  1. These are those pix! Only bath it'll see is a mud bath!! -Brian
  2. Gonna start a new thread, just because :-p I hate adding pix to page 2 of a post, and these pix deserve their own thread. Sure, she's not muddy just yet, but she's rollin out of the garage on all 4's!! This should be 56k friendly. If not, just wait And the money shot: Took it for a short drive around the block, tires dont rub at all... even when the wheel is fully locked. But, once i got it up into 2nd gear and started to gain speed the steering wheel started to jerk alittle. I know its not a CV, since I have none up front and im running in RWD. Im thinking one of the front tires isnt seating properly, and I may have to do alittle more work on the hubs. At least i hope so, hoping its not cause of the redrilling of the rims. Some of the lugs arent 100% perfect, and arent seating properly. Not sure if that would cause problems like this. All that's left really, is to re-install the engine stabalizer bar, cut the radiator hose, install the skid plate and electronics (CB, Air compressors, maybe a new stereo). Oh, and I need to get some CV's for the front. Payday is Friday and Saturday I'll goto Autozone and order 2 new GCK CV's, so hopefully next weekend I can get it muddy and really test things out. -Brian
  3. Im kinda curious myself. Are you speaking from experience, or from your... -Brian
  4. Yes, if you look at the bolt pattern on your flywheel, you'll notice a couple of the holes are closer together and a couple are farther apart. This is so you can only bolt the flywheel on in one position. -Brian
  5. Not sure if Uberoo has ever bleed brakes before, but do not listen to his advice. The 1man kits out there work great if you dont have a friend handy, i havent used one myself, i usually call a buddy up and have him pump the brakes for me while i bleed them off. -Brian
  6. not really useless. Useless would be if I had nothing there at all, the stock skid plate is better than nothing, so i would consider it somewhat useful. And ive hit plenty of stuff with the BYB blocks, still look as new as the day I recieved them in the mail... over 3 years ago. -Brian
  7. Got the stock skid plate waiting to go back on. PK gives you a 3" block that allows you to maintain the stock skid plate, im going to do alittle work on it and pretty it up before I put it back on. Didnt get any work done yesterday, took a nap instead of workin in the garage. TOnight maybe I'll finish the other hub and get 'er done! -Brian
  8. Glad to see this car back in the family. Not sure what the secret was with the prev owner. I never did find out where it sat the last few years, but what i heard from others, i didnt like. Im sure its in better hands now. -Brian
  9. Sounds like an alt to me. These things fail. My RX went through 2 of them before i went and bought a new one. Replaced the 1st dead alt with one from a parts car I had. That died about 4 months later and I went to Kragen. Think i paid $80 or maybe close to $100 for a new one. No problems since. They're easy to replace. -Brian
  10. There is alot of good info out there on this carb. Im having the same problem as you. Search google. -Brian
  11. OMG IM FREAKING BEAT!!! It was 105 out today, and I just spent the last 2 hours in the garage drilling, countersinking, and grinding!! Im soaked from head to toe, looks like i just stepped out of the shower with all my clothes on (but, boy... doesnt smell like it). Anyhow, I drilled the rims out. The lugs line up, but its not 100% perfect... im sure it will do just fine, if something fails i'll kick myself later, but im sure i couldnt have done any worse than the rest of the board members here For those of you who want to use CHevy Luv rims, note to self: You need to grind alittle off the front hubs. There are 4 dimples that hold the subaru wheel center, and they are in the way. Just about 1/16" off each one, and the rim should fit. I just got finished with one side, and i ran out of light. Its almost 10pm and i still have yet to eat dinner. So, i'll complete it tomorrow. But for now, i have the rear tires mounted and one front... good enough for some pix! Sorry for the dark pix. I ran out of sunlight. Tomorrow after I finish the other front, i'll be sure to get some better pix. Maybe take it somewhere and pose on some rocks or something. -Brian
  12. Buy an aftermarket snorkle from any off-road company. Check out AA's product car, they have a very slick looking snorkle. If done right, PVC looks really good. -Brian
  13. 1980... single range. 4WD so its a 4speed single range 4WD, 1600cc -Brian
  14. Hey, a few of your pix arent comming up. Im getting a placecard from Photobucket saying theyve been moved or deleted. Sounds like a cool project anyways. -Brian
  15. Awesome! Welcome to the board. We have a special off-road forum dedicated to people like us -Brian
  16. The forum has a photo gallery that all registered members can use. You can link to the images there, or use the tag to display the images in your thread. -Brian
  17. You guys got a ton of RX's out there... dont tell me none of them made it to the junkyard?? -Brian
  18. My 3" lift needed some BFH work done near the strut mounts. OUt of sight, out of mind. -Brian
  19. Not from a stand still. Its proven that AWD vehicles put less HP to the ground than 2WD. But, the added traction usually makes up for it. -Brian
  20. Yeah i was talking about my center diff. Reason I said -Brian
  21. Its not the spinning parts that robs power, its the extra drag all 4 wheels create. Those spinning parts wont be under any stress, and the motor wont have to push the wheels on those corners. Your not gonna gain alot of HP, but the motor spinning 2 vs 4 wheels is enough to notice a difference. -Brian
  22. Ive been wanting to do RWD On my RX, but with the open center diff i dont want to burn anything up and ruin my tranny. But, when i accelerate i wonder how much power FWD is robbing. Glad to hear things are going good with your conversion. -Brian
