  1. ok, when ur driving its really smooth, but as soon as you get off the gass you hear a whining noise, not that its super loud, but its there, but it sounds like its downshifting once i get off the gas.
  2. its probably because there paper, and have a good chance of breaking i guess? or dosent filter well? i forgot, but there crap, because there paper.
  3. Well, i was thinking a better quality fluid might fix the whining whenever i get off the gas, by the way, does the rear diff cause this noise? or torque converter?
  4. yes, one has a minor scuff, not a big deal, not cracked or anything, i just put 20 paint layors on it and it filled it in good, but how much got pics, PM me, but im more interested in a driver side corner like for a 93 legacy. Thanks
  5. acually it does look like honey:mad:, when i pulled the dip stick on the front diff, it looks like honey, and the rear diff is new fluid, i guess i wont see a huge improvment, but ill bet ill see a difference when i install my new brakes and brake lines, and change my bad CV:)
  6. sorry but yes, PLEASE, i had my dealer change the fluid so i have no clue, thanks nip!
  7. ok thanks, so whats the recommended weight:rolleyes: got any recommendations for fluid? or is royal purple good? jump wondering though, i think i changed the rear diff fluid about 3 months ago, it was quieter, and more smooth in the rear, when im in the back, but in the front seems more ruff:-\. So im thinking i should change both fluids at the same time.
  8. I think my dads in the mood to work on the subi over the weekend, going to do all 4 discs, front pads, all the brake lines, and 1 front CV, going to be fun. but now i cant remember where i saw this but someone said they changed there diff fluid to royal purple fluid, and it ran more smooth, and quicker all around, an quieter? are there different gear oil weights? If so what should i run? And whats a good suggestion for diff fluid? thanks!
  9. i guess that would be best actually doesn't attract dust and crap, and holds, so u dont need to spray it once a week.
  10. ONLY 500!!!!!!!!! thats amazing!!! 500!! im nuts for fixing my subi for the amount i paid at once, but hey, there are alot of memories in the car, im going to drive my subi till it's impossible to buy parts or find them. Ill just continue to rust proof, and it should last forever!! ill be 80 years old, and say hey is that USMB forum still around? i want to know if someone has some OEM hub caps for a 93 legacy wagon. lol, ill be like still running like day one after like 70 years! lol, and no rust. Id like to see the originall engine and tranny too.
  11. ya, or you can buy the cd optical cleaning discs with brushes on the disc, but i dont know, just get some nitrogen and stick it in the slot, and that odd to clean her out.
  12. Nip, you found some great sites, i odd to take a drive far far in to the dessert! but i live in canada But i should take a trip out to USA,subaru will have a great time, but i need to get 4 new discs, and front pads need to be done, and the brake lines are crappy, and the front left cv needs to be done, and i need to *************** to my tranny shop. Then ill go on a road trip. But definitly looked like you had some fun!
  13. I wonder where i can find a EJ20 TT it sounds like a fun engine ! About ur CD problem, did you burn the CD's?? if so it can't read a mp3 cd, needs to be in a regular cd format, also try a regular CD if u have not already, sometimes the CD optical gets dirty, so a CD optical cleaner disc might fix that.
  14. Maybe she brought the car to church, and got it baptised!!! and it was blessed to stay healthy!!
  15. That thing must be sweet!! Lucky, how fast is it exactly is it like, you floor it, and your face is outside of the vehicle, or so fast that you can't hold the pedal down?
  16. what if it is a 229k belt? possibly the person u bought the car from drove VERY slow and never floored it.
  17. Are there any two doors in japan? possibly u can import one.
  18. OH, i got a really good suggestion, go buy a new wrx, and pull out a mig welder, and weld the rear doors!!! and pull out the dorr handles, and weld a piece of metal there!! then you will have a 2 door:banana:
  19. well they are very reliable overall, just check the fluid and see if its full, and if it smells burnt, if all is good, i doubt u would need the warrenty but how much is the warrenty? i mean if the tranny breaks u could just swap it.
  20. well maybe ur tires are just crap? or something is low on oil, i cant remember where i saw this, but another guy said there was some vibration and the guy tryed a better diff fluid, and he said the vibration was gone, he changed probably to royal purple diff fluid, and it made the car quieter smoother, and no more vibration, but might be the CV still.
  21. sounds liek all u need is a new temp sesnor, 20 bucks. Someone here will say its the thermostat i know someone will, but it is most likely the temp sensor and its way easier to change the temp sensor then a thermostat.
  22. might just be something simple like the tires are out of balance, might even be a broken CV boot, might not be clicking, but may have lost some lubrication.
  23. No it isnt brand new he has 80k, thats alot IMO for a 2005, and the undercarage might be coroded, anything is possible, dont assume things u dont know, but if u read, i didnt say IT IS NOT the wheel bearing, i said i DOUBT its the wheel bearing, and i find with the vehicle experience i have, they mostly make noise when i turned, and changed pitch, wasnt a steady pitch OK.
  24. well maybe the emergency brake is stuck, u have alot of rust? also, well probably isnt a wheel bearing, but still possible, because a wheel bearing usually changed tone when u turn, something is dragging. jack up the car, and spin the wheel, also might be the rear diff, anything is possible.
