  1. Odd.. my 88 FSM doesn't mention that.. and neither my 87 nor 88 Twagon(both factory auto) had 2 rows.. Gonna have to break down and buy one this summer i think
  2. Proper tools? I have a few glass removal/installation tools.. one of which is basically a piece of piano wire with handles on the ends... made specifically for the type of thing being asked about.
  3. It possible you lost the little screw from the rotor too.. that would set you up for a situation where your timing belts were okay, but your rotor won't turn.
  4. Umm.. Yeah shean.. thats what this whole thing is about.
  5. Even with 50s you risk bending a rim I ran 50s on a car for a short while.. hit a hole, broke a rim.. city paid for it.. I said screw it and got 45's.. drove on them for a long time with no problems.
  6. $60 each or for the pair.I just did the all you can carry thing and stripped a wrecked 92 camry. Sorry for the hijack brad.. I'll let you know how it comes out.. or if it does.
  7. Funny you mention that.. I just got a spare set for my Camry.. was looking at trying to install them on my soob this weekend.
  8. send me your email address to czaharris at comcast.net and i will send back the pertinent FSM pages for testing the MAF. Also.. make sure the contacts are nice and clean.. soobs are real sensetive to having dirty contacts on their sensors.
  9. That looks like an EA81 4WD badge on the back.. and a soob mustache bar under it.. my guess is it started life as an EA81 wagon.
  10. Hope you're OK.. You seem to be OK enough to post.. Thats a good thing. $1.99 for rubbing compound at autozone and you'll be good to go.. might want to buy 2 though.
  11. If I remember tight, that saab you had was an 86.. Correct? I wonder what the amp output is on that alt. On my 92 9000T, the stock alt was 115A
  12. Or you could always spend the $15 at a stereo shop to get the one that takes 5 minutes to install
  13. If I still lived up there, I would let you borrow mine. I got mine at car toys in Tacoma for 15.99
  14. I'm not sure thats appropriate.. having some hot 70s chick standing next to the car like that:lol:
  15. I have seen plenty of carbs end up with problems after being flipped over.. Granted, none of them were soob carbs, but somehow I doub't that they are so much different than any holley, weber or rchester I have worked on..something to do with crap in the carb shifting around and gumming stuff up.. It was explained quite a bit more eloquently than that when I was in Automotive school.. But a combination of the warning in school and the real life experience leads me to issue that warning on the off chance I give any carb related advice (which I rarely do.. Fuel Injection is where my interests lie, so I generally ignore the carb threads)
  16. Sounds like you may have gotten a bvum thermostat.. I would try running without one for a couple of weeks and see if your problem goes away.
  17. Added note: Do NOT flip the carb over !
  18. No time to do it yourself? it only takes 10 minutes to change... its right on top. 2 hose clamps and one plug. Don't pay a mechanic to do it.. it will take more time to drive to the shop than to fix it...at least you know what it is. Too bad its not one of the older ones like was described above that could be cleaned and adjusted. Just check around on the board. I'm sure someone has one.. theres bound to be a certain amount of interchangeability. I have an 88 MAF on my 87 Turbo. I imagine 89 is the same.
  19. Sorry bud , no dice. Its a complete running car. He won't give up parts. It belongs to a board member who has it down here for storage right now. I'm sure one day he will claim it. Are you looking for a manual for your XT? My PB 4WD 5SPD may be available soon... depends on how things play out with some parts sources... Yes, I am being intentionally cryptic because parts are hard to come by down here and I don't want to get sniped:D
  20. HAHAHAHA!!!! Now I have your phone number, you'll never sleep again!! Good luck with your stuff Andy.. Come back soon
  21. Re you talking about the gasket that goes between the carb and intake manifold? If so, just unbolt the carb, remove the old gasket, clean the mating surfaces, apply new gasket, bolt carb back on. Its pretty easy.
  22. Looks good. in order for your stereo to not stick out, you have to make or buy an aftermarket faceplate for it like this
  23. Theres one of those not too far from here.. I wouldn't mind having the rear diff out of it.. you can have the rest:D
