  1. hopefully fluids not light grey(bad)/red(good) couldn't he have popped a cv joint too.
  2. when the abs kicks in on my 94 legacy wagon, instead of a pulsating thump like i told it would sound like i get more of a pulsating squeal or sqreaching sound. suppose maybe i should just sit there and stair at the brakes to see if i notice anything wrong.first time really working with abs brake system. i believe the brake pads are fairly new and the rotors were turned shotly before i got the car. anyone know what i should look for. or is sqeaching sound normal(hope not very annoying) really been thinking of pulling fuse but then i'm sure light on dash would come on.
  3. of course if done right you don't need the handbrake.maybe with auto trans it's different but with 5spd it's easy. (please don't take this as bragging)
  4. if needed contact mudrat,i hear he's great at making adapter plates that would allow that.
  5. glad to hear that you were able to walk away from what sounded like would have been very VERY!!! BAD,forgot who said it earlier but cars are replaceable,we as human beings aren't. guy i knew fell asleep in his 97? legacy at like 45/50 an hit a tree head on,granted he had to be put on strecher but injuries were very minor.car of course was totaled.hit hard enough that it buckled the roof just up to the front doors but back door fine. just remember one thing-your babys safty features saved your life an you may find her twin or recarnation.
  6. what would be the way to reset the ecu? the idea on my 94 legacy is erratic and if i come to a stop real quick,it seems to come close to stalling.
  7. on my 86 gl that i had, when i did the front brakes the first time i found out that you have to turn them(pistons) back in.there is a tool you can buy.or if your really careful you can use a pair of vise grips(just watch out for dust boot) an if that doesn't work then just use calipers from donar car
  8. i have to agree with the treatment on the gears, some companys use it on their fleet vechical to help them last longer/less breakage on parts = more money saved.
  9. do you have the owners manual?? it should say in there.if all else fails call dealership an someone from service should be able to tell you.
  10. $800. bucks/ what was the exact prob, did they say.it does seem very high.
  11. just finished watching the movie RAT. i'm not sure if it is or isn't but it looks like they used a subie 360 van in the movie.heard them refer to it as the bread truck.maybe it's just another small van that looks the same. the movie took place over in ireland and was about how a man turned into a rat an how his family reacted to it.funny movie.
  12. in the 86 gl wagon i had,i mounted both 10 subs in the storage compartments in the back.one on either side.wasn't able to seal good enough though.
  13. you found her right??? yah definitly have to be skilled (like me;) ) to drive on ice
  14. STi 6-Speed Transmission for Impreza, Legacy and Forester. New complete STi 6-speed gearbox unit. The 6-speed was a complete redesign intended to cure many of the weak points evident in the 5-speed when subjected to large torque loads. The biggest difference is in the case design. The 6-speed case is split transversely rather then longitudinally like the 5-speed. This provided significant improvement in rigidity and support for the main and pinion shafts. Additionally, an oil pump was added to the 6-speed to provide better lubrication to all areas of the gearbox. Equipped with Suretrack front LSD and driver controlled center differential (DCCD). Requires kit sold below. STi ratios: 3.636 (1st), 2.375 (2nd), 1.761 (3rd), 1.346 (4th), 0.971 (5th), 0.756 (6th), 3.545 (Rev.), 3.900 (final drive). $4,999 STi 6-Speed Transmission Conversion Kit. Conversion parts from 5-speed to 6-speed include: flywheel, flywheel cover, clutch, STi short throw shift linkage, shift knob, STi group N transmission mount, prop shaft, rear 3.900 ring & pinion set, DCCD (driver controlled center diff.) control unit, DCCD thumbwheel selector switch, DCCD wiring harness, shifter trim, shifter console, shifter boot. $2,499 how bout putting one of these in

  16. congrats on your new ride, and welcome to subie world. maybe if you do the changes one at a time an make em seem like it's regular service work.
  17. 114,000 is actually low for a subaru, mine has 142,000 an runs strong.now granted every car has problems when they get older but with regular maintence an such, subies can go for a long time.seen one the other day with over 200,000 on the odometer an she ran just fine. awhile back i was going through the same as you are and i decided to go with another car loan and now i'm regreating it. hope i was of some help(if any)
  18. this 1990 wagon is faster uphill (more torque I suspect) to 100 than a stock EVO. has anyone ever put twin turbos on their gen 1 legacy?? wouldn't mind that my self
