  1. VERY cool! Can't make the Nationals in Denver next week (friend from Flagstaff might go though ) Nice digging on the info!! Just emailed Jennifer about decals for future events. it'd be funn to dress up the 'ol suby some
  2. So part of my hesitation is daily driving ride. but. . . See I've got the legacy on stock OB struts and springs, and its pretty soft. My wife has an IMP on FOR struts and springs and its pretty rough. This is part of the reason we take my car most places, especially road trips. So i want to know if the kings make the on pavement ride rough, like you feel/hear every crack, or just a bit firmer, with off road excellence! I KNOW i'll love it off road. I checked out some of mthoodsub's videos and its nice to see a legacy bouncing around off road (like some of the liftes AE 4x4's on coil overs or what-not) compared to how my legacy would swish and thunk on those trails... THEN, on dirtyimpreza.com, someone was talking about 04 forester struts and springs ON and OB giving it more of a lift. So now I'm thinking of FOR GR2s and raised kins springs, and maybe 04 FOR stuff... You need to use the rear FOR tophats b/c the spring perch is different ( i think the spring's diameter tapers), but the body mounting is the same as LEG and OB. Just trying to get the COMPLETE picture before i send $700 overseas for springs giving me a set-up, that could be better. I'm planning on doing the raised king springs, no doubt. Just the details man, its all in the details

