  1. I have looked at it a couple times. I think to do it right, you would have to use some reasonably slim speakers. Additionally, you would have to be willing to cut some holes in the metal behind the plastic trim. Might even require some minor fabrication if you are one of those people that wants it 'just right'. I am one of those people. Thats why I haven't it done it yet.
  2. What he said and what his blind old eyes saw are likely to be two very different things. Besides. He is a car salesman. You are more likely to get good info from the Bush administration than you are from a car salesman.
  3. Thanks for the info. You're right that anything over 2 inches over the axle can be tricky. I have 2.5 right now and it fits over the axle without rubbing or banging, but it took a couple tries to get it just right. I have access to a MillTek 3 inch STi exhaust. I have been hesitant to hack it up to fit the wagon because of the whole over the axle issue. I am currently lower than stock and will probably go a touch lower before all is done. Its good to know you made it work though. I will definitely keep that in mind when it is time to upgrade from my 2.5
  4. Do you have any ground clearance issues with that setup? Is your car still stock height? Your exhaust has gotten my attention. I would be curious to see if I could make something similar work on my car, but don't want to go back to dragging rump roast every time I get within 1/2 mile of a speedbump.
  5. Only thing that got in the way of mine was the throttle cable. My TD04 sat less than 3/8 inch above the stock location. And thats only because I welded the TD04 flange flush to the top of the stocker. The throttle cable wouldn't have even been an issue had I used the spider intake on the original install. I now have a 16G in its place. It fits just fine too. Here it is with a top mount. The piping was crude, but effective. It is in process of being redone. The previous install used something more similar to the stock wrx piping between the turbo and the IC. That fit pretty well too.
  6. I wouldn't, but thats just me  Changing the area of the clamping force and leaving a hole in the mounting point never seemed like a good idea. But what do I know about such things
  7. The forums are broken up for a reason. Please do not cross post. Closed
  8. Put the car up on jackstands or a lift. Run it in 4wd and see whats what.
  9. +1 IIRC, RXSNRG found this out the hard way a couple years ago.
  10. Actually, I think it is a turbo/NA difference. I have 2 NA spiders. One is an 87.5 for sure, the other is of an unknown year. Neither have EGRs. However, I have a friend with an 87.5 that does have the EGR Just to make it more confusing, I had an 88 non spider turbo with no EGR:-p
  11. Small world. I was recently looking at a house just off of 546 and Lucas Rd.
  12. Thankfully, no. Thats part of the reason I haven't worried about the fact that none of my hill holders haven't worked. Oh- - BTW, I spent 28 years in western WA. None of my hill holders worked there either.
  13. I'm in Allen. Lived in McKinney a couple years ago. Welcome to the board.
  14. For all the subarus I have owned, and all I have driven, I have never actually had the chance to use a functional hill holder.
  15. The tri-muter was pretty cool. But I really wanted a tri-magnum when I was a kid.
  16. Its a complete running motor from a 91 Legacy. has the intake and (I think) the exhaust still attached. I pulled it running from a wrecked legacy with the thought of putting it in another legacy I had, but I ended up getting rid of the other legacy.
  17. Lord, I wish 6 EA82T cars, not one factory 2 core My wagon has an oversized 2 core with metal tanks now. was a tiny bit tight getting it in, but I can sit in traffic all day with triple digit heat.
  18. I'll look into it. I have a dead TD04 in the garage.
  19. Nice to see they finally updated the tri magnum. I still have the mechanix illustrated that came out in. I wanted one so bad when I was a kid What is this saab turbo project you speak of? (I have had more saabs than soobs )
  20. I'm interested in the heads. I also happen to have an EJ22
  21. 600 Wheel? Not likely. That kind of power is going to come from a large turbo pushing some pretty decent boost. The stock internals might handle it for a pass a the track - once. Recently, a local NASIOC finished his 05 STi. It was putting down the kind of power you are looking for. But it was also a $20k motor . There is one guy running around here with a decently tuned 40R STi. Last I checked he was still running the stock bottom end, but I know he doesn't take it to the track or spend much time at WOT. You are trying to effectively double the horsepower of that motor. You can do it, but you better have cash on hand for when it breaks. Oh - and moved to new gen.
  22. That sounds pretty crazy. If he's right about the problem, that head is probably trashed. I know someone here in TX that has a good running Ej22 from a 90 or 91 legacy sitting collecting dust. If it comes down to it, let me know and we'll work a deal to get it sent off to you. Installation is pretty easy
