13. Rick is right. Loyales have no rear wheel adjustments. If the camber is messed up on the rear of your car, something is bent. The dealership should have known that, as well as the mechanic who worked on your car. I would go back and b!tch them out. -Brian
  14. Last time i was at Pick-N-Pull in rancho cordova i saw a EA81 with AC and Power steering. I was thinking of grabbing everything to convert my hatch, but thats a big project for another day. Plus, now that i have my lift, i dont think i can use power steering without some minor modifications. But yeah, parts should be easy to find. -Brian
  15. You have a '80 brat with a 3" lift? I'd like to see this -Brian
  16. Cool. You have access to alot of good parts in your yards up there. The hardest thing to locate will be the gas tank. -Brian
  17. Ive seen GLF-5's in the junkyard Rick -Brian
  18. Yes, forgot the radiator cap test. Remove the cap, start the car, let the car warm up to operational temps. Pay attention to the fluid in the radiator. If little exhaust bubbles start to appear, you have a blown headgasket. If large bubbles appear, it maybe even worse... and if coolant goes gushing all over and spraying 3' above the radiator... you prolly have a bad head. -Brian
  19. If you paid $700 to have a mechanic check it out, then he better have told you what was wrong. There's no mistaking a blown head gasket, expecially not with a blown turbo. If you run a compression test on the motor, you will know wether or not you have a bad head gasket. Your motor should have Gen3 heads on it, so the gaskets will go before the heads. Unless you severly overheated the motor... then the heads will warp and crack and you'd be screwed. There's no mistaking a cracked head, if the car is running alright right now, i wouldnt worry about heads. What color is the smoke you see? Do you have a boost gauge hooked up, and is that a blow off valve you installed or a bypass valve? -Brian
  20. Zap, that OBS looks very sharp with those rims. Definatly cant wait to see it in person. -Brian
  21. I shoulda checked with discount tire... i got mine from Tire Rack. Paid $340 for the set of 4, and $60 for shipping... i assume another $40 for mount and ballance. Althought, my rig is lifted so I dunno how well they'll work on stock subes. -Brian
  22. Maybe... i come from Elvas ave to madison... i usually take fair oaks all the way down, turn at the split and continue on Fair Oaks until i get to San Juan. Then I take san juan to madison, then madison home. If you do see me, honk. I know what a suby horn sounds like, i'll keep an eye out for ya. -Brian
  23. Yeah dude, driving home from work. -Brian