Pix and vidz up on the utah rally group websit! Checkit! http://www.utahrallygroup.com/picsnvid.php the top window of videos and another slideshow: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=119916&id=511417255&l=9927c2cb32 yep, nearly 2-wheeling it My first rally-x and SOOOO much fun!!! And my friend romping the '09 Most of the day 1 AWD field, save a 98 IMP 2.5 and an Audi A4 V6
  4. Ooh how right you are!!! I should, just do it and I'll be happy!! BUT here's another question Mthoodsub brings to mind Why the OB struts but Forester springs and top-hats?? Why not OB springs too? Could I use my same top-hats (from 97-97 OB) with FOR GR2s or FOR scorpion springs? Would there be an advantage to using FOR GR2s and FOR scorpion springs (regular or raised)? I'm getting new struts soon and am thinking of doing FOR rather than OB... Are forester springs taller or stiffer than OB springs? Is it like a little MORE lift going FOR raised vs. OB raised? OK, I am sold on the stiffer ride and better handling of the king/scorpions, (especially when compared to stock:lol:) BUT (and there's always a butt do raised springs just push the car up and closer to the top of suspension travel? Would it be better to have the whole swing of travel as from NON-raised scorpion springs then push the car up on like a 1" block (see jacksonrally) to get more tire and ground clearance, OR just do it all with the raised spring. See yeti, you thought it was over, my waffling and questioning, but touche I still got questions BUT I am definitely closer to getting the springs.....Oh, and I need new struts anyway, so I'll do the GR2-scorpion combined thing together, WOOP WOOP
  5. I'm a 95 legacy owner using 98 OB struts and springs. That was a straight swap, no problems with VC axles or anything. I realize this is not the same set up as you have but hope I can shed a little info for your interest, if not just a few more question to ask. I looked (briefly) into an OB swap into a 2000/2001 Legacy sedan but found those (I think 2000 and newer) got a different rear suspension (independent?) from my model year, and was confused if it would still be a straight swap from similar model year OB to legacy. I asked around but unfortunately fell short on replies. Hopefully someone can chime in here though and steer you straight, but it seems to me you'd do the front struts straight from an OB into your legacy no problem with CVx or anything (maybe a camber kit (simply a special pair of bolts for the lower strut mounting holes) to help with your later allignment), and the rears would be the coil spring (taller in OB) and separate shock (longer travel? in OB) from an OB to the Legacy. I've also since found out its a good idea to bring the spacer block from the engine crossmember of the OB into your legacy (It fits between the engine crossmember and the body) as well as look into the rear swing arm mounting bracket. BUT since the rear suspension is different from my model year this may not apply. I can post pix of the engine cross member blocks and the swing arm mount later (I am not at home with camera, car and parts just now)... Hope this helps and it'll be good to see a newer model year OB lift!! Congrats and good luck, -mark-
  6. But by putting blocks on, doesn't that just push the body up off the suspension, like body lift vs. a suspension lift of the 'ol 4x4s? Ooh, wait its a unibody, so pushing the body up pushes engine/tranny up too, huh? Hmmmm, I see. Well i did just recently get the engine x-member blocks from a forester and the rear sway arms and brackets from an outback to fit into my lego.. So that'll push the engine down close to an inch and lesses the axle angles up front, then the rear swing arm bracket also pushes things down the same distance so that should help angles too, right? I'm thinking scorpion springs and considering scorpion raised spings vs. a 1" block kit (like from jackson rally, but this looks simpler and cheaper)... :-\ BTW, Nice work on these little lift block sets ya'll!!!
  7. Did you get the one from Zap, or was it Nipper (I forget who is ho in the Northwest...:-\)? this spring? If so, PM me, I've questions
  8. Good question, but frankly, they don't answer all my questions. They really banter back and forth with dates and figures and created confusion from a good idea. I've been REALLY interested in importing an Aussie D/R AWD tranny for a few years. In fact I have gotten MANY of my questions answered directly from Phizinza. But, I've been away from the forum this summer a LOT, then came on today browsing other avenues I rarely visit, like the retrofitting forum. And lo, found all these recent threads on the same idea I have been quite interested in for some time. As such, I was just hoping to get a little consolidation of the most recent info from the involved parties and organizers, for myself as well as for clarification for others interested and involved. That's all
  9. Hello all, I am VERY interested in southern hemisphere D/R tranny for my USA 95 Legacy 2.2. I have many inquiries bouncing around on this board then today found 5 threads (http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=103665...........Ian; http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=103495; http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=103567; http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=103720; http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=103125; http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=103665&page=2) describing a working deal between many USMBers and a new poster from NZ (kiwishooter). Unfortunately, as often occurs in web forums, there has been a LOT of misunderstanding and snarky spray bouncing around. Sorry to read that, but so it goes. As I indicated, I am VERY interested in a D/R full time AWD tranny. These forementioned threads describe D/R trannies from late model legacies, some with center locking capabilities (there seems to be some disagreement on this actuality), but ALL are dual range and would bolt up to our USA EJ vehicles. I (speaking solely, but perhaps for others) would like to see if we can get these multiple threads consolidated to one place with the most up to date info. Sounds like (and please correct me if I'm wrong) USA buyers would be paying around $400 (+/-) for a D/R EJ-fitted AWD shipped from NZ to LA. More if shipped to Seattle. My personal interest is in final drive gearing and in low range reduction gearing. Please correct mt if I'm wrong but I understand these trannies to be: 5 speed manual 3.9 (or are they 3.7) final drive 1.19 low range gear reduction Thank everyone who's interested (like me), and perhaps if this gets consolidated into ONE recent thread, title it something with *cumulative info on D/R EJ trannies shipped to USA, updated as of (insert date)* Thanks again to everyone involved, especially to kiwishooter for the offer to share NZ D/R with te US and Grossgary for footing much of the spray, to the friend in IN for offering/agreeing to be the financial mediator and to the shop in Seattle for agreeing to be a US receiving port. Again, count me as interested in D/R AWD transmission to bolt-on to my EJ22, pending gearing and low range applicability.
  10. Hey JesZek! Good to read from you again! Do you remember my brother in law Erik, from our visit to Honduras? Wel he buys cars here and sends them there to sell there. I wil put him in touch with you because I am sure he can help you out in finding a good car not too expensive. He sent his mother a 2001 legacy sedan auto. (not many autos in honduras, in fact he suby dealer was very excited to see it).
  11. Hey The Yeti, yeah, i've seen this post, in fact i've referenced it to others here as well. Its part of my inspiration, but i'd like feedback from owners. Your thoughts and impressions of the springs when compared to stock, similarly with the GR2s vs. stock. and of course photos are always nice I know there are others out there, but this thread seems not to be reaching them thanks, -mw-
  12. It (so I'm told) disconnects the battery connection as for long term storage, also functions as a safety 9when monuted appropriately) as a safety device, and a theft deterant. I've found that some juice still goes to the battery when this disconnect's key is removed, i.e. when "disconnected" i still get the door chime, but won't turn the motor over. Seems good except when it doest not maintain a ground when the key is in and operating 9as to complete the ground curcuit). so it goes.
  13. Turns out it was a bad ground. I had installed a neg. ground disconnect switch and think rally-ing it may have gotten dirt /dust in there and made for a bad connection. I deleted the switch and car fires right up yay for running car, boo for battery disconnect switch

