  1. I was going to suggest that as well. Ive used the stock EA81 rack rail and mounted it to a bumper of mine, then used the threaded inserts to mount lights. You could screw the rail into the hood, but seal it with something so when it rains you dont destroy your interior. -Brian
  2. If there was a problem with the splines... im sure the 300 threads that already exist, and the detailed tutorial in the USRM would have mentioned it. You will be fine. -Brian
  3. Uberoo... i dont see anywhere in his thread where he specified he had a 4" lift. Sarge, your doing things in the right order. Get those rims. And with 4" you should be able to run the 28's no problem. There will be some beating, and some cutting... but its worth it. Jibs is runnin 28's on his 4" lifted brat. Looks good. -Brian
  4. I know its your car and your call... but the fender and above the trim would have looked 10,000x better in my opinion. Nonetheless, its still going to look sharp! -Brian
  5. Sorry... but hey, i just noticed you have the same crappy harbor frieght cordless drill i do I find mine works best if you operate it with the charger plugged in. You planning on hiding those wires? -Brian
  6. Sarge how much lift do you have? -Brian
  7. Climbs... you say a trail run Friday? What time do you plan on being at the show? Me and Jibs will be ariving early Friday and will be ready for some wheelin! -Brian
  8. Yeah rear disk removal in a junkyard has to be one of the toughest junk yard jobs ive done. Find a steel rim and try it that way, ive had success with the pry bar in the lugs trick, but it may lead to bleeding knuckles and/or excessive use of swear words. PB Blaster goes along way. -Brian
  9. Enough to make em fit. Shouldnt be alot. Really depends on the tires you run, not the rims. -Brian
  10. Does that mean Pimp or something? -Brian
  11. Yeah pitch stopper, engine stabalizer bar... same thing. Its a bar that runs from just under the spare tire area, and bolts to the engine. You gotta remove it, but he gives you an extension so it still used. -Brian
  12. $299.95 is a good deal for good tint. Get refferences, but just save for a few weeks. My dad bought a do it yourself tint kit from Kragen. He did it himself and it turned out looking like crap. REally, was horrible. -Brian
  13. Take a bar and stick it between the lugs. Use a long bar, then rotate the caliper so the bar hits the ground, and the lugs keep it from rotating. That or bring a buddy and have him sit on the brakes. But sometimes that doesnt work if the rotors are rusty. -Brian
  14. You gotta pay good money for good tint. My friend paid almost $500 to have his truck windows tinted. I got a quote for $175 for my RX, but after talking to other clients of theirs i decided not too. They had problems with their tint bubbling after a few weeks. -Brian
  15. I wouldnt use a clutch from the junkyard. Screw that, if your gonna do it, use new parts so your not doing it again in 3,000 miles. And, dont use 4x4 welders part number. '81 clutch wont work on your EA82. -Brian
  16. Rob those rims look GORGEOUS!! Definatly work on the other three and get them mounted up. That will really compliment the RX. And I vote for the alloy over the gold. Gold rims only look good on blue cars. Compliment them with some good tires. -Brian
  17. I think it looks badass with the PCV comming out of the front of the fender. -Brian
  18. Do the black, but try to polish those rims you have before you paint them. Yours are kinda faded and will take a while to get that chrome finish back. Find a RX kit yet? -Brian
  19. Doesnt matter, the calipers will work no matter what you chose. Ive used Sedan rear disks on EA81 wagons, and Wagon rear disks on EA81's as well. As long as you use all the parts from the donor you should be fine. -Brian
  20. 4th week of August is the big West Coast Subaru Show! BE THERE!!! http://www.westcoastsubarushow.com -Brian
  21. Yeah with the hose it should make your hole look alittle more round and not so jagged. Will also protect the PCV from getting all scratched up and should hold it still alittle better. -Brian
  22. Get some fuel line. 3/8" rubber hose, and cut a slit down the center of it. Then wrap the hole with the line, and it should give it a good look. Also, paint the surrounding area so it doesnt develop any rust. I would suggest white or silver or something to sorta match the paint. -Brian
  23. $1250 for the hatch. $400 for the tires. $125 for the rims. Lift came from my old wagon, cant really count that. But yeah, i think im still under the $2000 mark. If I added what I paid for my lift, my bumper & rack back in the day... i'd prolly be just over $2200. The hatch is still in pretty good condition. It wasnt mint by far when i got it. Developing rust under the fenders, drivers fender wil need to be replaced unless i can find a way to keep it from flapping around. While beating on body to clear the wheels I found even more rust. Oh, and if you think this thing was mint... you shoulda saw my wagon the day i bought it. That car looked like it rolled off the factory line... but i bought it for a purpose, same with this hatch, and sorry... but that purpose was to beat the crap outa it!! I promise I'll do it with love -Brian
