  1. just look at the aus lifted libs they are basically a lifted outback.a few lifted fozza's in Qld.in the end i think it comes down to space, more room in a outback/lib,and personal choice. From what i've seen i reckon they are both very capable offroad.
  2. non replacable uni,s just go to wreckers and look for a low km one.or a driveline shop can machine out and put in replacable uni's last time i priced it was about $400.interesting point about the plate can't say i,ve seen it done like that before i thought it needed the support from the 3 bolts.Got a mate who has a 2" hi rise kit and its just like the byb.
  3. YEAH check the tailshaft.likes been said it is now at a different angle as the box is tucked up by bout an inch.had a seized uni and you get a bit of vibe. pulled it and you couldn,t move it.seen a pic of your lift in and the rear sus crossmember had 2 blocks missing an the plate mounted on top instead of below could it be moving around as its only supported by one bolt.
  4. Pinouts and plugs the same just a few wires missing[fwd indicator lamp A2,manual indicator lamp A6 ,atf temp warning C11,speed sensor 2 A15,solnoid awd C3]could a few more when i pull harness apart.
  5. the deal is i've got wiring loom from a fwd auto lib which i want to put into my 88 L and fit a awd auto box as part of a ej22 conversion.Yes i could just get awd loom but that just adds more expense,i hoping the fwd loom and awd loom are the same or similar maybe a few wires missing pinouts different.Any ideas where i can get the auto wiring diagrams from?
  6. anyone put a awd auto into a fwd auto car? What i need to know is can you plug the awd ecu into the fwd loom and does it work, are there any wires missing?I have engine/auto loom from a series1 ej fwd car but i wish to run the awd box.
  7. the auto's r ok just the early ea ones don't seem to last in the front diff bearing area.the 4eat seem to hild up a bit better could just be that they r newer.
  8. in my albums wiring/pinout pics for 86 Rx turbo.Computer knowledge limited don't know how to link
  9. not totally true i had a 3.9 in the rear of my aus delivered wgon as standard.but get this the front diff is 3.7 confused:brow:.The reason for the 2 different diffs is its a 3AT with a 1.1 reducution in the rear housing. Not all autos had this my turbo auto sedan was 3.7 front and rear.So many combo's
  10. mate just replaced one.the stuffed one was only 6 months old and loose.the new one[warranty replacement] so tight it took a bit of force to move and doesn't return.
  11. Pretty lights mate .i got myself a bumper replacement bullbar of a comodore that was going on a brumby but with a bit of cutting and new mounting brackets fitted on a 88 tourer = cheap bullbars for subie owners.
  12. there are several points from the motor to chassis for earth.if you just ground the ecu one to the motor and not the motor to chassis you will still have a weak earth..the tourer loom you're running it off was this in the car originally or did you fit it up. Will
  13. i have run a turbo motor on a 4 plug na ecu[aus 88] all i did was swap the n/a dist and n/a throttle body onto the turbo engine and use the n/a hotwire afm,all these parts came off the mpfi na motor i took out of the car. With this setup you are missing a knock sensor and boost cut,but mine still ran fine.i know of one other car thats been running this setup for over 2 years and it runs fine.Just finished helping a mate to run this same setup hopefully his car will be a runner soon. There r 2 different part no's for the turbo 4 plug ecu here in aus. hope this helps Cheers Will
  14. Scorpion kits use alloy spacers[100% legal in aus 2" max though]so do byb.
  15. 88 wag 401000km's:clap: .Don't what that is in miles.Still going strong.
  16. you could move to australia.we got low/dual range downunder.a couple of guys are working on more reduction for these boxes here.
  17. some guy in new zealand fitted 1983 jaguar xj6 injectors into his rx.they fit straight in with a change of o-ring.possum Borne used these in his rx rally car in the day.
  18. i'm about to put a mpfi ea82t into my mpfi ea82 n/a touring wag[hotwire afm photo dist].from what i've read you can use all the n/a stuff[ecu afm dist]on the turbo motor and drop in.is it needed to change the ecu signal from n/a to turbo,if so which pin is the turbo on the ecu and do you need to unplug the n/a signal?are these both ground?can a knock sensor be run with the n/a ecu,is it needed? Thanks Will
  19. my 88 auto has 390 000 km on it. a bit offroad in 4wd still runs fine.just robs a bit of power.
  20. g'day all i know their is more than 5 manufacturers of kits in aust.my kit was built by a bloke who was building them long before most people thought of lifting subies[his words]he has no hard feelings towards other lift kit builders, most guys in aust proably haven't heard of him.so know one can really say who came up with the idea really. As long as their are people out coming up with ideas and designs good on them.i don't know if you get crap thrown on you by drivers of bigger 4wd over there but i do here and you need all the support from inside the subaru fraternity.Enough ranting for my first post[and i said i would not post outside ausubaru]Happy subaru'ing to all modified, standard, builders of one of the toughest little 4wd out there Cheers Will
