Red Sedan Build , solid rear axle
some progress on er 8" lift all done up front took the sawzall to the front and rear, decided to stick with the toyota rearend ditched the 720 Nissan case , got another plan, gas tanks gone should have good approach and deparcher angles:grin: lookin at diff ratio options, if I use my 3.7 LSD up front , with the 410 toy rear I could run 30 in tires on the front with 33s on the rear, a Air locker in the rear would be nice:eek: this thing should be pretty light when In done, will leave the red paint and maybe add some "Invassion stars" on the doors like this hood one

SUBARU Wheeler
Ie been tryin to com up with a good name for my current offroad project, Im thinkin "IOD" for Improvised Offroad Device An improvised offroad device (IOD; also known as a lifted Subaru due to contemporary use) is a homemade Wheeler constructed and deployed in ways other than in conventional offroad action. One may be constructed of conventional Automobile parts , such as an stock subaru, attached to a set of mudder tires .

SUBARU Wheeler
Im happy with ideas comin forth, hope to see some real vehicles in the future and get away from vertual web wheelin, want to see some real world creations and see how they preform , like the lightin a Hatch Idea, I mentioned tire size to make up for the limited axle strenth and no low gears,
-
SUBARU Wheeler
Ok maybe we need to shed some weight and downsize to match the parts gearing and strength , 1/2 the weight and go with smaller tires ,
-
SUBARU Wheeler
whats the final crawl ratio , axle strength with that tire size? Final crawl ratio ? final CR? overall Weight? Final Crawl Ratio? OK things I look for in a offroader are Weight...... Power....... Final Crawl Ratio Flex......... Traction, Tires and diffs Price these cars mentioned with the mods are nothing new, lets put our heads together and come up with a light weight low geared Cheep Offroad Toy , maybe take the engine and transaxle unit put it mid car turn it 90degrees and run the front axles off one axle and the rear axles off the other axle , basically use the front final drive as a transfercase , weld up the diff gears to get a true 4x4 , maybe even throw th car body away and build up a tube frame , come on guys start thinkin up stuff, dont copy the last 100s of lifted soobies , ok Ive leave for now Scott

SUBARU Wheeler
I have a few questions, whats the strongest axles made for a subaru? , whats the lowest Crawl ratio you can acheive ,
-
SUBARU Wheeler
So what would you build if you could only use parts from a Subaru, now the goal is to build a Offroad Wheeler , Ive seen to many threads of people building cars with other brand parts, then others jump in and say Its not a Subaru anymore so heres your challenge use only parts that have come on Subaru vehicles any year, any model , any combination of parts , what would you do ?? I dont want this to turn into a war , I would hope some good constructive ideas would come out of this , things we could apply onto future vehicles , the end vehicle may not be road legal or even look like a car, would be nice if it could carry 2 or more people

Extending steering shaft
sorry to correct you but the steering shaft is at a slope so its not as long as the lift, also on the 4" SJR lift the engine block is 3" tall , dont remember length but its extended less then 3" , also the swaybar shaft is a good size to use for the extension shaft material
