TheSubaruJunkie replied to subieman's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Cool, sundays are usually our day to do something. Everyone seems to have that day off. Maybe I can talk the NV guys to comming down here for a change so you dont have to drive as far... but, you do have a forester so im sure you driving 4 hrs will be more comfortable than us EA81 guys driving even 2 hours. -Brian -

I dont really care. I preffer somewhere semi close to Jibs or Jeremys since my Kumho's are horribly off ballance. Dont feel like doing a ton of street driving on the M/T's. What time does everyone want to roll out. I may be leaving in the AM and bringing a friend. -Brian -

Yeah Jeremy, i'll probably be leaving late and getting up there around 9-10ish. Still gotta touch base with Jibs and everything. I plan on packing my CB, its not installed yet, but doesnt take but 2 wires to get it rigged up. Would like to have Jibs installed too so we can keep in touch. We'll both have digital camcorders as well, so this should be a fun day. -Brian -
Sarge, no one here will know if they fit, unless someone here has already been using them. If you plan on lifting your car later, i would just wait. Or else your going to beat the crap out of your car, cut a bunch of metal off... then later when you do install your lift, your car will look like snot. Or, just grab a sawzall... and fit 31's. Im sure it can be done. -Brian

Im gonna be commin up probably Saturday the 5th, then yeah... we gotta wheel the piss out of my hatch on Sunday. Me and JIbs have to stress test our stuff before the long haul in a few weeks. Now i only need to get my CV's installed. This weekend the weather is gonna be GGGGREAT!!! Sacramento's gonna be 86ish from what they say, so i can only imagine what it'll be like up at your elevations. I dunno about Kyburz, as much as i love it, its a hell of a drive. And you guys have a ton of great terrain in your back yards. -Brian -
The RX maybe for sale, if the price is right. I can tell you right now tho... $1500 aint gonna cut it Besides, the RX isnt california legal anymore. Reason I maybe forced to sell it. -Brian

can I hook up the torbo
TheSubaruJunkie replied to Mike Moore's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Dunno what a Torbo is, but your carburated car is stuck as a carbbed EA82. If you are looking for power, buy a weber. -Brian -
All legacys have EJ22's in them. And lets clarify that the Loyale's and GL/DL line dont have AWD. THey have Part Time 4WD. Meaning you select from FWD to 4WD via a lever, and its not safe to drive in 4WD on pavement. The RX however has a Full Time 4WD Tranny, which in actuallity is AWD. It also has dual range so you have a high and low range, but always in 4WD. With the center diff locked, you get true 50/50 front/rear distribution so on gravel you get superiour traction. That, and RX's all came with rear LSD's, so they are prime for a rally car. $1500 is a decent price, i stole mine for $1000... but Gen.Disorder is right. The EA82T isnt very reliable if you want to make big power. Less than a year after owning my RX, i blew the motor up. But i have since rebuilt it, and performed a few modifications to keep it fun to drive. Ive also owned a Turbo Legacy, and in all honesty I didnt like it near as much as i love my RX. I sold the legacy to buy the RX, and there are no doubts in my mind. The RX is much more agile, and rally prepped. The Legacy will cost you twice as much to purchase, and 3x as much to prepare for rally. Even tho there are not many aftermarket upgrades for the RX as the Legacy, ther are plenty of ways to get the performance you are looking for. Oh, and one other thing. The EA82T in the RX is no different than the EA82T offered in the GL/DL line. There are GL10 models out there that have the Full Time 4WD Transmission with a center diff lock, just no dual range. So even though the RX is rare and hard to find, its not hard to mimick. -Brian

Thanks for sharing Zap. I for one hate secret mobiles... its like your trying to keep things from us, and arent we your friends? Friends share! I think that thing will look badass. So, if your thinkin of a 2.2... and then a T-Case, you must be thinking of 8-10" of lift too right? Cant wait to see it finished, but the WCSS is less than 90 days so looks like i'll only get to see pix of it on the board. -Brian

Pics: First decent offroading for my EJ Hatch!!
TheSubaruJunkie replied to 88HatchMonster's topic in Off Road
Awesome lookin rig!! -
Opened both eyes this time, re-read the post and it doesnt even mention off-road anywhere in it. The EA82T is a good motor, but not for off-roading. Low compression means low torque off idle. You want the opposite when you are wheelin. You wanna keep the motor at low revs to keep your tires from spinning. The EA82T makes power above 3000rpm, try wheelin at 3000rpm next time and see what you break. not only that, but you have a turbo sucking air into the motor at a high rate of speed. If your in a dusty and dirty atmosphere you will be sucking in alot of junk that will be quick to ruin your turbo. So no, the EA82T isnt a good motor for Off-road use. -Brian

What did you pull this carb off of in the junkyard? These carbs can be used on almost any engine depending on the jet configuration. If you pulled this carb off of a 22RE and put it on your subaru, then expect to have problems. I got my carburator from the junkyard too. But i got it off of a EA81 with the adapter plate. I trust it is jetted correctly, and other than being filthy it is working just fine. -Brian

What would the ultimate EA82T engine be?
TheSubaruJunkie replied to Syonyk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The ultimate EA82T would be a EJ22. -Brian -
Did you have to trek through the mud? What does this have to do with Off-Roading? -Brian

TheSubaruJunkie replied to mcbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I agree with Shawn. You mick, have a problem. But keep up the good work!! -Brian -
Im sure they do. I just got them cause they were cheap. They are pretty soft and i like how it allows my hatch to flex alittle more. -Brian