Is this on a first or second gen Suby, or are you rolling a new gen Suby?
  15. Looks nice, ESPECIALLY in the snow I would love to see more pix AND BUMP for the rest
  16. Twas my first thought also, if it turns it can't be frozen. I suspect starter. Jumping did nothing more than it does on its own, voltmeter and battery charger/tester indicate Battery is good. I suspect starter. Hmm, tell me more about the solinoid. This a an EJ22 in a 95 legacy. I rally-xed last weekend, good FUN runs (perhaps vid and pix to post in the rally section later). Wife left site, drove 3 hours no probs, then check engine light came on so she stopped it and got towed home. I got back checked it, engine oil low, but not dry, coolant low (as in couldn't see fluid when cap removed), so added about 1/4 cup H2O and pushed air out of upper rad. hose, coolant level fine. So, good battery, gas, some oil, turn key, get click and "slow" urnf crank. 1 maybe 2 turns but no more... We have a 93 IMP also, so i'll pull the starter from that to try that first, but i think this weeken may be spent under the hood We'll see though. Off from work ALL next week, but wife's friends from grad school coming to play with us this weekend and all next week too Thanks for chimin in so soon GG!
  17. Hmm, so how does a seized motor behave? Anyone with experience in this please chime in. I've got a good battery and plenty of fuel, low but some oil but when turning the key, I get the started motor click, a struggled "ern" crank but no fire.. I REALLY hope i didn't weld my motor.

It was GOOD times!! my first rally-x and LOVED IT!! They're a good group and want to do more stuff. Check 'em out on http://www.utahrallygroup.com/ They should post pix of this event soon, I imagine. I'm going to look for hosting places down here in Moab, and I'm sure they'd be psyched to get other places around the state too. Know of any? let 'em, know..
  19. Slickrock is a riot! Give a shout if/when you come down. Mt. biking is fun, Fall ealry winter in Moab is NICE!!!
  20. Right. Yeah, i saw that just after i posted the question Dooh, going to miss yet another one! Been wanting to get up there since 7!
  21. Baby lion's back is east out of moab up the sand flats road, past lion's back (LOTS of you tube videos of this one, one on particular with a bronco coming down WITHOUT brakes), and just past Hell's revenge, just before the parking lot for the slickrock mt. bike trail.
  22. Bump. When is WCSS, and where?

Oh, mine's a 95 legacy sedan that's been on OB struts and springs for 5 years. Ditto, no probs and sitting higher than OBs, especially on the 27.5" tires. I'm just thinking of going with king/scorpion's raised springs when I replace the struts with the KYB GR2 outback ones. But I'm told there are other things to do to a non-outback car riding on OB struts so you don't F-up the axle geometry. I'm looking for pix of new gen rigs on king/scorpion springs or their raised springs and with and without additional lift blocks. I've got some pix of my sedan floating around here and there if you're interested. Thanks though.

Taking or giving. Oh, stop that! sorry dood, couldn't resist. Ya left the door WIDE open on that one..
  25. A call to all you rolling on king/scorpion springs in your new gen rigs. Regular or raised springs. I'd like to get your input, comments, cheers and jeers of those springs. Please illucudate if you're on factory struts, KYB GR2s, lift blocks what kind of tires you're rolling, all that good stuff. I'm REALLY interested in a straight comparison of stock springs to king/scorpionsprings and those with raised springs also. Its likely most of you are on GR2s also, but that's probly just down the road for me anyway so probly a wash.. Thanks and pix would be FANTASTIC too!
