  1. The only thing I have done is remove part of the EGR system.. The car the motor was originally in had no EGR..(no spider either).. all the top end stuff is there for the inspectors to see, but the pipe from the manifold to the head is chopped.. reason for all this is that there is no hole in the head for an EGR pipe.. and I am not about to drill a hole in my head:-\
  2. Weird.. my both my 87s and both 88s only had/have 4 inch in the front.. 6 in the back
  3. Nope, no problems not using the plenum. The intercooler takes the place of the plenum. Since you have one, you may notice a couple of things that are somewhat helpful about it. First, the inlet pipe is rather long. I actually cut about 3 inches off of it.. I then used the piece I cut off to join the 2 elbows that run from the turbo to the IC.. one must use all parts of the animal:) Second, the IC has 2 lines that come off the back of it. one of those is the perfect size to run to the Line for the AAV(the 1/2 inch hose that would usually run to the underside of the plenum).. there is another, smaller vacuum line on the IC, but thats just plugged off. the center piece of the hose/pipe combo I used to go from the IC to the intake is steel pipe.. I just need to drill a hole and weld in a bung for the BPV and I will be set. After getting everything mounted and plumbed, I even found that I still had enough room to reinstall the factory heat shield for the turbo. Every little bit helps. I think at this point I am the first one here to use the 13B IC.. now to just get that silly 13B logo off of it
  4. Well.. Day 10 is here and I'm not quite done (surprise!!) Awful close though.. been slackin.. FT4WD Trans is done. difflock wired in .. LSD installed Heres tonights work Should be done tomorrow.
  5. I am also curious about what the vac readings should be. One thing I can help you with is the surge when putting it in 4WD. I assume you have a pushbutton 5 speed. There will be a little surge when activated, because the 4WD engages via a vacuum diaphragm
  6. What year, what car? Is there a valet switch under the dash that has been switched on accidentally maybe?
  7. Subaru did the 2.5 mess all by themselves. GM is only in for 20%. they can't poop in a subaru bathroom without permission from Subaru.
  8. The 9-7 is a chevy trailbalzer I do like the 92x. Will probably buy one in the next couple of years.
  9. Since both cars are 4WD, definitely no problem Btw.. Both of my 2WD wagons had dents in the tanks for the rear diff that wasn't there.. AFAIK all EA82 wagons and sedans used the same tank.(except of course for differences in the lines coming off of them for different fuel systems)
  10. Thanks all.. Done.. 3 hours .. no more leaks:)
  11. All good advice above. However, I would start with a few things I have found to be more commonly troublesome. (After a good tune up of course) I have had similar problems to those you describe on a few different occasions. Troublesome parts were(at different times) Coolant Temp Sensor, Ignition Module, and MAF.. So get a service manual and bust out that test light! Also, Check for vacuum leaks around the intake manifold. And check your coil when cold and when hot.
  12. ina 25 mile trip yesterday, I think I saw one soob.. but it was going the other way.... and fast.. so It may not have een a soob.
  13. Congrats on your new toy. No lumbar supports?.. Lame.. even my 87 Subaru has adjustable lumbar supports
  14. Just put this pump on 2 years ago Just thought I would throw this out there for some sympathy:banghead:
  15. This same thing came up a couple of months ago.. If I remember correctly, Someone on the board here knows this guy....
  16. The mounts for the carrier are the same. I did the exact same swap last june. You will need to bypass the neutral safety switch. either by using a jumper wire or just cutting the two wires off the plug and splicing them together. Its pretty much a straight bolt in type of thing. the only real wiring issues are the neutral safety switch, reverse lights cruise control(if you have it) and 4wd light Only one I have bothered with is the neutral safety switch.. Been too lazy to deal with the rest.. I have since pulled the PushButton 5 speed and replaced it with a FT4WD 5 speed.
  17. Just to add to the pool of info.. I have 25 inch tires on my wagon and I get no rubbing.. this is with the long nonadjustable 4WD wagon suspension.
  18. Perhaps you could tell me where I can find the ASV on my turbo wagon.. its an 87 the same year as the guy asking the original question.
  19. A ton of 79 parts.. you probably just became a few peoples best friend:) Welcome to the board. we need more people from washington.. there just doesn't seem to be enough from the NW here:lol:
  20. Theres an 83-84 wagon on just off 152nd street between canyon (puyallup) and 122ave.. its white 4wd.. Its been a few months since I have been up there, but I lived right down the street for quite a while and it was for sale the whole time and never sold.. not sure how much they want for it, but its probably still there.
  21. Depends on what parts you need.. if you needed a power window switch, any EA82 car with power windows would work. If you needed a motor, any EA82 Turbo car would work. If you needed RX body kit or RX interior, you would have to get them from an RX
  22. If they won't let you take it to a mechanic, offer them $250 for it as is.
  23. Check the byb board.. thats where I found it last time I went looking for it
  24. When I first saw that, I told myself I was going to keep track of how many times it would get posted on the board.. I believe this makes number seven..
