  2. found this one pretty cheap on amazon..looks simple enough also.. but like mentioned, soobs yr and engine info helps.. http://www.amazon.com/Short-Induction-Intake-System-Filter/dp/B002W60Y5Q
  3. IIRC,my friend (has been working on soobs for years) and his friend (who is a soob dealer mech) did the HG..i think he even had the heads planed too..not sure of parts used (oem vs aftermarket) when i talk to him this weekend, will have to inquire..
  4. It does have the 2.5 (had both HGs replaced about 2 yrs ago along with other seals replaced, helped him do rear down) and new clutch a yr ago..has about 170k on odometer.. only thing it needs is cat, possiable wheel bearing and a couple small things (side marker, door clips, radio, spot of rust along rear wheel arch, etc) and my friend is asking like $1500-$1600 for it.. is there anything that i need to look for that could be issues down the line (something that this yr leg is know to have issues with) ? will have to inquire about timing belt seeing that the 2.5 is interference engine (am i correct ?) can't wait to get back into Subaru again.. i got a couple pics but not great ones..(will update when i get better ones, couldn't back up enough in garage to get full pic)
  5. Man that sucks.. i know i was heart broken the day my soob was taken out by larger vehicle.. are you thinking of buying back from insurance company ?
  6. that is a awesome looking van.. so cute.. i'm glad your gonna keep him close to original.. oh and btw,as i was digging through a box i hadn't unpacked since moving a yr ago,i came across a signed pic of you and the hero card (with your old blue impreza) and was wondering if you were still racing..i assume you are ? (the hero card and pic are now hanging on the living room wall..)
  7. I can relate to the Just Empty Every Pocket thing..Jeeps are great providing you can afford to fix/fill it.. i paid 2k for mine and with in a year,i had to put another $1600 into it for tires, power steering pump and box, rust repair, steering knuckle, more rust repair, etc.(and still needs alot more like shocks, tie rod ends, ball joints..) i know the tires were a normal wear an tear item but still($500+)..just getting to not be able to afford something that only gets 14-15 mpg.. this is Mathilda btw.. this is a friends Jeep..nicknamed the grand voyager...6" lift,36" tires
  8. so just your hazards and no other lights are flashing..? don't take offense but did you check to make sure your hazard switch isn't on ? iirc, there was someone awhile back that had that happen to them, they didn't know they hit it (or that it was there..)
  9. ditto.. I still remember doing front brakes for first time..was a little confused when i found out the caliper piston had to be turned back in and not pushed like most cars.... btw,on the cup holder issue, just get a cheap universal one and you'll be good to go.. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Adjustable-Drink-Holder-Bell-Automotive_25984501-P_N3038_A|GRP2013____ can't recall if there's room for this type but just as example.. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Door-Mount-Drink-Holder-Bell-Automotive_25984516-P_N3038_A|GRP2013____
  10. First off..Welcome aboard and nice Soob man,i miss my old 86 GL with dual range.. stock with all seasons,i'd go where trucks couldn't..(mainly cause they were to big) does it have owners manual ? if so then just read up on the dual range, you'll grow to love and cherish it.. this was my 86 GL (not meaning to hi jack your thread)
  11. Hey what's new ? i haven't been around alot but i'm back..i'm hoping to get this 97 Legacy GT wagon (2.5.5 spd) that a friend has for sale..will know more in a week or so (gonna be a long week) (incase you don't remember me,i meet up with you in Milford to get glove box/factory skid plate..which i still have)

  12. any pics of the mounts ? like the looks..
  13. yeah,as far as the shape mine's in..it just keeps going (providing the transmission issue doesn't act up,possibly clogged filter) my friend has a Legacy GT wagon(2.5,5 spd) for sale, will be checking it out on sat.. i know the head gasket issue on this 2.5 has already been taken care of (i somewhat helped tear down the engine) and it has been given a new clutch maybe a yr ago.just needs a cat and a few other small things to be ready..
  14. lol...as things are going..i may be selling the Jeep and getting back into a Subaru..Man,Jeeps are costly..
  15. i know i haven't been around much since losing the soob back in Jan 09.. not sure if i've mentioned last time i was here of which vehical i was looking at to replace the soob but... i joined the dark side and bought a lifted jeep..97 xj with 3" suspension lift and 31" bfg ats.. first week home as it is now.still same height but with Mud rovers,no flares, fenders trimmed, sway bar disconnected, soon to have rockers cut out and square tubing welded in as sliders.. subarus still hold a special place in my heart.looking to get one for D.D.(gotta start looking and saving up) almost $50 to fill up jeep and with 12-13mpg is starting to be painful..
  16. to post pics here.i upload em at photobucket (free) and then copy and paste em in the thread body.if you put pointer over what ever pic you want,a drop down window appairs, select lowest one(copy and paste that link) it'll show full pic in post.

  17. Here's me while driving my 92 leg several months ago.it's the most recent.(took pic with cell cam while driving..real safe huh?? )
  18. Man,i wish either that was closer to me (7hr drive) or something like the Barrens around my location.. awesome pics.. i'm located in Epsom and currently waiting for another soob..
  19. What's new.its been awhile..my 92 legacy passed on and hopefully might be getting a 93 turbo leg sedan to replace it (or a N/A 93 leg wagon 5spd).prefer the turbo.

  20. Sure engine work is simple but when you have medium to large hands..some things are a pain in the A** like replacing inner tie-rod boots.
  21. shucks,i've had drivers front have all the bolts come loose at once and the ring tumbled around while driving. glad i don't have to deal with abs anymore..
  22. maybe A.A. might be able to help... http://alliedarmament.homestead.com/LiftKit.html i know it's pricey..unless someone knows if something cheaper will give you the extra lift(like a strut swap from another soob)
  23. yup, that's exactly what mine's doing.. i take it you had 4 jack stands under the soob? (so all 4 wheels can move)
  24. +1 i got a friend that works at a soob dealership and he told me about how he had a young kid come in with his WRX after he snapped a front axle(while trying to do a high rpm launch..)this same kid was back a month later with blown clutch..some people shouldn't be allowed to own a car.
