  1. My wagon is not quite the lightest vehicle I have. Its about 50 pounds heavier than the Kia (Funny thing is, the Kia came with about 35HP more than the turbowagon) Both are in the 2700's Then theres the Acura at ~3600 And the truck at god knows how much
  2. +1 Add an oddly high waterpump failure rate that that motor has, and its an all around no go. Mine was somewhere around $700 to have the water pump done.
  3. Every turbo car I have owned has gotten better mileage and better performance with higher octane. 93
  4. Keep in mind that the length of the stock 4wd wagon struts stress the limits of the car's camber settings. anything longer is going to cost you tires on a regular basis.
  5. Users get free pic hosting here. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos
  6. I have no opinion on that being true or not. I can tell you that bearings are not the weak link in these alternators though. I have replaced well over a dozen of them. Many of them rebuilts. Not once has it been because of bearing failure.
  7. Which manual are you putting in there? It would make the most sense to put the RX D/R (87+) in there.
  8. Yes. Font and back. the brakes get bled in an X pattern. Thats how the brake circuits were designed.
  9. The problem is actually getting them. I have yet to see one available in any autozone (even a couple times when they say they have them) 99.9% of the time a straight alt swap makes more sense.
  10. Its my understanding that the 05+ legacy rear struts are almost a direct fit on an EA82. You have 99+ listed, but I am pretty sure that 05-07 is different than 99-04 Please correct me if I'm wrong. I am in process of doing something similar
  11. Moved to old gen. Please do not request that people email you solutions. It deprives any future users with the same issue of a possible source of information. And information is what we're about here.
  12. Moved to new gen. You are more likely to get an answer here.
  13. A lot of people have spent a lot of time on USRM write-ups. It would be soooo awesome if people would use it. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=64613 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=62688
  14. You know there ARE better way to lower a car, right?
  15. Do you need something better than stock? If not, the alt off any EA82 subaru will work. If you want something better, you can go with an XT6 alt for 90 amps, or retrofit a GM alt for 100+ Each takes a little modification and difficulty is fully dependent on your skill level.
  16. Ah - got it. Thanks for the correction. I knew the 85-86 was different. Just couldn;t remember what it was.
  17. I would trust the yokohama guy to know tires. But I would trust the subaru guy (plus all the resources here) to know subarus.
  18. Sea-Tac to medford is a hell of a drive. ( I drove Puyallup to Medford a few years ago - long, but nice drive)
  19. IIRC, 85-86 Turbos do not use the 20BTDC setting. Its supposed to be something like 8* All of my manuals are for 87+, so I don't have any way to confirm the exact number, but I am 99.99999% sure that the 85-86 (vane MAF cars) use a different timing setting than the later ones.
  20. What sensor did you see mentioned in a book? Chances are someone here knows where it is and how to test it
  21. That is hardly peculiar to EA82Ts Don't dismantle it. Just fix it
  22. Again - this time in English?
  23. No one was aksing about an EJ Its great that some of you guys like them - but seriously - this crap is getting tired. You guys should really go jerk each other off in someone else's thread.
  24. Thats enough Rick. No one asked whether an EA82T should be modded. We all know you think its crap. No one really cares. You make it clearer every time this comes up that you don't know what you are talking about. I won't take the time to dismantle your post word by word, but you have always complained about n00bs giving other n00bs inaccurate info and now you are doing it yourself. Give it up.
  25. Before anyone can give you much help, you have to help us. What car are you doing this in? And since you want an auto to auto are they both 3ATs or are you trying to swap in a 4EAT?
