  2. Hey JesZek, happy new year!! I finally got around to browsing this thread on the carbed latin-american leggo. Now I've got a question for you, involving some honduran yonkey searching for me. How often do you see latino foresters in yards down there? I'm interested in a latin-american or australian forester 5 speed, dual range AWD tranny. I have communications with a good guy in Australia for one, but I think the cost and shipping might be more than one from central america. It looks like from this thread, that 90 carbed leggo was dual rang 4 wheel not ALL wheel drive? Is that true? Do early 90's latin american leggos and foresters still have 4x4, and FWD, or are they really dual range AWD? I would suspect they are really full time AWD with a hi and low range. I am interested in a dual range AWD and prefer a forester (98-2001?) over a legacy transmission, for the gearing. I assume, but maybe you could verify the gearing, that the forester gearing would be like australia's where it is 4.11 final drive and 1.44:1 low range, where as the legacy D/R/ AWD is 3.90 final and 1.189:1 low range. Thank you JesZek and we can PM for further details, if this kind of searching is something you could/would do. Happy New Year my friend!!
  3. Where are peoples' suggestions for junk yarding in GJ?
  4. Favorite junk yards in Grand Junction?? Where do you go?? Thanks!
  5. Thought I'd post this here in the older gen forum, just an FYI for you all. http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=105002 Happy Holidays one and all. . .

  8. +1 I'm curious how your axles are dealing with the new angles and forces of the lift. OOH and I'd like to hear your perspective on the phantom grip, now that you've been running it for a while in different conditions, on and off road. Thanks! -mw-

Because who doesn't like to play in the snow!!! I know its not the coolest or most exciting video and flickr chopped it to only 1.5 minutes, but what the heck?! I like to share, had a camera and was psyched from a small back country tour yesterday! http://www.flickr.com/photos/weissinger/4195083521/ I NEED an LSD in back, anyone got a cheap 3.7 clutch-type LSD to pawn off on me? *EDIT* Change of video hosting venue
  11. Engine change? from your swamping? Did it turn out badly in the end? What're you putting in? Nice goat by the way!

wow, the love it pretty thick in this thread, huh?
  13. Very nice, and welcome the the Mudrat Baja bumper family! I think you were at John's when I called and yaked with him on the phone as I was getting ready to come up there for some strut swapping. He mentioned a white Lego rolling out on blocks just a few days before I rolled in. Your rig does look good with the 1.5" OB strut swap (that's where I am now), AND the 2" blocks. Are you rolling an auto or 5MT? Where in AZ are you? Drop a line if you roll that way again, or if you roll through Moab en route. Cheers, -mark-
  14. hopefully not apples and oranges, but when installing my new GR2s, and running out of time and not having ALL the right stuff to do my plan, i shot this quick pic. So until I have a FOR front spring for a real side-by side, here's an OB front with sn SVX front and a FOR rear. Turns out the SVX H6 coil tapers its diameter at the top, thus not fitting the OB tophat with the SVX upper spring perch.. I'm working on getting the SVX tophat and front FOR coils for some more fiddling. . .

Yeah, i though about coming to nationals (where your local crew raked it in My friend from flagstaff is also WAY interested. He's running an 09 WRX (for now at least)... But yeah, keep me posted if you wouldn't mind, on stuff there or in UT. I don't really look that stuff up often, but could look for time to make it to events though. Thanks Andrewmiller AND ShawnW for the props too,

Huh? Wha, where? I guess I did too.
  17. bad fat fingers, BAD! title corrected So, basically sounds like it was in second gen of outback, specific year is kind of moot. Its NOT in the first gen OBs, thus the H6 front coils may not go onto first gen OB struts. BUT, then again they may. . . ? Has anyone done this, put H6 coils on first gen (95-99) front struts? This is in fact the heart of my question. Thanks for the verification on which gen OB H6 was introduced.
  18. So I've heard swapping 2.2 heads onto a 2.5 gives higher compression and more HP. Does anyone know if EJ18 heads will go onto an EJ22, or would heads from a 2.0 be better. If so what are the 2.0 options (models and years)? Opinions if this avenue worth exploring. . . Thanks, -mark-
  19. NICE!! I forget, ere you looking at mine earlier this year, but money, distance and want for shipping were prohibitive? Either way, I'm psyched you also found a gen 1 to bring back on the road!! Good find!
  20. VERY nice!! I bet The Man won't like it when the spare covers the license plate Ooh, unless i missed a plate mount on the bumper
  21. It sounds like this might be answered? as such, i have a similar but different concept question. What do people think about swapping an Aussie Forester (say 98-00?) 5MT into a USDM 95 Legacy? What issues concerns might i need to think about and look into more deeply? As I understand the AU FOR is 4.11, so i'll need a 4.11 rear diff, but otherwise will there be other concerns if FOR is 2.5 and my Leg is 2.2? If there are different bolting (bell housing) paterns, say FOR is 6 bolt but my Leg is 4 bot, would they still mesh where they overlap?? Thoughts continue, but looking for more heads' worth of Suby experience, and ideas I wouldn't think to concern myself with. Thanks! -mark-
